Ha Ha--I'm no expert at all, but it's not necessary to be in order to realize that this guy gives a very biased presentation of history. His use of language is pretty substandard as well.
@DiGiTaLdAzEDM He's Austrian apparently, so he's neutral. I don't think he cares which side was "right" or "wrong" he is just stating facts and his own opinions. Most modern day schools in the US nowadays most likely give a very biased presentation against the south and for the North.
They made it clear from the outset that they were not invading the South to end slavery. They were adamant that they were only worried about collecting taxes.
The Preamble for the United States Articles Of The Confederation is not retarded or dickish and speaks quite often about the perpetual union and the states. The term "Americans" may not have been used back in the day, I don't know, but Article 1 of the A.O.C. titles the Confederacy as the United States Of America. Read them for I believe you are wrong in your points about the "unity" of the states not proceeding the constitution. The A.O.C. gave birth to our constitution.
Lincoln did believe that the Union was "older than any of the States and in fact created them as States". Lincoln was either ignorant or willfully lying. The States created the Union whether Lincoln liked it or not.
Not to split hairs, but they were 13 colonies (and British to boot) before they were states. So Lincoln was correct. The union of the 13 colonies and provinces existed before they became states.
The States were SOVEREIGNTIES, each one. Read the Declaration od Independence. King George gave independence to each of INDIVIDUALLY. Those Sovereign States CREATED a Union. No State was bound to join it. Lincoln re-wrote history.
They could elect their own governments but were still all British subjects and ultimately subject to British rule. So any sovereignty they had would have been internal only. So...they really weren't sovereign.
I think you are missing his point, and splitting hairs, as to his assertation that the unity (aka alliance/union) of the colonies existed (against British rule) before the states did.
Those colonies were declared to be "Free and Independent STATES" (plural). The same DOI also referred to the "STATE of Great Britain". So by definition, those colonies EACH became an independent State (or country) just as many other British colonies have done since (India,Egypt, etc). South Carolina, Rhode Island and Virginia had each already declared their independence prior to the joint DOI. S. Carolina went as far as to elect a President for the Republic of SC.
Until France recognized us(and eventually the Treaty of Paris) we were a bunch of colonies in rebellion.
Just like the south was during the Civil War.
It's war and not everyone gets what they want. Michigan ended up being part of the US when they were largely supporters of the Brits. Wasn't it a bit of a surprise when the treaty gave that territory away! And there was a British garrison there for like 10 years after the war was over! War is hell...especailly when you lose.
"Until France recognized us(and eventually the Treaty of Paris) we were a bunch of colonies in rebellion." You could make that argument, sure. But you actually prove me right. The 13 STATES that seceded in the 1860's were STATES (not colonies in rebellion), that, according to Madison, and Jefferson,NEVER lost their sovereignty upon entering the Union. But Lincoln said that they NEVER were sovereignties.
@Noctis6969 They never did "officially". The CSA sent diplomats and had meetings and such. There was some leanings in the direction of recognition, but the US made it clear that recogniotion was to be considered an act of war. If the CSA would have had some big victories the Brits and the French might have jumped on the bandwagon - like the french did after Saratoga. The Brits didnt seem prepared to risk war with a major power before the south was well on its way to victory.
Vermont chose to exist as an independent Republic for many years. Lincoln, in his 1st inaugural address declared "NO State except Texas has EVER been a sovereignty" and 'The Union is older than any of the States and in fact created them as States". This was a total re-writing of history. The Union of 1861 had its beginning with the adoption of our current Constitution. The former Union under the AOC broke apart. The STATES created the Union.
The Yankees rewrote history and conquered the South for their own economic interests. Even with their many gross errors, the South was fighting for the original intent of the Founders. The States are now being pushed into the same conflict. The best thing that could happen would be for the States to dismiss their agent (the Federal Government) and those that so choose should form yet another "more perfect Union" under the Constitution as it was prior to 1861, while keeping the 13th amendment .
@AgrivatedKillah So you think slavery would have lasted forever even if the South had won? You're willing to create an even greater injustice to eliminate another? You're willing to free some slaves even if in the process it makes us all slaves? You're very short sighted. You're lead by emotion, not facts.
@AgrivatedKillah I agree. But what if when it did end, the former slave owners and former slaves were on good terms, without the horrors of the Reconstruction Era to divide them? What if as a result freed slaves and their descendants weren't transformed into a dependent class by white northern liberals?
@AgrivatedKillah The "hanging of blacks and republicans" came about because of the MURDERS, RAPES, ans PLUNDER " that was taking place against white southerners by northern leaguers, carpetbaggers, scalawags, ans some freed slaves. That's the part the history books leave out. Like it or not, it's true. "The "northern moral superiority" is one of the biggest myths of the era. Blacks got the right to vote in the South before the north, northern States passed laws barring freed slaves from moving .
@AgrivatedKillah blacks were banned from settling in the western territories. Again, all the horrors of Reconstructin would have been avoided had the South won and freed the slaves a little later. Any way you slice it, the States (ALL of them) lost their sovereignty at the hand of Lincoln. Today we need State sovereignty now more than ever with a government that thinks it can pass any law through the "commerce clause' and "general welfare clause".
The term Americans was used back in pre USA colonial days. On the declaration of independence like the first line says the unamimous declaration of the thirteen United States of America.
maybe Lincoln y offered to sign a slavery amendment was because slavery was the major issue. 1 more thing why did they do a 100 gun salute WITH LIVE AMMO!!!!??????
"concentration camp manager" isn't good enough. Hitler is a more fitting analogy. Lincoln . He killed anybody who opposed his regime. Murdered the entire New York Civilian Militia. He was our first Terrorist. He would have been president for life if he had lived. The election of 1864 was a joke.
Really a concentration camp manager? Really? Really ? You make some interesting points but you are also being a bit of a reactionary blowhard. Contain your swearing.
Did they make pillows out of dead people's hair or use or use bones for other industrial uses? Medical testing and experimentation on human beings? Forced labor followed by gas chambers? Huh.
After a war things change. That's the nature of it. The south was not willing to put up what they saw as northern interference. Once the war ended the leeway that they had before it was taken away.
Since you're putting it in quotes, when did the north ever use the term Blitzkrieg or reich? I don't see where lightning warfare came into play. It was regular 19th century warfare.
If this is correct, I agree with your statement about Lincoln's monument in place is on the sames lines of erecting a concentration camp monument for a manager. Shame. One word that forms in my mind..."Shiteous."
Hi, thanks for the vids. I totally agree with you on everything including how passionately you are disgusted with it. I just took US history to 1877 and was disgusted myself. It's nice to hear your opinion. It validates the conclusions I came to.
Probably one of the most biased series of videos I've seen since any creationist propaganda. Poor presentation too.

COuld be an oversight on his part? Vermont was not part of the original 13 colonies and I think that that is the reference he is making.
