I love the quick tempo! My top show choir just performed it and the lively speed makes it that much more difficult, advanced, and fun to hear. Singing something this complicated this quickly is the exact OPPOSITE of "taking the easy way out." I have this vid bookmarked because I love this song! Job well done, I say!
For me, that just sounds like taking the easy way out.
The best part about singing is mastering how the original composer wanted the song to sound like, not to change the score to whatever fits the choir the best.
Lol, no the best part of singing is hearing beautiful music using the universal voice. How change and rearrange tht music doesnt matter. Lol. I'm sorry their performance disappointed you, but by round of applause I think the audience(The people they're singing for) enjoyed it ;)
you know nothing about music! it is supposed to be allegro and thats what it is! if the choir likes performing it that way, who are you to say that it is great? I am singing it in my choir right now and we are doing it that quickly!
We used to sing "rounds" like this in primary school-- but not nearly as good!

That's not the way Rutter wrote it, sorry.
Obviously you've never sang it before, how sad for you.

Lol, yeah prolly not, but a lot of choirs arrange music according to their singers and the choir's taste.
