  • @player3172 Mortimer? does that sound right?

  • I appreciate the video. It made me cry because it reminded me of my childhood and the time I spent with my mother before she passed.

  • Okay, I tried to fight back the tears, but this just forced 'em out. Man, I hope Heaven allows us to relive our greatest childhood moments.

  • @KurtKokaine1 Damn, that's funny because I feel the same way. I sure hope so.

  • wow forgot about this one

  • I remember going to the library to get picture pages :)

  • my childhood!

  • Oh my God...talk about bringing back memories. The house I was in when this show was on the air is demolished now, gone. But I swear to god seeing this, I felt the couch my brothers and I sat in and I have a very clear memory of the inside of that house. Eerie.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Now ya zee, the kids today, they don't know what they's missin' on the modern-day Nick. They think they alllll got it made with the Hannah Bananas and the Justin beavers and the hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin'... Ya zee, the old Nick is like the old MTV, or Kodak color film, or a Jello puddin' pop, heh heh heh.

  • Can you believe Nickelodeon used to have reruns of this in the EARLY 90s? Can you even imagine that shit box that is modern-day Nickelodeon showing stuff like this?

  • TRUE and HONEST version.

  • great memories!

  • I never had the Mortimer Ichabod Marker pen, but I so wanted one. My parents did subscribe to Picture Pages, but canceled after only one or two issues, since it was pretty expensive.

  • Oh wow! I forgot all about this show!

  • I had the Mortimer pen! I LOVED this show and I never missed an episode. This song and the "pinwheel" song are still stuck in my head to this day. I walk around singing them wherever I am...I've gotten quite a few laughs in the Commissary (we are an Army family). My kids think I am CRAZY! lol!

  • I had the Mortimer pen. I absolutely LOVED this show when I was a little kid and never missed an episode. I still, to this day, walk around singing this. My kids think I am crazy! lol

  • For about 30 years I have been singing this in my head (very rarely, but for 30 years.) I was OCD about making sure to sing every word from beginning to end. I sung it in my head or out loud - if alone and the mood struck me. It is great to be able to come here and validate myself in the glory that is this song. I hope that by coming here and playing it over and over, in time I will be able to overcome its grip.

  • Those crayons look like penises.

  • what is bill going to do to that dog?

  • Definitely never forgot this! And that Mortimer Ichabod marker Bill Cosby had was sweet! :D

  • I haven't heard this song in YEARS!!!

  • sweeeet!

  • great show great memories. Funny how a song can come on and you know every word.

  • hey

watch my drawings :) im beginner btw...

    please subscribe :D

    thank you

  • They used to have these in some of my mom and grandmas magazines I would quickly grab the sheet out and tear it out of magazine and get to work on it.

  • I haven't seen this in YEARS.

  • this cartoon was originally aired on nickelodeon in 1979

  • @carlosmercado1000 this was on captain kangaroo on cbs

  • lol, good the "real" intro

  • Hey, I like that!

I would like to say that hearing this takes me on a trip down Memory lain. That is, back to the time when I was but a little bitty boy.

  • Ah, I LOVED this as a kid!

My favorite one was one where he had KITTENS wearing little numbers like they were in a race.

I WANNA SEE PICTURE PAGES KITTENS!!!

  • pIcture pages, pictures pages, I could never find those blasted books or the pen! and I thought those kids drew a foot

  • can anyone guide me to where I can get my own mortamer icobod marker. it woudl make a great christmas gift. thank you.

  • Holy crap, what a memory! This is one of those shows that you look back on and think......"I can't believe I used to watch this.' LOL!! It's funny how weird, things seem, seeing them again after SO MANY years.

  • I 100% agree! This song struck a nerve in my brain and boy the memories started!

  • I'm still waiting for my picture pages to show up in the mail. What is funny my wife is too. Bill Cosby got rich off both of our parents money and never came through on mailing us our picture pages...that's why we still hold Speed Buggy as # 1

  • I used to like picture page!!!!

  • Holy shit what a trip!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • oh! my! god!!! i freakin' loved PICTURE PAGES!!!

  • I can't get over how cool that chord change is when the lyric is "time to get your crayons and your pencils". What is that? Any Berkeley grads want to shed some light on what's going on?

  • Basically it's a five chord during "crayons and your pencils" then does an inverted major third to land on the six where it picks up. The cool thing you're hearing is the major third and the way the base goes from the fifth up a half step to the heart of that major third etc etc.

    true

  • i am 38, and i still sing this to my kids, just to annoy them. 3 years later.

  • oops, i meant 30

  • I swear, YOUTUBE is the closest invention to a "time machine" there is!!!!!! Jeeeeeeesus I haven't heard this jingle in over 30 years!!

  • HERE HERE!

  • A time machine? Hmmmmmm.

  • No, retrojunk is the closest time machine

  • You said it

  • @Apsu72 LOL, *head nod*. Only came across it cause I was looking for the original Cosby Show intro. Don't think I would've remebered this otherwise.

  • I was more into "Pinwheel" and "Today's Special," but I watched this on Nickelodeon too.

  • this was apart of pinwheel's programming

  • is it just me or did that crayon look like a Penis i could be wrong

  • I loved this show!! I wanted that pen

  • Such an addicting theme song!

  • WOW i forgot about this

  • XD toon Cosby owns

  • i totally had forgotten about picture pages!WOW...thank you sooo much for restoring apart of my childhood that i had burried deep deep into my subconscious like so many other childhood guilty pleasure's that get lost in coping with adult trivial matters.

  • OMG i use to watch this everymorning!! Thank u for posting this!!

  • Time to get your crayons and your pencils

  • Comment removed

  • This has officially shaved off about 19 years of my life back to when i was 10.

    daaaaamn. :-)

  • I remember watching this during Pinwheel..classic!!

  • that Motamer Marker was the coolest marker in the WHOLE UNIVERSE....

  • @gtz1975 LMAO.

  • Yes they did have hbo in the 70s

  • 0:08 = fail

  • They should bring this back.

Children's TV is a complete mess nowadays.

  • i'd rather watch fraggle rock

  • I forgot that cosby was on electric company, damn he had such educational shows for years. I vividly remembered his segment.

  • they said he cut his salary expectations way, way back for the Electric Company as it was a project direct from President Nixon to help kids reading skills

  • Aw man. Nostalgia ho! Picture Pages rocked.

  • How come they didn't cuss on this show? It should have been on HBO so Bill Cosby could have said "oh fuck" when he got one wrong.

  • You can't be series??? I hope you know there was no HBO back then

  • it was a children's show that's why.

  • This reminds me of getting ready for school in the morning when I was about 7. If I close my eyes I can smell the school cafeteria and that low-budget breakfast they'd feed us. Man, growing up sucks...

  • when the kid picks up the pink crayon and draws with it, it looks like a pink wobley dildo

  • man o man does this take me back to when the days were brighter back in 83-84.

  • I loved this

  • it did not

  • Wow. This might be the first TV show I ever watched as a kid. I'm 25 and I feel like those days are light years away!

  • I wanted that damn marker so bad when I was 7! I can probably find one on ebay.

  • The marker sucked... it didn't make that noise like it did on T.V.

  • because that dildo makes a funny noise when he uses it, dummy

  • lol saw the pic and thought it was a didlo

  • This reminds me of my childhood. I loved this show. I remembered most of the song and video.

  • ugh

  • I watched this show all the time, when it was on Captain Kangaroo

  • Every time I watch "Juno", I think of this song. I still want a Mortimer Ichabod Marker.

  • Ummm...please remind me. Who was Mortimer Ichabod?

  • Mortimer Ichabod was the name of the marker Bill Cosby used.

  • OH! I never knew the pen had a NAME! Thank yo VERY much! I am hard-of-hearing, so I mostly WATCHED the programs. This was BEFORE Closed Captioning! Thank you whoever invented Closed Captioning!

  • No problem. I only remembered it because it sounded really British and I was obsessed (and still slightly am) with anything British, LOL. Yes, whoever invented CC is a godsend.

  • What did you think of the Monty Python Movies? Rowan Atkinson? (Bean) - (Johnny English, "Phphphribbit!")

  • I know im jumping in the conversation here but whatever, Python and Bean were great, no doubt but the best comedies for my dollar out of Jolly Ole' has to be The Young Ones and Ab Fab. Just my opinion

  • Who were in "The Young Ones", & "Ab Fab"?

  • The only actor from Young Ones of real note was Rik Mayall who's claim to fame was playing Drop Dead Fred but that whole cast is awesome, and Ab Fab stared Jennifer Saunders of French and Saunders fame and Joanna Lumley. There are clips of these shows on youtube if your interested, funny shit

  • I miss being a kid. I had the Picture Pages book.

  • FLASHBACK!!! I remember watching this on Nickelodeon when I was a little tyke!

  • I remember this show when I was 5. I used to pretend I had my own little "Ichabod Marker" thingy Bill always used, and I'd make the sound effects too. :D

  • You know, I had a set of picture pages and pen that I use to use during the shows prime on Captain Kangaroo. Time marches on.

  • holy shit, i remember this when i was little.

  • wow this was like the very first show I remember. I was like 2 and I remember this. I loved this show, used to sing the jingle all the time.

  • I loved this

  • omg! i love this lol ♥♥♥♥

  • I always wanted my mom to order that book they would advertise at the end. Does anyone know if they are for sale anywhere?

  • The funny thing is I had this song in my head at 3 am yesterday and had to come and find it :)

  • I had found myself singing this song in Sam's Club a few days ago. I hadn't even THOUGHT about this show for years and then BAM, there I was singing it. Picture Page will never let you leave it's grasp! lol! :)

  • Who sings this?

  • that looks more like a foot or a tree then Bill's head.

  • If they threw in an Eddie Murphy "IIIIII.... would like to talk.....to YOOOOUUUUUUU", Jell-O pudding Pops, the Fat Albert sliding paint brush that magically jumps up and dots the exclamation point during the opening credits on the fence of the junkyard, the Brown Hornet, and have a Coke and a smile and shut the fuck up from Richard Pryor this show would be worth watching

  • picture pages and pudding pops!!!! hahaha!!!!!!

  • This show just popped into my head all of a sudden and I caught myself singing the jingle.

"Picture Pages, Picture Pages, Lots of Fun With Picture Pages..."

    Monique Briand

  • are you for real! I remember this like it was yesterday

  • Memories!!!!! This is what kids' TV should be :)

  • Oh man - this brings back memories.

  • hahaa, can someone tell my why some people comment on these old ass nothing but nostalgic videos and get all technical on us?!? I'm just happy to hear the picture pages song for the first time in 20 years!

  • time to get your crayons and your pencils! lol

  • HAHAHAH hellz yeah yo,picture pages!!!

  • Does this make anybody else want to drop a bunch of acid and make funny noises when drawing on a whiteboard?

  • Picture Pages! I so wanted a Mortimer Ichabod Marker.

  • Used to show on Nickelodeon,in the early 80's.

  • Yay!

  • Woah, this gave me a flashback.

  • Bill Cosby's Picture Pages Show ran only for one season. That was 1984.

  • i miss these shows.. oh well

  • Wow oh wow....I had a subscription to this as a kid. I even had the cool pen. Except mine never made the sweet noises it was supposed to. Im still mad about that!

  • I remember this! OMG! LOL!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. It really brings back memories!

  • i am so freakin' happy right now!

  • i remember this. WOW!

  • WTF

  • The pen was called "Mortemer The Icybod Marker".

  • never heard of this in my life...

  • yes

    Jennifer Ennett

  • Picture pages, picture pages, time to get your picture pages....

  • I am so friggin old. WOW!

  • Good times man, Good times

  • didn't bill have a pen that looked like a bee or something?? i swear when i was 4 i had a pen like that or something..

  • OMG!!!!!!

  • Ah, Cosby's coke days.

  • Who was that with Lassie at the very beginning?

  • It's Bill Cosby.....

  • Bill Cosby...

    hah.

  • they always showed this during pinwheel....oh man

  • YAY! No one I know remembers this show - they all think Im nutz!

  • I felt the same way I remember I kept telling my peers, "I SWEAR there was a show called pinwheel...and the one w/ bill cosby and the big marker.."

  • i was singing this tune while climbing up kilimanjaro. how old school!

  • what were you doing in Kilimanjaro? seeing the snow. Watching it rise like olymous above the serengeti?

  • Thank You!

  • My stepmother mailed away for my "Picture Pages" when I was 5. I swear they never came until I was 7.

  • hahaha

  • I can't even tell you how many times I've gotten this jingle in my head over the years and wondered how it really went. Now I know!

  • GAD FREAKIN ZOOKS!!!! That was AWESOME

  • this vid was just on the radio about 10 minutes ago, i forgot all about this until preston and steve played it

  • GADZOOKS!!!

  • one of those songs that stuck with me.... just like the school house rock songs!! love it!

  • The art style in the cartoon intro looks *exactly* like the

    School House Rock style.

  • I totally had my own Mortimer pen

  • Lol!!!

  • love trhat song.i got my picture pages before bill cosby did them though, back when captain kangaroo did them.

  • OMG!!!! I REMEMBER THAT!!! I always wanted that marker but my mom wouldn't get it for me!!

  • This was my favorite thing as a kid. My parents one time ordered me a subscription to it. I was so disappointed when it arrived and my marker didn't sing like his!!! One of the great disappointments in my childhood. lol

  • Yes! This was also one of my big disappointments as a young child. It was also a letdown for me when giant pieces of fruit didn't fall on me after eating a Bonkers candy...I am 100% serious when I say I expected that.

  • I'd actually stand in my front yard near our neighbor's wall and yell (at the top of my lungs) "HEY KOOLAID!" then wait for that big pitcher to come crashing thru the wall -- also 100% serious!

  • You think that's bad, back in the 80's I used to beg my mom

to call that "Chuckles the clown" hotline because I thought

it would turn me into a rockstar. (for those who don't know)

  • (claymation clown begins singing)

Time to rock and roll with chuckles the clown, we

are waiting for the sound of your tone,

(scene cuts to kid jumping on bed who changes into a rock star)

you can be in the chuckles band just sing into the telephone!

Kid: I can be in the chuckles band, I just sing into the telephone!

  • yaaaaaaayyyyyy! retrostalgic!

  • OMG! I had my mom send away for my own picture pages book!!
