Madoff, whether we like it or not, will have a trial. It can take a few years to investigate this kind of stuff in order to have the strongest case possible, so we don't know who else is in trouble. That's for the prosecution to uncover. I bet they are watching his sons. Be patient; investigations shouldn't be rushed.

If they can prove crimes against the wife and two sons, then by all means file charges. The only reason to hold them behind bars until they're tried is if they're a flight risk. I can't in good conscience condone arresting people just to intimidate and humiliate them though. That's the problem with the criminal justice system and why people have lost faith in it.

You think that doesn't happen on a regular basis? Around 90% of criminal charges are handled out side of court under conditions that would be considered extortion. My political science professor was forced to plea guilty to felony possession of marijuana because if he didn't they were going to arrest his wife and charge him with distribution (which he wasn't guilty of)
