In the mid 1970's some of us in the San Francisco mid peninsula had to see "s/he" as a form of real language and writing. And we call girls "guys" and they should be happy because it's a compliment. Good bye feminazi's. And they look manish.
@EazyTim You dumbass. Feminists aren't man-hating bra burning psychos. Go read what a feminist is and not the Rush Limbaugh hate-spewing addict's "definition" of what you think feminists are.
Those feminists are hilarious. They are just as weak as normal women, but they think they are badasses. I could beat all their asses at the same time. Why don't people just stick to their natures?
@GaeilgeSpraoi I'm not a sexist pig. I was a Greco Roman wrestler for years, and I can lift a lot. I am always amazed by how weak women are. It is sort of like how humans are weak compared to mountain gorillas, except women are much much weaker proportionally. I could at least hold my own with a gorilla. It is so cute when a woman tries to do martial arts.
That guy was totally wrong. The "valley" accent still has a lot of influence in southern california. Growing up and living here many of the people I know including myself still use idoms from back then. Oh my god! You know, it's like, I mean, totally not awesome and super grody, dude. I usually speak this way with friends depending on my mood and the circumstances.
@antjcar86 Amazing how much of that speech sounds completely natural to my eastcoast (northeast/Philadelphia/New York) ears– and also, the few surfer and valley phrases that do sound hopelessly dated.
basically at the end of the day you can break down english,,into "lingo"... to suit your needs,,, and that is in essence the beauty of it... you can make uo your own "lingo"
Aw come on....I completely support equal rights for Women, but how many feminists and super-PC people just try to roll up history and growm linguistic structures is pathetic.
@1DerekRubin1 I still hear "rad", "awesome", "totally", "sweet", "b_tchin'" and other slang words they mentioned in the video - surprisingly, in corporate America.
"Cool beans" is another slang bit I hear pretty often.
Back in the 80s when this was made, they might have thought it would influence the way English is spoken. Thankfully, very rarely do you see a chick talking this.
@NewYorkFlavour I was in middle school when this song and slang emerged. I was into the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and the blues, and melodramtic operas. I looked down on the girls and some boys who fell into the whole "like gag me with a spoon," gig. I found the kids who followed new-wave terminology were unimaginative. I much more preferred creative kids like me who improved our English language and for fun created our own words. That whole Zappa scene was an embarrassment to some teens, like me.
6:20 Super dike. she would be a fake fucking no-cal Buddhist, "as a Buddhist and someone that has no idea about Indian culture, I would like to spew a bunch on nonsense crap on you......"
@EazyTim Feminists are arguing if it's possible to be a male lesbian in a post structuralist post modernist society. I'd say it's America and they can be transexual hermaphrodite cross dressing nuns.
