If I may, I would like to share a little bit of personal history that I have for the Count Basie Theater. I sat here and watched the TLV and seeing inside from the balcony down to the stage, GOD....how it brought back memories for me. When I was attached to the theater, it was a movie theater and her name was the Carlton. My Father (Who has long since passed on) was the theater manager there in the early 1970's. (About 1973-1974 or 75) He brought me with him at night and I played all over the

Yes, very uncomfortable. I was there before the renovation for a Fogerty concert and it was very cramped - and I'm 5' 11". I can't imagine what the poor guy this past weekend felt like or anyone else over six feet.
So glad to hear you had a great time at Kevin Smith, and happy you are pleased with the results of this phase of our renovations. Thank you for supporting the Basie! :)
The theatre is great. We attended the Tony Bennett Concert and it was awesome, but would it have killed anyone to add more leg room. There was a poor man in the upper level that was 6'8" tall and he had to endure two hours in the fetal position. Otherwise, the renovation was perfect.
I recently went to a concert at the newly renovated Wellmont theater in Montclair and thought the same thing. I actually had to undo my belt for some breathing room. I was thinking of catching Boz Scaggs here in January, but if it's as cramped as the Wellmont I'll probably pass.
If you'll remember, there was heavy snowfall that day and I had to tend to shoveling for my parents in North Jersey. So regrettably, I wasn't able to take this show in but did catch Boz three days later in Englewood. I will keep an eye on the schedule as I certainly want to add the Basie to list of venues I've experienced.
Sorry to hear you missed the show. If you'd like to give me your email address, I'd be happy to add you to our e-news so you get notified the MOMENT a show goes on sale. Let me know, and thanks again for supporting the Basie! :)

lets hope the sound system has also been renovated. So the seats are still uncomfortable?
