  • cant believe this was 10 years ago

  • 10 FUCKING YEARS, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, STILL LOVING THE STROKES

  • what venue is this?

  • @laurenissuchaweirdo i know its in hollywood

  • underground forever!

    this it!

  • what the year it was?

  • @MrMakerxD 2002

  • @MrMakerxD it's in the fucking description: 02/02/02.

  • The vocals on this sounds better then the album version..

  • This band is amazing, and ''Is This It'' is almost perfect. I love the whole album, every song

  • the definition of cool should be 'the strokes'...im being fucking serious

  • When Julian dosent sound like a a crack head

  • This venue performance will go down in history

  • this looks soooooo 60s lol

  • so bad but so good .....

  • @lokeradekadente81 Most of them are. My first time I was disappointed with her.

  • Want them to come out with new stuff! Brilliance. Sheer BRILLIANCE!!

  • nico has got to be one of the coolest bassists to date

  • @loltingable

Im not a music teacher or anything.... but on most of the strokes´s songs, the bassist plays the same notes as the guitarrist. Which is very cool. And some rythms are great. But he is FAR away from being the coolest from nowadays.

  • @rhcp6393 yeah that's a good point, i mean sometimes it annoys me that bassists who have potential just do the same thing as the guitarist. but he's had some fantastic moments, like the bass in is this it...dude i find it brilliant. other than that he just looks too cool and chilled out :D

  • @loltingable

"Is this it" bass is amazing. i was checking out some random songs and It seems he mostly does something different from the guitar while playing the chorus. Juicebox has cool bass too. U know.. ima chili peppers fan. I love bands with a clear and front bass. Flea (the bassist) many times said he listened to a specific band: U may know it and maybe even know these songs. But now just listen to its bass :) hope u like them: FLASH LIGHT, and BRING THE FUNK. Both from PARLIAMENT. cya

  • Nick tries too hard to look cool.

  • why do they sound soooooo great live ?

  • LoL He remembered his lyrics :D

  • omg look how stoned julian was

  • My first Strokes show was the day after they filmed this. Julian completely lost his voice due to this show, so he couldn't sing at the show that I was at. =( Myeh, it was okay tho coz I still got to see Jules in all of his drunken glory. He was still beautiful and my heart still fell to my stomach the second I saw him for the first time.

  • I remember this, it inspired me to get into music

  • why does this video looks so old? :P

  • why would anyone dislike this??? Can they not see or hear Julian?? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!

  • Nikolai<3

  • the bass in this song awesome

  • Comment removed

  • Ok so, this song was SUPPOSEDLY in the movie Spider-Man, I just watched it an it's NOT. Why is it on the soundtrack CD?

  • @TheSonorama21 I think it's because it's "music from and inspired by the motion picture" which means it's a bunch of songs from the movie, and, well... inspired by it. It happens a lot in soundtracks.

  • @alans056

found that out through wikipedia a little while after i typed it. thanks, though!

  • i make cool videos

    COME CHECK THEM OUT

    please

  • the video thought it should have the quality of a video in 1975 given the audio's greatness.

  • The Strokes are fucking lightning in a botlle. A once in a million thing that comes and defines and influences the rock music of the decade.

    60's: The Beatles/The Who

    70's: Zeppelin/Queen

    80's: Van Halen/Guns N' Roses

    90's: Nirvana/Radiohead

    2000's: THE STROKES/The White Stripes

I am thankful that my generation had such an impacting band for rock n'roll history.

  • @elbowonfire one slight change 2000s: The Strokes/Kings of Leon

  • @MunkhjinE no doubt KOL is an incredible band, I just dont think they had as much of a profound influence on younger gens as TWS and The Strokes did. In many ways bands like KOL and The Killers are byproducts of the Strokes' stripped back poprock (killers combining it with the synth elements of Duran Duran and KOL mixing it with their Southern rock revival.)

  • @elbowonfire true

  • @elbowonfire I respect your comment very much, but You should have thrown The Doors in the "60's" section man.......

  • @ThinCrustPizza67 By NO means am I saying the Doors weren't a huge influence, I mean they are one of my favorite bands and are forever an example of originality continuing to thrive in an industry where everyone is looking at what everyone else is doing. They were a major factor of music in the 60's, but in terms of bands that branched off of and copied from them, well the list didnt come to me as quickly as the first two did. I could have done 5 from each gen, but there is too little space lol

  • @elbowonfire well said ma man but can you seriously rule out every other band lurckin' behind the number 1 spot??? if that's all that's on your playlist your a bigger dick than I initially thought. Your spot on but that's already been said and confirmed move on into 2010's brother get off the band wagon n put down the anvil

  • @elbowonfire Totalmente de acuerdo contigo

  • @elbowonfire The Drums are the band for the 2010's, and make the strokes and white stripes seem quaint.

The Strokes weren't even on my radar, though they remind me of The Kinks, but ho-hum cool, definitely good, but not especially endearing. The Shins were the band of the 2000's I'd say. The Kinks are way more influential than the strokes.

  • @elbowonfire White Stripes, screams distinctively ok. More like MUSE!

  • @MultiJimmyHenry

Hahaha Muse fucking suck. Radiohead did anything they did better, ten years before them.

  • @mothafuckajones666 Muse fucking suck? Dude... You really don't know Muse.

  • love their songs, old & cool mix

  • when the gig started they played when it started!!!

  • Nick's tiny legs :3

  • I absolutely love this band. It reminds me of the good ol days in High School.

  • @1HippieRebel it wasnt in the movie, just the soundtrack.

  • love this tune its on my mind all the time!

  • 1:13 Sweet moves, Albert.

  • Yeah, the music starts at 0:56

  • I love the how old this video looks. it matches the music and the band perfectly

  • @DW8807 i agree. it makes it retro looking

  • This band!

  • I love how the lit floor makes their skinny-jean clad legs look even skinnier. Julian is utterly adorable.

  • 0:55 the music starts

  • 2:31 thats probably the most simplest.mind blowing solo ever made

  • @roadranga This was on the American release so I assume you have the European/Australian one. It replaced NYC Cops because of 9/11. "NYC COPS AIN'T TOO SMART" You know.

  • its a b side

  • @jonnik2421 actually, it is on the American release because it replaced NYC Cops. This was not on the UK release.

  • this song isn't on the albums, I think they just play this one at concerts...they have a number of songs like this

  • @otmq nah its in the american is this it

they replaced nyc cops because they were going to release the album but 9/11 happened

  • This is SO FRESH

the strokes are so old school but futuristic at the same time lmao

  • lucjicharms777, this song and all of "is this it" has a clear influence of the seventies music!i guess this is the reason

  • JULES

  • :57 is where the song starts

  • i love the bass in this song

  • I love The Strokes so much, but I don't think I'll ever have an appreciation for any of their live performances.

  • @HeyWheresKel i feel sorry for you...

  • @jamesonthestreet i appreciate your sympathy. i'm not fond of my distaste for live performances.

  • i would kill to see the strokes live. such a great band

  • this is better than the album version. theyre so fucking good live

  • @JaredTuozzo that's cause when they recorded this album they wanted the least amounts of studio enhancements possible/

  • why does this video look like it was recorded in 1975?

  • @luckicharms777 cause it looks cool! no one needs HD ;)

  • @luckicharms777 cuz it was "HISTORY IN THE MAKING" xD
