Buy the DM 10 module. More trigger inputs, more sounds and more expandability. DM 8 is great but there are some restrictions. Great value though as less than 500 pounds. I have DM 10 Pro Kit, Alesis Performance Pad Pro and Roland TD 4. Any questions let me know. Alesis always great value!
hey i am really tempted to buy this kit but have one major question. The main reason why i want the dm10 studio is because of the extra cymbol....is it possible to connect an extra cymbol to the kit i.e does the module have a free input slot for extra hardware?
I bought this kit and have tried all different sorts of cabling configurations to make the 3 zone ride sounds the way it does in this video but I just cant get the bell sound to work at all! Can someone help me!?
@rcoffman08 thanks for your response.I am starting to think my kit is missing a cable. Could you explain to me a little bit more about the way you have it set up? Alesis sent me a troubleshooting info which I have not tried but I think my cymbal should have worked fine since the first time I set it up which was not the case.
1. Press EXT TRIG to enter the main Ext. Trig Menu page.
2. Select the ride's bow or bell by pressing NOTE CHASE then
striking that zone on your cymbal trigger. Alternatively, you can highlight the trigger name at the top of the screen using the CURSOR UP / DOWN buttons to highlight it and use the VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or VALUE DIAL to select either "RideBell" or "RideBow."
3. Press MODE (F4).
4. Use VALUE UP / DOWN buttons or the VALUE DIAL to select "3 Zones"
@AlesisVideo THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE! i HAVE TRIED THESE STEPS AND STILL CANT GET SOUND OUT OF IT =( MAYBE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE PERC 1'S INPUT WHICH I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. DO YOU MIND EXPLAINING TO ME PLEASE?
How is the realistic feel and sound compared to the Roland TD-4? I'm considering to buy the roland or a littler cheaper alesis... any suggestions, please?
@ukjamesbaker especially the surge cymbals are loud. These have rubber cymbals which is not that loud. The pads are much louder than mesh or silicone pads, but they're okay.
And another thing! The bass drum pad is so noisy when the beater hits it, that I have just had to order a mesh pad to replace the one fitted and hope that it is quieter. Alesis must know this is a problem but they have just chosen to ignore it and bury their heads in the sand. I'm seriously scared as to what I have let myself in for, if I'd had a chance to try before I bought it, I think I would have walked away.
Just bought one. I'm extremely frustrated that you need a computing degree to set it up (the user kits) with decent sounds. Why oh why don't manufacturers (Roland are just as guilty) give five high quality believable standard kits and then put all of the gimmickly sounds to one side for you to access if you really want them. None of the 99 standard kits provided are believable sounds, they are all with gimmicks. I DON'T WANT GIMMICKS, I want believable kits to the best of the brains ability!
i own this kit and the sound is accurate... the best money i ever spent....they feel great and were easy to setup .. the pad sizes is what really makes this kit a A+......
@AlesisVideo which is better, USB or Pro, and if I get USB can you hook it up to like Rock Band or a game like that, sorry, I don't know much about Drums, or Electronics
@moniemaker27 I don't think that will make a difference. They both should have USB inputs. The pro will have better sound and responsiveness. But I'm not sure how compatible they are with rock band and the like. You can just play along to songs. It's much more fun.
I have a question. Please answer. Can you add extra cymbals or pads to the kit? I couldn't find an answer anywhere, but from the looks of the module you're stuck with what's included in the set... Is that true or not?
Fantastic! Now Alesis FX for EACH drum pad and cymbal and kick and add sampling input for programming to all the pads as well! Tweakable... pitch, gate, decay, etc. etc. then we're talkin out doing all the other players in the electro-drum world!

Why are the cymbals so damn quiet???
KaslarProductions 1 week ago
from 3:10 to 3.14, if you watch carefully, the kit sensitivity is not at all that responsive, it looks like some strokes were missed out! WHY?

Are Surge cymbals better than these? And are these pads better than on DM10 Pro Kit? Thanks.

Does anyone know how loud these pads are? I have housemates that I can't annoy, but I like that they behave like acoustic heads.
