Even Bush knew that Afghanistan was a losing cause, so he switched it to Iraq, which in hindsight was a brilliant move, although not well planned out. Obama on the other hand has no plan either, so Afghanistan will continue to be a Vietnam quagmire that will kill many thousands of our soldiers. Consider the war in Afghanistan is more political than military, just like Vietnam. The way to lose a political war is to try to fight it with military means. Obama's strategy has to encompass that fact, and address the military ONLY to what the military can do, and assign our State Department & CIA and their opposite numbers among our allies, to address the political side of the equation... to a conclusion that gets us the heck out of Dodge, ASAP.

obama promised to get our troops home from iraq, since that was never the main focus of the war on terror(although for the past few years, fox would make you believe otherwise). obama did say he was going to refocus military efforts in afghanistan, meaning more troops there.
