So today I was walking on the side walk minding my own buisness, when a police car with two officers pull me over saying " We are looking for someone matching your description, witha black jacket" I said am I being detained, then the officer next to him said give me your ID. I said am I being detained. The officer said no. Then the asshole cop next to him said yes you are. Then i said what crime have I comitted. Then they drove off. What the hell man.
No law against filming someone in a public place. Asking your name is trying to get jurisdiction (Contract law) .. being belligerent with you. Admitting to breaking the law (buddy cop doing donuts .... ask him) .. Trying to take your personal property (Camera) ,,,man you could have a huge lawsuit against them.
Apparently ignorant law enforcement can make up their own laws on-the-fly and then "enforce them". Stupid cops. Video taping protects them and you because its brings the clear light of truth on the situation at hand. In fact, your right to film is protected by the Constitution, the 1st amendment - freedom of the press. The officer had no right to touch your camera without your consent. The town did have a drug problem due to low income housing and poor jobs. Though I can say I smoked marijuana frequently in my teenage years and was harassed almost daily by police. There are just countless stories but they always pulled me over because my tire was low or I was driving recklessly. Always they would ask me to step out of the car ans search.
Its recomended, in order to hone winter driving skills, to go to an empty parking lot in winter and get the car to slide sideways in order to get used to regaining control.

damn it that makes me sick.. Fucking cops. Great footage though man. Know your rights though, they're not allowed to touch your camera unless your being detained. You have the right to film police activity.. If you know your rights they won't fuck with you like that.

There is no law that restricts people from filming cops at a public location, in this case the sidewalk. In fact, your right to film is protected by the Constitution, the 1st amendment - freedom of the press. The officer had no right to touch your camera without your consent. This video shows a perfect case of police intimidation. Good job for not being intimidated by this common tactic by police.

Thankyou for posting this video it shows exactly what i go through in this small town. I have proof of a video how i got harrassed, after, coming home from a work night im just nervous to show it to the public.(This video was filming from the police car) I still do not have justice on what happen to me that night. Maybe their are good cops out their but many are (HORRIBLE) power hungry and abuse their authority because they know they can get away with it. Thumbs up for your video.

yo, blueronin, you don't even know what your talking about. that's what people deal with every day there. camera or no camera, crime-ridden area or no crime-ridden area. there's more complaints about bad policing and brutality then any other surrounding city. police have a hard on for enforcing the law their own way. trust me. i've spent a few years making it hard for them.

police are not here to serve and protect they are here to enforce the laws of the united states and theyre respective states. and it IS illegal to video tape police while they are dealing with you. the only time you can legally tape the police if from a reaonable distance when they are not dealing with you. but if they come over to talk to you you do have to turn it off if they request you to

Cops are a major problem. Within just a year or two of joining the "force" they become overweight, egotisical, and overall bad people. They will not hesitate to break and insist that they are "above the law."
I can honestly say that we would be better off for less cops, at least in my area (fairly rural and unpopulated)

That's how it was in the area I grew up; rural area with way too many cops that is. We had a police force of about 200 with 15000 people. The town did have a drug problem due to low income housing and poor jobs. Though I can say I smoked marijuana frequently in my teenage years and was harassed almost daily by police. There are just countless stories but they always pulled me over because my tire was low or I was driving recklessly. Always they would ask me to step out of the car ans search.

Its recomended, in order to hone winter driving skills, to go to an empty parking lot in winter and get the car to slide sideways in order to get used to regaining control.
That being said there is no law against filming police.
Though i would say i can understand why they wouldn't want to be filmed cause such as it is they our now a topic of discussion on the internet.
not defending the officers but there maybe 2 sides to the story that we arent hearing.

#2 If you delayed in 2 seconds from when they said your under arrest you would've been beat down and locked up for resisting just to show you that they can violate your rights and get away with it.

I guess they can still use some other regulations like claiming that he is hindering police work or whatnot if he was getting too intimate. Or worse start some other kinds of harassment. Certainly ACAB but these cops were still easy going and not as bad as they could have been. They seemed just to want to get rid of the annoying camera guy and were not necessarily on a powertrip.
