we petition the obama administration to: calls upon the People's Republic of China to put an end to its repression in Tibet as demonstrated by the ongoing unrest
I am writing this letter to draw your kind attention to the tense situation in Tibet due to the Chinese authorities’ increased restriction in the wake of a series of self-immolation by Tibetans in Ngaba Tibetan region...
What I find funny is that the Economy Class of Emirates looks like the First Class of a lot of other airliners, see better. This is what I call travelling. Being treated as a king or queen in Economy class. Only Emirates does that.
@cjpatz The mountain is distant, so it is difficult to say. But the profile does not remind Mt. Everest. There should be a distinct ridge visible. Moreover, the summits of Nuptse and Makalu should be visible, except if the cloud level is exactly between the summits of Everest and those other summits. As mentioned earlier, it could be K2.
A man and a woman are sitting next to each other on a trans-atlantic flight in a Boeing 747-400. The aircraft encounters severe turbulence and the man, looking out the window at the wing bouncing around, gradually looks more and more worried.
The woman, noticing, says "Don't worry, I'm a flight attendant and this is perfectly normal."
He replies "Miss, I'm a Boeing engineer and we didn't design the wing to do what it's doing right now."
I stand corrected... Mt. Everest is the highest in the Himilayans and the world at 29.035 feet (8850 meters). A plane flying at 35,000 or even 38k feet would seem to be flying low when passing over the Himalayas. Depending on weather, the average height of commercial aircraft is appx 35 - 38k feet where they fly "above" weather and avoid as much as possible turbulence. This is an average and some fly higher or lower, depending on which course or track they are on and other variables. :)
@parth152 I have the impression you see to much exagerated TV shows or something like that regarding to aviation. The A380 is a very powerful plane with four monster sized engines, a very huge wing surface (almost twice than that of the 747), which easily can climb and fly, even with 1 engine lost, several thousand feet above the average high of the Himalayas
@parth152 No, it isn't. Probably could be the K2 mount, but I'm not sure. If you check the map and the explanation of doc7austin, the plane was over the Pakistan-China border, which is more than 1,000 miles west of the location of the Everest.
@lufthansa330pilot Usually the route is flown at FL370 (37,000 ft) setting the altimeter at standard pressure (29.92 in Hg). Nobody will fly at FL250 in that area.
How can you 'dislike' the awesome view of the snow capped mountains..

Mount Everest is the highest point in the world at 8,850 meters, and it is located at the Himalayas, so I wonder where it is in this video.

could that be Everest on the horizon on the left at 1:12 ?
