  • The only time I seem to laugh at The Simpsons now is when Ralph makes an appearance, but only because his character is meant to be completely idiotic

  • One thing I couldn't understand was all the hype surrounding The Simpson's movie. I didn't find it funny AT ALL! That scene with the spider pig was just cringe worthy. They should've made the movie back in the 90's when the show was in its prime. The only reason the show is still going is because Fox only care about making money. They're just milking the series for all it's worth now.

  • Normally it's the people who are 10-15 years out of the loop who still find the Simpsons funny.

  • i think that the NEW simpsons is not funny at all but between seasons 3-10 the simpsons was gold, from then on it just went down hill....

  • @Y2Kforthewin i agree with this but i think that season 1 and 2 where gold aswell.my five of my favorite episodes where from season 1

  • @tarot9230 i also loved series 1 and 2 but i think that seasons 3-10 were when the show was at its best.

  • It's decent enough to be enjoyable (to me, at least).

  • @EmpireOfTheEyes I must admit, there are times when I happen to catch the show on TV (rarely) or sometimes decide to watch an episode on Hulu that it makes me chuckle occasionally. But it just doesn't seem to make me literally "lol" as much as it did in it's early years.

  • @RantingRamsay What did you think of The Simpsons Movie?

  • @Barrymit I didn't think much of it at all, to be honest. The whole "spider pig" thing killed it for me, I think. To me that was the anti-funny. I literally facepalmed at that moment, thinking "THIS is what passes for funny from Matt G. now? FUCK"

  • @RantingRamsay Yeah, the whole plot where Homer dumps Spider Pig's poo into Springfield's water was just........ really? That's the best plot the writers can come up with?

That's like the plot in Les Paterson Saves The World where Sir Les Paterson has to go to the middle east to stop a virus being put on toilet seats. That movie flopped.

  • The Simpsons Movie? It's been going downhill since season 10 and it's not just the jokes that went downhill, the storyline, depth, emotion and characters went downhill as well. At season 5 they made Homer a dumb asshole, at season 9 it declined a bit and then at season 10 it went downhill and became increasingly disappointing. However a few episodes from the new season are pretty good but not as it was in the 90s except for Holidays of Future Passed.

  • I agree, The Simpons is very similar to Family Guy. But, every character in Family Guy breaks that civilised quality. The Simpsons has evolved into a running joke that has no legs...

Also, I just detest the character of Bart Simpson, whom only destroys a building joke and is a weak character which relies on toiulet humour and the not funny joke that is doing things children shouldn't do. Mind you, The Simpsons are scheduled to have 2 more Seasons, and the only people who watch them are morons.

  • Oh, and voice-over actors in Scientology wierdness

  • The Simpsons, pre 2000: story, witty humour, smart references to films, musical score, family etc

The Simpsons post 2000: Fox trying to produce each episode for cheaper and cheaper, desperate clawing to keep up with South Park & Family Guy humour, like a middle aged man still trying to be cool with the kids, no story, 'celebrity' guest appearances, 'trendy' cultural references that date instantly, looks terrible, no more classic characters. Etc.

  • The Simpsons Are Wak As Fuck Now! Fuck That SHow!

  • It used to be great, now I can't fucking stand it. they aren't funny anyone involved in the new shitty humor should be taken out and whipped. The dumb fucks ruined my favourite show.

  • he is exactly right. why can't they do it like they used to. like if somethings good don't fuck with it. rigth

  • SRY i know i trolled like hell and had typos but i am pretty fucking dissapointed in this show now. i use to watch it a lot. but ever since the 11 12 season i said no more. figures why i dont even watch tv nowadays because its always the same old stale shit every yr. and even new shows that come out 93% of them suck in my opinion. there are not that many classics that try to modernize tv and change it up to keep it fresh.

  • if directors these days had more balls to make a new generation of not only would it bring more rating back to the show "and capture back my interests" it would be the biggest and boldest thing that groening could do for modern tv. not only just focus on the same old bullshit stories and mock tv shows like family guy like homer simpson imitates peter griffing. but broaden their horizions. if they want to stay on air what would capture back the audiences. I THINK THE NEW GENERATION OF CHARACTERS.

  • if directors these days had more balls to make a new generation of simpsons. like having the kids grow up to middle school homer and marge geting older but not to old lol and focused on bigger things changes and ideas for the show it would be very interesting. I MEAN COME ON YOU CANT TELL ME THE KIDS GROWING UP AND MAGGIE TALKING WOULD NOT BE FUCKING COOL AS HELL.

  • @IcePickSnowmanzzzz Personally, i think that would kill the show. Eg would be Rugrats. When i was a kid i used to love it, but then they brought out the "grown up" series and i was like wtf is this shit?, and it didnt last very long... Now im 20 and i have some old tapes and i can watch them for memory sake, no probelms. But i dont think the problem the simpsons have would be solved by changing of the characters ages, they need to watch the old eps that made them great and start wrtiting a fresh

  • I watched a documentary once where when your calls get sent to places like India they tell them to talk to Americans like ten year olds. The Simpsons proved this in later episodes

  • Also no joke wiki it the voice actors get paid over a million per episode every episode copy`s of something in real life without fail they can,t write a episode that stands on it`s own feet even the movie was based on a book and they have never introduced a new character that has stayed more than one episode why don`t they redone the older series in bluray

  • lol columbus crew

  • simpsons have sucked for almost a decade now. south park and family guy are real cartoons and not know disney like cookie cutter type shit like the new simpsons.

  • @businessim08 family guy is even worst.

  • @irondeth2 True.

  • the simpsons lost it's zing after the movie....it's like they balled up all there funny in one last shot and said "we'll keep making them to please people but where loaded so who cares" and it's showing

  • the simpsons is a prime example of something that tries too hard

  • i could watch the '93 & '94 seasons on a continuous loop and never get tired of them. you can keep the rest

  • Bart was never funny dude what are you talking about. I agree with your point on Homer, he's the only funny thing left in the show

  • Bart was never funny dude what are you talking about. I agree with your point on Homer, he's the only funny thing left in the show

  • The Simpsons = Not Funny

    Family Guy = Very Funny

Clevland Show = Not That Funny

    American Dad = Kinda Funny

  • @kennyrox757 that is exactly fucking right!!!!!!!

  • I personally think the show is as good as ever, but that's just my opinion. I love the Show! :D

  • I started hating The Simpsons after they went from hilariously funny to adult and suck-ish.

I woulda continued loving The Simpsons if the fucking characters grew up during the episodes instead of stay the same ages.

If you ask me, I think The Simpsons sucks so much now that I think it belongs on such a channel like Adult Swim. It's THAT stupid now.

  • you are just like me, i bitch like that too. (that is not meant to be creepy)

  • Homer does not act stupid in a believable way like he used to.. it sounds like hes trying to be as stupid as possible just for forced laughs and therefore is not funny. The heart is missing...that King of the Hill kept around much longer Celebrities used to be introduced in a clever way rather than how it is now..where they are like a guest on a talk show..trying to stay relevant. Watch the first Christmas episode if you want to see an example of a great Simpsons cartoon.

  • You basically hit the nail on the head. Americans these days seem to find the humor that doesnt take any intelligence to get the funniest. Maybe because americans are generally stupid today, and yes, I am american myself so dont bash that comment. But yes, every character is fucking dumb, just like the ones on family guy, and the cleveland show. King of the hill was cancelled because idiot america was too stupid to understand the jokes in that show. I should start a rant page.

  • @metathus I agree, King of the Hill had heart all the way through. Family Guy had some of it in the first few seasons...but then threw it all away to make the characters as outrageous as possible

  • Futurama FTW!

  • let the simpsons die!! just like u said, the simpsons use a stupid kind of humor only stupid people enojoy, they are nothing compared what to what they used to be

  • Seasons 4-6 gold, everything else. eh...

  • You are so fucking right about every fucking thing you fucking said bro. Fucking Simpsons... Don't fucking stop expressing your fucking point of view, and exercising your 1st fucking amendment fucking rights on fucking Youtube. Way to fucking go!

  • @Manusturbo I fucking know, right?

  • @Manusturbo fucking good fucking comment br- fucking o

  • It does nothing but make you roll your eyes "anymore"? That's not even grammatical.

  • @nakedmambo Well, it's not correct grammar, no. I should have said "It does nothing, anymore, but make me roll my eyes." So I misplaced an adverb. Oh well. I don't think that invalidates my stated opinion in this video, which is simply that I don't personally find The Simpsons funny anymore.

  • @RantingRamsay Or even just omit 'anymore'. And yes, your personal opinion of the Simpson's still stands.

  • @nakedmambo Well, the use of "anymore" in that statement, I feel, is crucial, as it adds an annotation of time-frame. By using "anymore" in the statement, I give a point of reference to the watcher, and through common use (or "vernacular") an implication is created. With the use of "anymore", I imply that at some earlier point in time I did indeed find the Simpsons to be funny, but do not currently. Without the aforementioned adverb, the statement is ambiguous pertaining to time.

  • @RantingRamsay That was a prolix reply, but the word anymore in that sentence is still ungrammatical. Alternatives are: 'This show only makes me roll my eyes' or 'This show now makes me roll my eyes' etc.

'Anymore' at the end doesn't imply at all that you once found it funny. Let's call it vernacular and leave it.

  • Simpsons WAS funny from the early to mid 90s. Then, in the late 90s, early 2000s, and so on, something horrible happened. Mike Scully took over the show, and it became nothing more than a hollow, empty, frat boy cartoon for kiddies and college students who loved seeing Homer get shot in the crotch and whining in pain. Slate said it best:

"Episodes that once ended with Homer and Marge bicycling into the sunset now end with Homer blowing a tranquilizer dart into Marge's neck."

  • i cant watch it anymore . i loved homers accidents in the 90s . the voices have changed too and not for the better . its like they dont even try anymore . they just throw a show together and expect us to accept it . i dont like the new animations either . the old simpsons was such a major part of my childhood and now i feel betrayed . every night u could guarentee to find at the couch with my family watching the simpsons . it was a family event . i miss those days

  • I often think what they should've done was end the show 10 years ago, made the film just for a big finale, then immortalized themselves as having created perhaps the best tv show ever. I'm sick of having to refer to episodes as new simpsons, if im talking about how shit it is, or old simpsons, as in, funny simpsons. (Which is most episodes prior to season 13, in my opinion :P. i say most, because season 12 was so hit and miss)

  • @thejam216 Seasons 10-11? FUNNY?! I honestly cannot find anything funny in them....it's basically Jerkass Homer WACKY ADVENTURES and TRENDY GUEST STARS with no rhyme or reason. C'mon...13-15 were rather ordinary but they never got as shitty and Family Gay-esque as seasons 10-12!

  • No, I don't find it funny anymore. The Simpsons has gone stale ,and it's boring now. It was like the funniest show ever during the 90s and early 2000s, but then it just stopped being funny, even the Treehouse of Horror episodes are getting stupider every year. They should just end the show for good, it's been going on for almost 500 episodes now, and it's been on the air for over 20 years. I think the Simpsons Movie should've been the ending to the Simpsons series.

  • Comment removed

  • @EpicWINNER1000 Well, I found a few eps around that time to be funny, but the point is, the show sucks now.

  • @wtc33391 I agree with you...the "Scully era" did have its moments...but, IMO, it wasn't up to par. Most of the characters had become empty shells of what they once were, and the jokes mostly appealed to up and coming Family Guy fans. I honestly think that while seasons 13-15 were ordinary and generally unfunny, they never got as mind-bendingly terrible as their predecessors, with a few exceptions ("Grow a penis", "Latest Gun in the West", Marge gets implants). But 17-22 do indeed suck IMO.

  • 1999-2004 BEST EPESOIDS EVER

  • @housam7 AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA So Homer getting raped by a Panda and jockey elves appearing for no reason is the BEST EPISODE EVER!? Yeah...

  • @EpicWINNER1000 whatever

  • @housam7 Sorry, but what, honestly, makes those the best episodes ever? There's no satire, the characters are empty, and the animation is ugly and bland, at least IMO.

  • fox always shows the new shit and never anything from season 1-16 that i actually find funny. once they did a couch gag with all the characters singing tik tok i knew that was where i had to draw the line. i mean, is it really necessary to use modern shit to maintain your audience?

  • Old episodes are always better, because the newer ones are not very intresting at some points. But it's always funny to watch Homer gets hurt in comical ways.

  • Ever since about season 12, there has been an incredible overuse of celebrities on the show. What the fuck is with that? It seems as if the writers are more concerned about which trending celebrity should be on the show rather than focusing in on writing decent and funny jokes. A guest star is all right maybe about five times per season, but now it's every god damn episode.

  • @macarthur19 I have to be honest, I can't remember the last time I actually watched an episode of the Simpson, either in re-run or a premier episode.

The brief glimpses I do catch here and there the few times I sit down to watch TV just never seem to catch my interest for more than a few seconds.

  • @macarthur19 Ever since about SEASON 10! Everyone says oh after season 12 it sucked but look at 10-12! Maximum Homerdrive?! Just an idiotic jerkass Homer adventure with straight man Bart. Season 11, Mel Gibson episode featuring another unfunny get-rich-quick TRENDY guest star theme.

  • Yeah columbus crew!!!

    nice rant

  • I completely agree with you. There is absolutely no substance to the episodes anymore. They need to bring back Conan as a writer. I think Homer was always stupid but he was always trying to gain the respect of his family which was relateable to me. Now he completely fine with his stupidity (just like many of the new viewers) ...Is that a Dead Kennedys poster?

  • @genericmember1234 well, I did purchase that banner at a music shop. I just always liked the message it conveyed, and never really thought too much about its origin. It may very well be, if the dead kennedeys used "stop Nazi" as one of their themes or slogans.

  • @RantingRamsay Yeah it was one of their symbols. Check out their song "Nazi Punks FUCK OFF." Well i guess this should be in the racist rant but fuck it haha

  • @genericmember1234 Conan as a writer? He wrote, if I'm not mistaken, only about 2 or 3 episodes. Now, John Swartzwelder was the real genius writer of the old episodes.

  • @macarthur19 Yeah I think your right actually...but I don't feel like admitting that I was wrong...

  • I believe the main problem with the Simpsons is that they have outstayed their welcome. At the time they came on the scene they were very special and came to define a decade (similar to the Beatles). Also, Mike Scully's "lower your standards, that way you can go on forever" approach killed off the high standard that people initially enjoyed the show for. It's a shame really, but the Simpsons were a product of the 90's, and they weren't going to last much longer once it passed...

  • @xxXScarletFireXxx true, that's why it should have ended 10 yrs ago :D.

  • @RantingRamsay speaking of pokemon y dont u tell every1 the its FULL OF GODAMN SHIT 4 yer next vid? like when will it end and team rockets were ediots and how monotonous ash and plkachu try so much getting pages this is just fuckin annoying they didnt even revealed his father yet

  • this shit is getting monotonous as pokemon but i watch it anyway even though it aint so funny anymore

  • @Chaos2ThaWorld1 I've watched a few random episodes when I've had the time and a few of the jokes have made me chuckle, but not much more than that.

As thespencer1002 pointed out, I think Matt is just running out of ideas.

  • matts running out of ideas thts what it us

  • Blame the tight ass people complaining about everything they see. "Too Violent" ... "Too Sexual" ... "Too vulgar".

Eventually until everything is whittled down to a nub of what it used to be.

  • The simpsons has never been funny

  • I agree, I've been saying this for a long time now that I don't think The Simpsons are the same anymore, I can't stand the newer episodes. The last Simpsons DVD that I bought was The Simpsons Christmas2 and that was years ago! (2004?) it just doesn't make me laugh one bit. I'm still a huge Simpsons fan but I only like the seasons released in the 90s.

  • The Simpsons is like Family Guy. It's all just Pop Culture references and the Father Figure's severe idiocy. Pop Culture references are fine if they add to a joke, they are executed masterfully, and they are used SPARINGLY, but it seems that our society's attention span is so short that we need to shoehorn PCR's in at EVERY POSSIBLE MOMENT to keep people's interest. The idiocy also just drags the show down. I agree that the tired old Simpsons family has lost their comedic touch.

  • I remember when early seasons of the show used to be funny. Real classic episodes. The funniest ones are the ones with heart. Homer used to be an idiot with a heart of gold. Trying hard to please his family but unable to do so. Now he is just a fucking spitefull dick who only cares about himself and whose IQ drops every episode. But what fucking season are we up to now? 22! Almost 500 episodes of this damn show and it was only funny upto episode 50. A true cash cow.

  • First, I agree with the video. One thing I have noticed is that in the early seasons (witch I love) The Simpsons was supposed to be some kind of a "normal" american family, now there is nothing normal about them. Like, back in the days an episode could take place in an ordinary day in the life for the Simpsons, now its adventures every episode. So the show isnt really a satire on the american family as i (imo) was before. Now its "just a cartoon" where everything can happen

  • season 19 was the last good season

  • @grandtheftauto5588 Seriously?

  • And what is up with the voices? Moe doesnt sound the same! Here's the problem: The current writers were not writers when the show began, they have a different view of what tone they think is funny - Family guy/south park are influencing there process and thats sad - Early on there was a sense of consequence - Homer could actually loose his job, Bart could fail a school year, Marge could have a nervous breakdown - What happened to consequence? And why is Maggie so underused thematically?!

  • I purchased simpons boxsets seasons 1 - 12 specifically because after 2002 the show really went downhill and should have been given one last 13th season to wind it down with a heartfelt sendoff but NO - They just keep on going year after year with up to the week pop culture references that age the show dramatically as opposed to the 90s ones that remain classics. Where is the love? The heartfelt messages and moral centre of the new episodes are lost in the new stuff. Too zany no soul.

  • @enigma1990 S10-12 sucked in my opinion.

  • Couldn't agree with you more, mate.

The Simpsons is not funny anymore and even the movie was a pile of shit. Homer has gone from being a lovable oaf to just a fat, annoying tit! Not to mention that all the writers are doing now are reusing jokes and story lines. Hell, I've lost count of how many times they've done an episode where Bart gets a girlfriend voiced by a celebraty.

If Fox had any common sence, they would end the Simpsons and kept Futurama on the air. It's WAY funnier!

  • @MTTT19 Very true.

On a side note, did you know that Futurama has been brought back? There's a Volume 5 DVD collection now available, and I believe new episodes run on... Cartoon Network, I think, but I could be wrong about the channel.

  • @RantingRamsay I agree 100%. Here in Finland, they just started to play the new episodes... 19th season I think? To be honest with you; they FUCKING suck. They're not funny, they're just fucking stupid and boring. I personally think that they should just stop making the damn show.

  • Yes. The characters are just to idiotic and child like, doing thing in a very exaturated way. The show also used to be about a dissfunctional resonse to every day situations with clever and enjoyable dialogue that was fun for the family. Now it relies on Pop culture and current event refrences, shamelessley reeling in celebrities into dire scenarios in which the writers feel it's a good idea to suckle on the breast of over the top stupidity for every aspect of time conssuming goo on offer.

  • For me, it was over at season 9. The thing that really made me love the old show was subtlety. Example: Look over at the suggestion bar. There's a video of the Mr. Plow episode that shows Homer buying a car from some European guy. When Homer tries to drive the car the guy yells "Put it in H!" It's simple stuff like that they don't do anymore. All I see now is Homer getting something stuck in his eye and pop culture references. Garbage. No wonder so many people like it now...

  • @DoctorAtomic1111 Yeah, I'm surprised I haven't received more heat from this video, to be honest. I agree with your assessment of Homer. As I mentioned, it seems like a lot of the jokes now just center around him being a complete nitwit, or referencing something popular or current.

I understand that after so many seasons the formula had to evolve, but I don't think I like what it became.

  • @RantingRamsay They need to either go back to the way they were because that style of comedy is by no means dead, or they need to just hang it up. For the past few years, I've been waiting for a main cast member to die and the show to just end abruptly. Although, I don't know how you would bring a series like that to any sensible conclusion. Either way, it's not funny anymore. Hasn't been for over 10 years now. But, great rant. =D

  • @DoctorAtomic1111 100% agreed.

  • @DoctorAtomic1111 Season 9 was the beginning of the end.

  • The early simpsons were better, the new ones reference pop culture and politics too much, the movie destroyed the franchise.

  • Well, after so many years, cliche's are the only thing that keep the show going. It is damn hard to create more and more witty jokes without repeating what has already been said. Honestly, I think that the simpsons are doing an ok job, it is just that we have already seen everything that the simpsons have to offer. Btw, as ironic as it sounds, the swastika in the background is the symbol for universal peace. Also, GO REVS! :P.

  • You're right. Of course you're right. Let's list the reasons, from direction to script to voice acting ennui, that reveal why it's just a shadow of it's former self. All the cast have settled into a bland rut. The shows used to have a variety of shots, even including shot-perfect parodies of scenes from movies that they didn't have to explain, the audience just GOT them. The scripts once had witty lines, so many jokes that you had to decide which one to laugh at, all that's faded away.

  • the simpsons writers are to blame. they're out of ideas. it's a horrible slow train wreck. it's dumbing down and they don't know how to be witty anymore.

  • @satanrulesall That was my general assessment as well, but I guess I just wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt.

  • see the new seson it is pretty funny

  • @TTNoble77 I've seen a few bits and pieces of the new season on TV and haven't really laughed all that hard. Maybe I just didn't get to catch the the good bits, I guess. I keep trying to give it a chance periodically, but just can't feel that same comedic spirit it used to possess.

  • The simpsons are funny sorry they have humor that isnt gags the cutaway from the ploot nor 20 billion sex jokes

    Hate lisa thogh

  • @TTNoble77 But that's kind of the point I was making... they DON'T have wit or humor in their gags any more. It's all either based on a cheap sight-gag, or on Homer (or one of the other characters) being really really stupid.

And, on a side note, nobody said anything about needing cut-aways or sex jokes to be funny. In the video I don't critique the Simpsons by comparing it to something else, I critique it by comparing it to itself.

  • the simpsons stopped getting funny like 9-10 years ago

  • @patwaddington Simpsons stopped being funny 13 years ago and seasons 10-12 sucked.

  • dude your totally right and this is exactly the way i see that the show has gone too. I mean you take a look at one of the older episodes for example where homer went into space and that one episode had more laughs and wit in it then the entire last 6 seasons of the simpsons had in their entirity. I think its time to call it a day. I mean i always think something like one of the major voice actors is going to kick the bucket or something and they'll have to cancel it.

  • The simpsons has been crap since family guy became fully recognized

  • The Simpsons has been shit for years, it's been going down hill for so long the shit episodeds out weigh the good ones. So what are the young kids gonna think in a few years when some ones told them to watch it. Theres too many celebrities going in it which seems to be a desperate ploy to make people watch it and harly anyone has the balls to critisise it because too many people lick their arse. I grew up watching the simpsons and I loved it but now i'm sorry to say it is SHIT!

  • @1986ant1986 you can still watch the old school episodes.

thats what i do since the new episodes bore me.

  • @bazla123

    true..

  • The newer episodes of The Simpsons are still funny (kind of) but it really doesn't feel like the same show any more!

I don't really get time to watch The Simpsons anymore, but if I'm ever watching TV and it's on I will watch it, but I'm always praying that a classic episode and not a new one!

If the show begins and I see that new "HD" Opening, then I'm pretty much out!

  • What the Simpsons needs is a time jump in which Bart and Lisa are in high school, Maggie is in Elementary school and all the characters are a little older and also new minor characters as well need to be added.

  • @Sponxic rugrats did that and it sucked ass

simpsons had episodes that took place a few years ahead of time and i thought those were great

  • the simpsons suck balls

  • I think the show took a drastic U turn in quality at season 11.

The Simpsons used to have heart. Now it seems to be more cartoonish as in zany sight gags, and most episodes seem to end with Homer screaming or crying over the end credits, usually being mauled by some kind of animal or animals.

Homer himself has evolved from being dumb to just bizarrely detatched from any kind of Earthly logic. And it seems most stories now are written just as an excuse to include guest stars.

  • @lrb662003 definitely agree there. season 10 was the last watchable season where there are some quality episodes. Season 11 introduced a lot of new writers who didn't seem to get what the older episodes were about. Plots were recycled and guest stars were almost useless in advancing the story.

  • @joecabot34599 S10 had some okay episodes but sucked hard in others ("Kidney Trouble", anyone?).

  • The Simpsons used to place the characters in a human and relatable position (Such as Bart fearing the idea of disappointing Homer because he cheated on his exam), throwing occasional wit and humor to keep the episode going. Now they just rely on some wacky withered plot that seems to be written thinking specifically of where they would be able to place pop culture reference.

  • it was never funny

  • I agree completely.

It seems like they just state the obvious rather then make fun of shit now.

like when Homer started talking about O.J simpson being his hero and then just started talking about how he did commit a murder.

And homer seems like more of a caring father now who is alot more intelligent >.>

It will most likely get cancelled before too long.....

  • @gamingfreak3 I would like to share your optimism about it's supposed impending cancellation. However, I fear signs like the longevity of the genre of reality shows as an indicator that the standards for American entertainment are absolutely in the shitter, which means the current incarnation of the Simpson's probably isn't going anywhere any time soon.

  • @RantingRamsay btw its the writers fault we need Schwartzwelder,Oakley/Weinstein and Silverman back...I also think its a "generational thing" with the old writers and the newones alot of folks say the golden seasons were 3 through about 9 ie John Swartzwelder era...well John was a product of a very pop culture induced childhood/ and alot of the great jokes were his...for me the Simpsons almost work "BLUE" a bit like a tame Family Guy which as of now I enjoy more but whatever man....CHEERS!

  • @gamingfreak3

when do you have time to watch the simpsons?

  • does anyone else notice that the simpsons now focuses more on lisa and marge, and how they are sort of like, "empowered, independant women" or something

  • Actually, what annoys me about Homer now is that he's not as stupid as he used to be. He's kind of a mix of season 1 Homer and... every other season leading up to when the new writers took over. In other words, his stupid moments are now forced and don't even feel like the kind of stupidity we came to expect from Homer over the years and he seems like a much more responsible husband/parent than he was, well, before the new writers took over. What happened to "Stupider like a fox"? Really.

  • @slashermaster28 As for the show as a whole, I've noticed it's been borrowing Family Guy's style of humor as of late. What I mean is that now they devote half their jokes to advertizing products. For instance, In one episode, a cheese truck comes open and what do the writers do? Have Lisa name all the cheeses. So what's the joke? And rather than making fun of Fox like they used to, the writers now kiss up to Fox and praise them every chance they get. It was funnier when they were mocking it.

  • @slashermaster28 It just baffles me how Matt G can ignore what his fans are telling him. Look at it this way: Futurama has finally made a comeback. It started when the Simpsons was at it's peak, the strongest it ever was. Futurama only ran for about four seasons because it has a slightly more cynical humor than did The Simpsons. It criticized modern society with vague jokes and potent satire. Now Futurama is back with the same humor, while the Simpsons continues in a juvenile direction...Hmmm..

  • @RantingRamsay I had to laugh at what you said involving yer wife my GF does the same thing it must be a girl thing....

  • i never found the simpsons to be funny

  • @StPatrickDayMassacre

    Oh you silly Goose.

  • they are just simply running out of ideas, they are just adding some random shizzle into it now which just isnt funny

  • its not funny all the time but its always entertaining to watch

  • obviously its still funny even if its not funny its still a good show to watch

they would always to find a way to put humor in it

  • Favorite show of all time. I watch multiple episodes every day and will always prefer it to the mindless Family Guy. The Simpsons and King of the Hill for life.

  • The series should have ended after the movie, because the movie was a great experience, it ended on a high note, and it would would have been a perfect ending to the series, but then good Matt Groening decided to stretch it out for a couple more seasons.

  • I watch the ones from the 90s and early 2000s. The new ones aren't terrible, but not nearly as good.

  • @procritic09 i agree the 90s were the best ones

  • @procritic09 Late 90s/early 00s were terrible, unfunny, Jerkass Homer frat boy episodes IMO.

  • Yeah dude, I agree with ya.I can't watch the show anymore because of this.

  • too right it is just pure crap, at least futurama is still good, and seth mcfarlanes shows are alot better

  • i can't even say the last time i watched the simpsons. i remember really just.... being rather disgusted with the movie. i can't say a whole lot since i haven't seen an episode in idk how long, but i have heard it's been kinda starting to suck

  • I kind of agree. It's not funny but it's not a rubbish show. Better than some of the other stuff on TV anyway

  • could not possibly agree more Ramsay, the show should've ended at the movie, or maybe even before. it's like they tried to be family guy, and when that failed they just scrambled for any idiotic attempt at humor they could find and have decided since they aren't cancelled it must be working. it just sucks that a show so many people have loved since childhood is being so horribly handled.

  • I see what you mean, they need to use swear words to be funny

  • @brittonbful Yeah that's totally not what I was trying to say at all...

  • @RantingRamsay sorry Ramsay

  • Totally agree

  • Thank you for making this rant i am glad i am not the only one that dislike the new Simpson episodes. From the newest seson i only watched two episodes also dubble epiode on TV and i gotta be honest i did NOT laugh once. Well i won`t judge the entire seson on just one episode but i can say that last seson was pretty bad to.

  • That Israel episode with Sacha Baron Cohen was the biggest piece of crap that someone ever put on cable.

  • This rant is totally true... I can't even really watch it anymore.

  • good one. I think the simpsons used to be funnier too, but I just assumed it was because I was younger. Though, now when I watch the show, it may get a few chuckles out of me, if anything.

  • I will all ways love The Simpson's but I cant fucking STAND the show anymore oh well its still better then family guy =\

  • The Simpsons was no longer funny when they changed writers.

  • I honestly haven't seen an episode of The Simpsons in years, simply because I got SO bored with the show.

Futurama on the other hand, I love. I feel it's able to have more variety to it being it's set in the future and with the character being able to go to other planets, etc.

  • From what I heard, last season's episodes were actually pretty good. Not all of them, but a lot of them were pretty funny.

  • @SpamNapkin No offense, but the people reviewing the S20-22 episodes think it's getting better because of "TEH SWITCH TO HD!1!".

  • maybe you should try futurama? i feel that has had a good revival on comedy central

  • @bryanbko I actually have all four volumes of Futurama and DVD, and all four of the little sub-movies they made. I hear they are going to be doing brand new episodes on (can't remember) either Comedy Central or Cartoon Network, and I'll probably pick those box sets up when they come out.

  • @RantingRamsay the new episodes come on every thursday at 8 or 9. They've already had 2 new episodes
