I just bought an identical ukulele as this because I like it so much. I got it for 53 bucks delivered off amazon and it has aquilas on it and a great setup. You cant really get a better ukulele than this unless you get a solid wood body for over double the price. This is as good a laminate as you are going to find (I have many) and it looks better than all of them.
awesome! and I like the sound. I want to get me a uke like that one... I wonder what sizes they come in? I have a few nice ukes but none as cool as that one.
@sankanpang well I found out it does not have bad intonation but excellent intonation and I didn't have to adjust the bridge or nut on the one I just got whereas I got a kala and a luna that both needed adjustment, this did not and using the digital tuner it is right on all the way up and down the fretboard.
Mahalos are quite cheap compared to others of their kind, but i am a little worried about the value. do you happen to know what brand strings those are, maybe if i get one i can switch to nice strings? would that help the quality? thanks
@nickelworks i have no idea what streings are mounted when you buy it, but they are rubbish, i switched with Hilos and it's much better , but of course the tone problem is still there
If you want my advice, go for something at Musicguymic ebay store (find him on google). You'll be able to get a much better acoustic-electric uke.
The Kala KA-CE is a very good acoustic-electric available from him. It costs a bit more than the Mahalo, but is much superior quality-wise. The only reason I would buy the Mahalo is if I want a beater uke to take to beaches and camps where I don't want to damage my dearer ukes.
@kissing88 thanks!! there's great reviews and he sells them in concert which is what i was looking for!!! But I actually had some trouble debating whether i wanted a electric one or not. But thank you for the guy, i'll probably be ordering from him soon hehe
@nickelworks I like that uke and am having a hard time not buying one. I have a hamano soprano but theres something about the mahalo that rocks me. You could put Martin Fluorocarbons or Aquilas on it and it would improve whatever comes on it.
in a word: no, it's a cute ukulele, ad it's a nice value(for being electro acoustic and etc ) , but if you're looking for a GOOD ukulele, avoid the mahalo brand in general, too cheap , if you're a beginner and get this ukulele as first approach to ukulele, you could think that ukuleles sound cheap, while it's only mahalos that have tone isues , not all ukes :)
of course you can, i just began playing last november ;)
but the mahalo is still quite a cheap made in china thing, it's quite impressive for it's price, btut you'll certainly have a harder time playing this one than a flea for example :)

@pauljcote i think they onli come in soprano, but remember: it DOES have a lousy intonation, if you want a good sound you might want a better uke ;)

@nickelworks
The Kala KA-CE *is* an acoustic electric, so you can plug it into an amp.
Unless of course you were wanting a full-electric uke. You can get some good ones at ukulele(.)de
Risa brand are the best electric ukes in my opinion. But Eleuke is fine too.

@nickelworks
The Mahalo Les Paul is not bad for what you pay for. It looks good, has electronics and can play good music.
But it does have some issues with intonation and isn't very loud.
