Disneyprincess, remember that John has warging abilities and his last word is "Ghost." I suspect he warged into Ghost at the crucial moment. Almost nobody at Westeros believes that he is really dead. It would destroy the series, otherwise. Who gives a fig about Stannis or the rest of them? Only Dany matters, and she matters a lot more if she and Jon are tied together.
@AleisterCrowleyMagus Melisandre had the vision of John going from man to wolf, then back to man again. I imagine he'll be in Ghost with his body in a coma until he recovers.
And remember the presence of the Kingsguard at the Tower of Joy. The Kingsguard ONLY protect the royal family bloodline (and only legitimate members). Why were they at the Tower when Rhaegar was already dead on the Trident, Aerys was dead by Jaime, and the children were all murdered on Tywin's orders? Only Viserys and his pregnant mother had escaped to Dragonstone. The Kingsguard at the TOJ knew all this, as indicated when they talk to Ned. But they were still there for a reason.
@AleisterCrowleyMagus good points but the kingsguard would never protect a bastard and thats what the child would have been because Rhaegar was already married to Elia of Dorne. plus if JONsnow was his son would he not have the look of the Targaryens e.g. silver hair and purple eyes. good story but look at the facts
@traviboi123 No, the purple eyes and silver hair are recessive traits, that is why they were inbred, to keep those traits. The Stark genes would determine the phenotype.
But the Targareyns practice polygamy. This is mentioned throughout the books (look at Aegon I as an example). It is also known that Dorne princesses sometimes agree to such arrangements. Given that Rhaegar and Elia's marriage was purely political, it is not unlikely that she would have agreed to this scenario. Rhaegar clearly fell in love with Lyanna at the Harrenhal tourney, when he crowned her Queen of Love and Beauty. IMO, they eloped very soon after this, and were therefore married.

Rhaegar was married with 2 children. Even if he is Jon's father Jon would still be a bastard with no titles or holdings and his mother would have been a spoiled woman most likely disowned by her own family. Not quite as romantic as everyone seems to paint it.
@thedisneypriestesss spoiler alert. **************** ye but snow gets his ass stabbed to shit and the last scene with him he has several stab wounds and is fading to coldness with enemies all around..
Sandor Clegane is the limping novice at the Quite Island. He has a limp, and remember he was wounded in the hip. He is also taller then Brienne, and so is the novice. The priest who says he is dead also said that he himself died on the trident, so his meaning of death seems to be more spiritual then physical.
Rhaegar is painted as a villain because of Robert, but really, from what Ned Stark and several other characters have said of him, Rhaegar sounds like a really nice guy who had the supreme ill-luck of falling in love with Robert's bride-to-be...
@drawsony and he kicked his ass, only thing is he was targaryen so he was highborn......and robert took all of that with a hammer :D u have to give him some credit
@drawsony I'm not to sure how good a guy Rhaegar really was. He kidnaped Lyanna and you came to death. I can't remember if the books already mentioned why she died.
At leas one could say, that Rhaegar was shaken from time to time by the targaryens madness. Although of course not as much as his father Aeris ;)
@Keyes66 Actually there is absolutly no proof that Rhagar abducted her. Robert seemed to be the only one that beleaved that. Everybody else spoke very highly of Rhagar and how great of a King he would be. All the clues point to Rhagar and Lyanna running off together and fathering Jon Snow.
HE'S ALIVE and well!!! Brienne has seen him. And some might say as readers we have also caught a glimse of him.... at a monestary gardening and petting a dog. And it's not Sansa that left him, it was Ayra.

Sansa and Sandor might've become the beauty&beast story in asoiaf, but unfortunately he's dead.
sjz88 3 years ago 2
I dont recall reading Sandor actually dying, only that Sansa left him in a shitty situation.
stympad 3 years ago
It's Arya who left him there. He's probably not dead anyway. It's likely that he is the gravedigger Brienne meets on the little Sept island.
sjz88 3 years ago
Ah yeah it was Arya of course, I really need to read through the books again someday-_-
