It's not really about a love story, IT'S ABOUT HOW PEOPLE TRY TO CENSORE HIS THOUGHTS & ARTISTIC ABILITY. THE PHOENIX REPRESENTED HIS OUTER-WORLDLY ARTISTIC VISION. That's why at the table the phoenix was tryting to share with the people at the table. He tries to share his art & give his opinion on things but people don't understand him and try to change him. The phoenix even tells him this about 'our world' towards the end of the movie. This is the underlying theme of the movie.

Honestly i didn't get the msg of it .. i really tried to believe me i really did try but it's just to weird for me. I didn't understand what the hell it was about. The only thing i liked was the music and the end where he's running to that song Lost in the world...but other than that i was just too weird for me. @terryagyekum I think you raise very valid points! "Different" doesn't mean good. But remember "good" is open to interpretation. Some people will find Kanye's vid "good" because it pushes boundaries. Others because his creative vision in choosing the images and writing the script was masterful. Others because they will grab hold of the phoenix symbolism and its parrallel with Kanye's career - Fallen angel nurtured by generous souls, seen as a social pariah (dinner scene), and rising again

i think his acting was really bad but its really not his job to act so im not going to judge him like that and i saw the interview too he seemed like he was just really out of it maybe he was tired i don't know but the video was amazing and i loved it
@omfgavoryno yes his acting was suspect, haha, but as you mentioned everything else outweighed that. One thing we can say about his performance (aside from some spoken lines) is that he was committed to an emotional delivery...and often succeeded
