Wow...memories...I was 24 when this song came out....I was totally in love...music just is not the same...thank GOD for Unsung doing a piece on Bobby Womack...that made me look for this song...wow...
After many years of searching....my love has finally come at last...more than what I asked for...God is good. Love has finally come...and I'm never gonna give it back!!! Bobby and Patti, thank you for this joint!
@blaquediamond4u He will come when your mind is totally focused on something trivial like finding somewhere to sit in an assembly or passing up one food joint for another, etc....and one day "bam"!!!!Trust in the Lord and most of all "BELIEVE"...read JOHN 16:24 and write down the date you wrote it and forget about it and live...you will contact me after while and let me know about "HIM"...Good luck!!!!!!!!!
I was 11 when this song came out.I was mature for my age and I understood these love songs and I sing them to any girl who listened, lol.I still sing OS classics to ladies.
@tonwil06 21! I was 19 when I first heard this joint Spring of 84' I still think about my little girlfriend when I hear this joint. Music is a good way to go down memory lane I know pictures are too but music lets you groove at the same time. I realized certain smells also, like I go back to 85-86 when I smell Lagerfeld & Grey flannel or, this is a good one right there, Prince Matchabelli and Pierre Cardin I go right back to 1980-81 a sophomore in High school. I could go on forever ;-) Peace...
They were screaming like crazy in this song. I love the song, but it sounded like they were trying to out sing each other, which made the song a bit comical. Although miss Patti is known for trying to out sing herself.
Love this song!!! Two steppin and slow draggin in the club with the guy you been eyeballing all nite. Out of all the women in the club he comes over to your table and takes your hand and ask you to dance. Damn he was looking so fine and smelling so good. Had a thick herringbone chain around his neck and wrist and a gold pinky ring on his finger. He made you feel like you were the only woman in the place. Thanks for the memories and the posting.
i bought this album when i met my girlfriend and she became my wife and we had two beautiful daughters, sadly we are no longer married, but i have to beautiful daughters still and also a good friend, wonderful memories of a wonderful time
never again wil there be any music like this..... these voices have a melody that no one has ever heard.. I WAS A YOUNG ADULT WHEN THIS SONG AND BOBBY'S MUSIC CAME OUT AND ITS A CLASSIC. AND I AM SO GLAD I WAS THERE AND HERE TO APPRECIATE IT... THANKS FOR THE POST..... AND I DO MEAN THANKS FOR THIS CLASSIC.
@tonwil06 Glad to know I'm no\t the only one who notices. And the killer part is when this song was out, I heard it more than I wanted to (I was a teenager then & was into club & hiphop). Now I can't hear this on the radio to save my life.
Me too. My pops came into my room when I was in highschool, and he said, "boy you jammin'" and I thaught I was da bomb, LOL. And to this day when he come to my home, I try to have Popi say those same words to me. And on a good day, he do. I be BLESSED.
Truly an Awesome Duet!! Those Songs that were written by Bobby Womack, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and others makes you appreciate songs of that caliber!! Songs with meaning!!

omg i was going to say te exact same thing mshoney thanks for saying forme lol great song i used to play this all the time thanks tonwil06 for sharing
I can't believe I'm sharing this, but....back when this song was out and I was, um, inexperienced, I wanted to play this song the first time I was with someone. (Puts on DORK hat)
Sweet ? I KNOW it took a lot to share that story, But don't feel left out, LOL. We ALL did some interesting stuff back in da day. BUT I for one ain't da woman you are !! They 'll shut me down if I tell my stories, LOL, lol, lol !! tonwil, thanks for sharing.
Oh God, this song did it to me!!! It put me in that one state of mind that happens when you hear a song that you havn't heard in a real long time and you thought you forgot about it. and it brings back all kinds of memories!!!! I love when that happens.
Pat has always been a passionate singer. This is a beautiful duet. She knows how to blend and make it beautfiul and meaningful. Brings back good memories for me. Thanks for posting. Great music track!
"Tonybonek", wow! That takes me back! I can see Mama, Granny, and my Aunts in the kitchen fixing up food to take on our back porch. I can see the men sitting up the shade tree and listening to this song! I do remember! Thanks for taking me back! LOL!
This song takes me back to saturday mornings watching mom's doing here crazy dances and dad out in the yard washing his car getting ready for a day at the park. PRICELESS!!!!!!
yea, this takes me back to when my parents would dance to this song in my older brother's bedroom while he was hangin out with his freinds. He had the record player in his bedroom all the time..lol.
I remember when this song came out when i was about 8 years old. I knew then as i know now, this song is extremely special. He sung this at a concert May 08 in Humble, Texas and tore it up. He is a bad man!!
I think that the music produced by Bobby on this album, especially the duets with Patti were as good as he ever got.I find that Patti, despite having a voice that puts her up there with Aretha, Gladys and Candi tends towards the histrionic. Here she is reined in and is much much the better for it.
know alotta folk complain about music not being music anymore but is anyone even writing music like this anymore??? nowadays it's a thump, thump and/or talkin' about stupid caca. if people go back and write music like this, they WILL (hopefully) sing it!!! here's wishin' and hopin'.....
Absolutely. This is music, the lyrics really mean something, the music touches your soul....Nowadays, it's just all computer generated beats and it all sounds the same, no passion at all.
Yeah i agree with you to a point tonwil06. I try to at least respect all music whether i like it or not, but some of these artists(Not Musicians)take a classic and I won't say ruin it,but don't do the song any justice at all. In my opinion.....I guess I'm just from another generation. I'm into singers and musicians.
Oh WOW and Why we don't hear songs like this anymore? This reminds me back in the days listening to WHUR (Wash,DC) Quiet Storm with Melvin Lindsay. Yes, I am going wayyy back.

It will only come back if we buy the music of and support true RnB artist. It's so bad these days that only the 'teens' are buying the music, so that's who record labels cater to.
i've been tring 2 find out myself. i wasn't old as u in fact i wasn't even born but i know good music. very strong words that make u think about your first time. lol
Wow, just listen to the lyrics, melody, arrangements etc. Meaningful and time spent in those days on songs and lyrics. artists of today please take note
This might be something only a musician would pick up on, but the chord progression on the intro is the EXACT same one on George Benson's version of "Breezin"--which was written by Bobby Womack. And that little 16th note run on the intro with the piano is also the EXACT same run on the melody of "Breezin'". Listen CLOSELY and you'll hear it. I picked up on it myself about 10-12 years ago.
I agree!I've never been to Oakland, but i've been to L.A. for the first time in 2007.The gangs out there are something else in South Central. My wife & I are tired of going to Chicago & New York City, that ain't no where from tha "D".We plan on doing the west coast thang on our next vacation.Thanx for tuning in & keep your head up.
This is one of my favourite records, theybsing so well together.....they are great, I saw these some years back at Hammersmith Odeon, and they sound even better1

Yeah, new soul music is almost non-existent right now. But listening to this is like hearing it all over again for the first time. The best!
