2nd Generation Pogoplug Unboxing

If I wasn't able to mount pogoplug as a virtual drive in linux, I'd throw it in the trash! The first android pogoplug app hardly worked, but at least I could view .avi files. The new app has a pop up that says"must have video player that supports .avi files",although with the original app I used the default video player on my elocity a7 and it played these files just fine. Further more when I try to use the original pogoplug android app doesn't work. Don't waist your money.

I like this so I might buy the biz version, as its not all black like the pro but its the same as this normal version but black on the outer instead of pink. it also has cool features on the biz version like emailing to it to add files to it. But i assume theres no password or anything so I might just buy the pro also the pro has wifi so. I really don't know which to buy lmfao. Great unboxing.

Anyone know if it will power the device? got 2 2.5" drives from my old laptops in a non powered enclosure. do i also need a extra powered hub?

I just got mine in two days ago. Mine was also dusty inside!?!? It took mine quite awhile to transcode everything and when I try to view anything on it while streaming anything else it makes the video I am streaming from the net lag??? Maybe it's just my old router? I will say that so far I am still glad I have it and hope to put it to good use in the future. I always wanted the first Gen. model but now I am glad I waited for this one.

I had the 1st gen PogoPlug, sold it on eBay. This 2nd gen intrigues me, not to the point of purchase, but was wondering if anyone has an opinion whether I should drop another $130 on 2nd gen PogoPlug or spend $100 on upgrading Dropbox account? Or combination of both? Any opinions?

Im in the UK and have been patiently waiting for the PogoPlug since it appeared earlier this year!

Im a bit annoyed the company behind it haven't been a bit quicker in shipping internationally. There is definitely a market for it.

The amount of time I spend with an external HDD hanging off my macbook pro (like I am now) is huge.

One less cable to worry about - which gives a little bit more freedom when using a laptop - is worth the money alone!

@mikitymike what about firewire? because i have firewire drives is there a firewire version?

You might be able to find a firewire to usb adapter somewhere, or a device similar to pogoplug for firewire devices.

Also could buy USB external hard drive covers, and unscrew your firewire external hdd's and place them in the USB ones, but an adapter sounds easier.
