when i was 10 years old i used to be my grandpas designated driver sometimes. I used to drive him back home from the pub, or launch the boat and go fishing with him after he'd been drinking all the time and no one would bat an eyelid. How the times have changed.

Also at age 10/11 I had already driven excavators, tractors, dumptrucks and harvested about 50,000 hectares of wheat and was a better driver than all the shit 16/17yr olds with absolutely no driving experience

Sadly, this is somewhat common in many rural areas. I knew a couple of kids who drove for their dads when their fathers were drunk. In the country kids learn to drive early because they use equipment and machinery around the farm. My uncles both were farmers and my cousins and siblings and I all drove very early. Though not for our drunk parents as they tended to drink at home.
