@zilonman Neither. The HP Mini 110 has been replaced by newer models - this video is two years old. Go to HP's Web site and you'll find the latest version of their Mini line.

@zilonman Well, not "nothing" like, but updated and a bit different. The basics are the same. If you can swing the $399 price point though, I'd highly recommend the HP dm1z instead of a Mini 110 or Mini 210. HP just announced a new version of the dm1 this week, so wait for one of those...much better performance, 11.6" screen (which is a bit easier to work on than a 10.6"), more features, Windows 7 Home Premium rather than Starter.

@KwurKee That's correct. 1080p videos are too much for the weak Atom CPUs that come in netbooks. The one exception is that some netbooks come with hardware acceleration for videos.

I have this lapton (im on it now) its nice, it gets the job done. Two problems though

1:Its a fingerprint magnet

2:The screws on the hinges come of very easy, and they're really small and get lost easy, and are extremly hard to screw back in.

Even I as a Firefox user I know that you can disable the Dell toolbar and hide the menu bar in IE (ALT to bring it back temporarily), which makes the workspace about the same as other browsers, so it's a little sloppy of you to make observations about a browser you obviously don't know very well.

You continue by promoting Google Chrome, which is an excellent browser, if it wasn't for the fact that it's basically Spyware to provide Google with user data needed for their advertising guys

@RZ1X I review things from the point of view of a common user; how many people do you know that have IE with 2-3 toolbars running, and they don't know how to disable them? I see this all the time with friends/family. That's why the default configuration is so important: most users don't alter the default, they just use things as-is.

As for Chrome, I don't wear a tin-foil hat like you do. :-)

Non so in che regione vivi ma ci sono centri commerciali Panorama in molte regioni del centro nord e fanno sempre ottime offerte su pc e in generale su prodotti tecnologici. @JaVaLeNo I have a HP mini. I take it everywhere with me. It runs Microsoft Word 2010 pretty well; it somewhat lags though. I have literally over-loaded my Netbook. It runs Windows 7 ultimate and I have about 5 applications running at a time. All in all, I do recommended this to you. ;)

@2kwoodzy It sounds like you have a version that came with Linux. You'd get Windows by going into a store and buying a copy of Windows. :-) You'll want a USB CD/DVD drive as well to install it in the most straightforward way.

@Rich95828 Sounds like you have Windows 7 Starter on it - you can't change the background wallpaper with Windows 7 Starter, it's one of the stupid limitations that Microsoft put on Starter. You'd need to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. Or do a Web search though and you'll find some tools that will allow you to do it...

Most netbooks are limited to 1 GB due to a licensing agreement with Microsoft related to Windows 7 Starter - thankfully many can be upgraded after the fact to 2 GB. As for what I'd recommend, it's hard to say - I'd really encourage you to do your own research since you're the one making the purchase. :-) I got a Dell Mini 10 and will posting my unboxing video soon...

I got one last Monday and this product is actually very nice but I had a problem with it. The Norton Antivirus gave me an error and I had to Uninstall and re-Install it again but the problem was that when I uninstalled the Norton Software It took some communication drivers with it and is a pain in the a** to try to solve a problem on a netbook that is less than 5 days old. But overall is a very nice product and I will keep it. Have you had any problem like this Jason?... Thanks!

I uninstall anti-virus software on every computer I get, and don't put any back on. My suggestion for you is to uninstall the Norton software and install the free Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software.
