  • i'm hopefully getting one of these from my parents in a few months as my first motorcycle, it'll be nice to drive this to school and not my gas guzzling truck

  • the only thing stopping me getting a bike is the ignorance of automobile drivers.

If everyone rode a bike the world would be a better place.

  • i got one have 6200 miles drive every day for work 36 miles round trip i love it only 2 oil change every body in my company is buying bikes now they are buying harleys i am sory for them

  • beautiful bike, but i hate the exhaust. not even the big tip end but the way they come outta the engine just looks cheap

  • nice bike I will probley get myself one pretty soon. Need to pay off some bills first. I have done all the middle weight research, From harley 883 to 950 star and the star wins hands down

  • this is a cool bike....!!!

    how much does it cost?

  • Download your Free Yamaha Motorcycle TODAY - ** yamaharepairmanual (dot) org **

  • hi.. would you recommend this bike for a first timer?? first timer ever!! :)

  • I got one last March and it has been fabulous. I put passenger floorboards for the wife and Cobra slashdowns with the Cobra FI2000 fuel management system. Drivers seat is comfy but the passenger seat needs to be upgraded if you are going to use it. I am swapping to the mustang seat this spring and adding the Kuryakyn Adjustable cruise peg mounts. These attach to the factory floorboards. It has plenty of power and with me and the wife riding, it gets about 52 miles to the gallon.

  • lol yawmawhaw

  • The bike is very good, congratulations!

  • tried one and it sounded like an old mustang its so cool

  • would you reccomend this for a first time rider who plans on doing alot of high way riding cause ive been looking at this bike for awhile and its one nice bike in my opinion

  • i have one in a custom Blue and Silver pinstripe with the full chrome package. its great for highway riding. its pretty fast too. lol

  • On June 14th a lady pulled out in front of me from her stop sign while I had the right of way (I didn't have a stop sign) I was at point blank range, a sitting duck and there was nothing I could do. Her Buick hit my right side. The bike is totaled. I just can not understand how in the world she did not see me at such a close distance. I was not going fast. I saw her the whole way, she pulled up, made a complete stop, looked like she would stay there, but at the last second she came out.

  • That sucks. I just got the silver tourer last week, love it so far. That same thing almost happened to me last summer, missed the guy by like two feet. People are idiots.

  • @jcpghpa I have had people stare straight at me while they are pulling out on to the road. They have actually made eye contact, while I'm whaling on the horn, and still proceeded to pull out in front of me. The problem is most people don't care about driving, just getting where they are going so they don't THINK.

  • @jcpghpa Sucks to lose such a nice bike that way. Stupid dumb cagers. Gotta watch out for them man. I hope some day you can get another bike if you don't already have another. I have an 09 kawasaki vulcan 900 classic.

  • @Dp908 Thanks! No bike yet, but I do miss it and would love to get another. But my wife won't have it...

  • @jcpghpa

    shes a woman... enough said

  • I just brought home a new black one last week. It's my 1st streetbike & I'm having a ball on it! I only have 115 mileson it so far but spend everyday after work cruising around town breaking it in. Awesome bike!

  • How's it going with that 950? I don't know about you, but it seems to me the more used I get to it the better I like it. Compared to the 750's I've had this bike seems to be built a little more for Highway riding and not for back-road riding. The 950 isn't nimble for a "little" bike, but I think it does great between 55 and 75mph. Not too many complaints from me, but number one would be the ground clearance. I like to lean into them every now and then...

  • this bike is a beauty mate!!

I've dreamt of owning this bike long before its production...I'll wait to get the used ones in the near future~one gorgeous tommy blue right there!!!

  • Thanks! I know the bike lost value as soon as I drove it home, but I was pretty sure this was the bike I wanted and I didn't want to wait because I had a buddy that I really liked to ride with.

  • No, the bike doesn't lose value as long as you'll always have it =] It is the best to own it as new and keep it for the rest of your life~maybe make it into a chopper in the future when it's a bit old~or just keep it classy like the way it is now! I just can't afford a brand new bike, so gotta wait~good pick!

  • i'm not gonna spam on here, but apparently there is a CHEAP and easy way to get a lot better sound out of the pipe: drill a hole through the disk that's closing off the 2 chambers inside the exhaust. for more info, check out starbikeforums. haven't tried it yet myself

  • Thanks for the advice, but I'd rather not drill holes just to change the sound. I think I might like the look of 2 exhaust pipes instead of one and it would be nice if it improved the performance too. I'm in no rush to make changes, especially ones that can not be reversed.

  • I know you want to find out what the bike can do, Well here's a preview: I've had no problem getting the bike up to 95 and it feels like a lot is left. I rode from Melbourne Florida to Jacksonville on I95 at a pretty steady 75mph (175 miles) and the bike performed flawlessly. Seems to run smoother after break in. I've had several bikes, this is the first new one, the first one I've had to break in

  • Have you made any performance enhancements to your bike? I'm not big on "gunning it", but my last bike was a Harley V-Rod and it was nice to put the hammer down every now and then, you know? I'm keeping my eye out here on youtube and on facebooks for people making changes to their 950's. These sites are so cool for people with common interests.

  • nice bike def need some new pipes tho

  • Thanks. About the pipes: Not loud enough for you? Don't like the 2 to 1 looks? Or do you think new pipes will help the bike's performance?

  • You are gonna love this bike! I have the same one same color, Dealer added Tall windscreen and sissy bar when purchased, i have added engine guard, passing lights and rear rack. After 1500 miles the bike runs like a champ cruises nicely at 75mph. I have not attempted to find top speed. The Stock seat sucks! I purchased the Airhawk seat pad which took care of the problem and will eventually replace the seat with a Mustang or Corbin seat.

  • I just added a medium size windshield and went for a 210 mile ride today. This bike does so well in 5th gear between 50 and 75 mph. My butt is a little sore after more than 4 hours of riding. So far I really like this bike.

  • Good move adding the windscreen. Be careful during the break in period tho. You just don't want to "stress" the engine for the first 900 miles or so, which means no prolonged rides at steady speeds or high revs.

  • This is my third bike I'm breaking in. This one is tougher to break in because it has no tachometer, but I think I have a good feel for it. I try not to stay at the same speed for very long and I've been on many roads that make me shift through the gears. I'm not out on the highway doing 70mph all day. And I'm anxious to find out how much zip this bike has. I'm not going to push it until after the first check up, like you said 900 miles or so. Thanks for the advice.

  • I have 88 miles on it so far. Just cruising, break in miles, I don't know how it will perform under the gun. My last bike was a 2003 H-D V-Rod. The V Star is nice, but the V-Rod is tough to beat, especially performance wise. I'm only 5" 6" and the V Star 950 is a great bike for someone my height, it fits me, but still has the feel of a bigger cruiser. Nice tourque at low RPMs. So far I like this bike very much. The reviews I read seem very accurate so far.
