  • JAJAJA EL QUE NO SABE ES COMO EL QUE NO VE Y EL BUEN HUMOR ES PARA INTELIGENTES NO CRITIQUEMOS LO QUE NO ENTENDEMOS. LO DIGO POR ESTE COMENTARIO: wakala que video tan mas culero jajaja bUENO AMIGO ESTA FUE UNA PARODIA DE LOS BEATLES QUE TUBO MUCHO EXITO Y HASTA LLEGARON APARTICIPAR EN ELLA MICK JAGUER Y HASTA EL MISMO GEORGE HARRISON PERO ESTA BIEN TU OPINION POR QUE A LOS QUE NOS GUSTA LA IMAGEN D LOS BEATLES NOS PARECE ASI COMO MALA BURLA

  • the film of the rutles isn't a micky take, it's a loving tribute.

  • wakala que video tan mas culero jajaja

  • Nasty was right, The Rutles WERE bigger than Rod!

  • what is this shit??

  • Welease Woger!!!!

  • Monty Python strikes again??? That's Eric Idle as Paul.

  • they fucking are kinda like the beatles

  • My favourite Rutles song.

  • So funny, I wish I could meet Neil Innes.

  • I've met Neil Innes

  • I get to see him live this year!

  • I'm embarrassed to say I know more of the Ruttles songs than the Beatles. :)

  • lol, that is funny

  • that's true blasphemy

  • i know the whole film is wrong the beatles were brill these are just a mockery

  • errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - thats the idea!

  • but it should never have been made

  • Its like the tune to All My Loving :)

    goooood video eh =D

  • The decision to cast an Asian guy in the role of George was brilliant

  • Um. The "Asian guy" is Ricky Fataar, who was with the Beach Boys in the early 70's and a fine musician in his own right. He and Blondie Chaplin were in a group called the Flames in the UK before that. FYI

  • This was 1964 not 1963. I remember when this aired. The Rutles went on to be big in the 60s and i still drink tea every morning... life would not be the same without rutles and tea... i still have the china tea pot i used back in the day!

  • parody of all my loving?

  • in part... quite clearly the tune is based on that but they also use the double "please please" and the words "hold my hand", making this a mish mash of all my loving, please please me and i want to hold your hand.

  • and "she loves you" (the "yeah yeah")

  • and mainly just great fun to listen to, on a par with the Fabs themselves.

Neal Innes is at the very least an amazing savant when it came to pegging those 'other guys'.. brilliant

  • It's not really on a par with the fabs, because when the beatles wrote the songs they wrote them from scratch, Inness just took their tunes and make beatle-like sounding songs, which dosen't require beatle-like talent, but now i'm being boring... ;P

  • You are not being boring at all! I love discussions like this with fellow Beatleheads.

And furthermore-- you're right, and my comments were misguided.

  • Thanks! I understood what you meant though. The Rutles are classic and it's a great tounge in cheek tribute to the world's greatest group!

  • Man, I forgot how brilliant the Rutles are!!

    (haven't seen it in years)

    Thanks for posting!

  • because it's a parody??????????????????

  • You can tell this is Ed Sullivan introuducing the Beatles. Just listen to the way the name of the band is edited.

  • George is even in this film!

  • LOL

  • Lennon said on Tom Snyder show in late 70's that if he were not a Beatle that he would have liked to be in the Monty Python Flying Circus. That's the Rutles, so lighten up.

  • pathetic

  • This is by far the biggest mistake on the internet..IDIOTS!

  • Why did they give Nasty a Gibson SG instead of the Rick 325?

  • Ive always wondered that very same thing.

  • cos john had the only 1 in the world at the time, george and gerry had the only 12 6string ricks in world at the time, they were one offs specially designed for them, you can get em now though i got 1 :-)

  • que clase de insulto es este?

  • I remember the rumor that Barry Wom was killed in a freak accident at the zoo in 1967. At the end of W.C. Fields Forever, you can hear someone say "I Pawed Barry." Strange...

  • The lead singer is doing a fantastic impression of John's early vocal style

  • It was great when the Rutles played Che Stadium (named after some Cuban guerilla leader?).

  • I'd love to visit the place where Dirk and Nasty first bumped into each other. They were of course soon joined by Stig O'Hara of no fixed hair style. Love Barrington Womble too. I'm glad they persuaded him to change his name to save time and his haircut to save Brylcreem and that he simply became Barry Wom. The pre-fab four are my favourite group from the 60's. I can't stand how the Beatles blatantly ripped off everything the Rutles ever did.

  • This is a "spoof" of the beatles. There is a whole movie on youtube about the "rutles" go look it up.

  • The Rutles story is a legend. A living legend.

A legend that will live a lifetime, long after lots of other living legends have died.

    They will be missed.

  • A legend that will last a lunchtime!

  • my grandmother slept with the drummer in 52

  • Cheers to that comment!

Tell your granny she's the best!

  • The world has yet to see a group that can surpass the Rutles! TEA AND BANANA!!!!!

  • Barry Wom was a highly underrated drummer. He never gets his due. Probably never will till he dies. Could be any day now. Alot of people say that The Rutles are dying in the reverse order that they should. I guess it's just a question of who will outlast who. Call me crazy, but I think it's gonna be Dirk, last man standing. It's just his fate.

  • The Beatles and Monty Phyton, I love them both. Eric is cute, isn't he?

  • i love when he does the big wo ho at the end!lol

  • I LOVE ERIC IDLE.

  • One thing that annoys me with this movie is that Dirk plays the bass with his fingers... Paul McCartney mostly played his bass with a pick!!!

  • who is this "Paul McCartney" you speak of?! Joking....

  • lol i love this movie

  • gotta love stig's foot tapping

  • All of the actors did a great job in the film, but Eric Idle's interpretation of Paul is probably my favorite part of the entire film.

  • I know this wasn't Beatles music but this is a really good soundtrack. Very good original music in this movie.

  • Barry is so sexy, I want him.

  • Beatles ripp-offs

  • Beatle ripp-offs? that's CRAZY talk!

  • Ha Ha, yeah you gotta laugh...Stig was my Fav Rutle!

  • Beatles rip-ons!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA....Eric Idle is funnier than hell with that stupid "look at me I'm so cute" look on his face. WHAT A KNUCKLEHEAD!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • it must have been the trousers

  • An interesting bit of trivia-the chap that plays the George Harrison part, Ricky Fataar; was a member of the Beach Boys in the early 70's. He played drums for them, among other things, while Dennis Wilson's hand recuperated from an accident.

  • how cool would that be if their sons all started a group. since they all look alot like their fathers.

  • It would be cool to see Neil Innes and McCartney collaborate-(being that he sounds so much like Lennon)Paul would never do it though....

  • These songs really work. In another world they could've been real hits. Especially this song.

    Neil Innes is Spot on!

  • Did you know that ATV which owns the rights to Beatles songs sued Neil Innes for Plagerism over these songs? Thus, Neil gets no dough for them. Wankers!

  • No way! Disgusting.

  • I think he was getting a small percentage. I also read that George was trying to get him money for them. What's also wild is the fact that Neil knocked out ALL of those Rutles songs in a matter of weeks!

  • I love the Rutles: Ron Nasty, Dirk McQuigley, Stig O'Hara and Barry Wom.

Neil Innes is a genius, these songs are great.

  • DUDE, this is a parody!!!!! ITS NOT REAL!!!!

  • Watch closely between 0:48 and 0:51 and you will see the cymbal on the drumset fall after it has been hit.

  • lol!

    i didnt notice tht

  • the BEATLES.

  • Im sure erics friend the late great george helped at least a little during the rutles smashing career lol. I heard George harrison picked up a guitar and started playing 'Instant Karma' after they played their songs for him, haha

  • Yeah. George was actually in the movie "All You need is cash"

  • haha, yeah he was interviewing Michael Palin while people were stealing things from Rutle Corp. HQ

  • He also helped out with The Life of Brian.

  • I think Eric Idle said (in the DVD commentary) that George and Ringo started singing this song to him one time.

  • Someone actually did a Rutles tribute album.

  • The Rutles > The Beatles :D

  • The comment below was addressed to thaibites but Yt did its usual trick of random placement.

PS For the mystified: The Rutles was featured on Eric Idles 'Rutland Weekend Television' which went out in about1976. It was Idle's first post-python venture.

  • Was John Cleese in this made-for-TV movie? I remember watching it when it first was shown (ca. 1978) but don't remember if John Cleese was in it. Weren't a number of of Python members in this movie??? I also thought I remember that pretty much the entire "Not Ready for Prime Time" cast members from SNL were in the movie (e.g., John Belushi playing Allen Klein's character, "Ron DeCline" or something like that).

  • Dunno about any of that. Cleese was making Fawlty Towers at the time but may have had a guest appearance.

Your username is striking because it is very close to the time of the first episode of Monty Python - made 7th Sept. 1969 and shown 5th Oct. What a year that was.

  • My user name is the the day, month, and year the Beatles were photographed crossing Abbey Road for their famous cover.....I thought the twelve Fawlty Towers episodes were made in 1975 and maybe a movie or something in 1979? The more I think of it, I don't think Cleese was in the Rutle movie.

  • wtf???? beatless??

  • yep, that's Eric Idle from Monty Python on the extreme left. He's playing the Paul McCartney character. He was a friends with George Harrison.

  • hey is this left guy from monty python?

  • Yes. That's Eric Idle.

  • talk about rutlemania

  • lol. wtf?

  • The Rutles Rule

  • The Rutles have always been one of my favorite bands. I was fortunate to have been able to see them play live on their first American tour in '63, back before I was born. Luckily, I made it backstage and obtained a urine sample from Stig! Awesome memory...I still have the sample down in my basement. Do you think it's worth anything on Ebay?

  • I'd bid on it

  • Are you sure you're not just taking the piss?

  • OH my god i loved this movie.....

i laughed so hard. i actully cried.

    :]

  • they are genius!:)Such accurate parody, incredible!

  • It's amazing right!? I love the guy that walks around narrorating [spelling?] the movie.

  • RUTLES 4EVER!

  • god bless Eric Idle!

  • A Rutle classic! One of their very best!!

(saw all this when it first came out, even got the album which followed. good then, still good now.)

  • Great band but why copy/make fun of the beatles?

  • Why not? George Harrison was a close friend and HE thought it was funny. The Brits are famous for being able to laugh at themselves. Besides, imitation is a form of flattery.

  • This was a satire written by Eric Idle of Monty Python bsck in the 1970's. The Rutles' film, "All You need is Cash" was filmed with many early Saturday Night Live stars and shown on NBC. If you get a chance, watch the entire special- it's really great!

  • they look like they are trying to copy the beatles!

  • that was EXACTLY the point

  • they're a parody band of the beatles.

  • by now I hope you figured it out that was a spoof

  • eric!

  • what the heck is a rutle?

  • What the heck is a Beatle if you're going to split hairs? ;-P

  • lol bless eric idle he funny !

  • Дебилы нах.

    (they are debils)

  • WHAT>>??? there will never be another Beatles.

this is just a silly comical skit.

  • Dirk, Nasty and who? Ha ha! Their songs are as good as the Beatles, at least the old stuff.

  • its funny because if the beatles had written this song and released in in 63 or 64 it probably would have hit #1 in the US and the UK.

  • this was my granddaddy's favorite song. My cousin used to ride in his cadillac with him singing along to this! I miss him so MUCH!

R.I.P. OB Teague I'll love you forever

  • thing is this song could easily be a beatles song lol they got it down so well. love the film, havnt seen it in a long time tho

  • Rutlemania Forever.........

  • haha ok!...deep breath!

  • Addies: Uh, yes it's a parody of the Beatles and meant to be funny - you didn't recognize Eric Idle from Monty Python playing "Paul"? The album that "The Rutles" put out was hysterically funny - although in the intervening years I seem to have lost it. Darn. Not a bad parody, come to remember it.

  • cute songg by the rutleees...

    i love them...

and i love the beatles D

  • Much better than those copy-cats the Beatles.

  • ha ha ha nice try you beatles wannabe's

  • Is this like a joke? I mean they're good but is this supposed to be a funny mockery of the beatles or somethin?

  • yes it is you fuckwit

  • hahaha i love how they just bounce up and down the whole time.

  • The whole is funny cause it's done with love for the Beatles. They aren't really making of fun of them. Actually the Beatles and aloved it and John especially liked it

  • I love the Rutles so much! It's weird becuz I actually began to like (and now OBSESS with) the Beatles! I listened to this song first, and thought of the parody is like this, imagine what the originals are like!! =] Neil and Eric are so awesomeeee

  • Gimme badfinger!

  • "Sorry, girls. He's engaged"! I wonder if this is where Tom Hanks got the idea to use that in "That Thing You Do". He was in a Rutles "mockumentary" called "Can't Buy Me Lunch", so it's possible.

  • This is a good example of how some Rutles songs parodied the title rather than the tune. We're expecting "I Want To Hold Your Hand", and instead hear a heavy-handed bongo bash ala "All My Loving", with a chorus (yeah, yeah) lifted from "She Loves You". Man, I love these Rutles!

  • Oh wow I didn't know that the monthy python group had such amazing music. lol.

  • The british sense of humor wins again!

  • This is hilarious!!!

  • its like big bang theory

  • please tell me why it says the rutles!

  • It's a spoof on "The Beatles" It's to make fun of their name by using a similar, funny sounding name.

  • The first song The Beatles played on the Ed Sullivan show was "All My Loving" and later "I Want To Hold Your Hand" so this song makes fun of both songs.

  • lol Oasis.. ha no shit huh... lol

  • I dident know that Eric Idle from "monty python" was with "The Rutles" im impressed :P

  • Thanks for pointing that out,how about all the python team join in lol

  • a very funny movie--"The Rutles"

  • I've never heard of The Rutles before .. they kind of remind of me of Oasis.

  • That's because Oasis emulated the style of the Beatles, and the Fab Four in their turn borrowed heavily from the "Pre-Fab Four" - The Rutles. Nobody has ever had a greater impact on rock culture than Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry.

  • I love the way they got the Indian guy to play George hahahaha.

  • rip of artists BEATLES 4EVA!!!!

  • loool

    omfg

  • Sounds kind of like "All My Loving"

  • Barry Wom...that name gets me everytime

  • it sux that i can find this video but i cant find the origonal beatles video

  • Then you're not looking hard enough, it's here on youtube.

  • Timing is everything. When the Rutles appeared on Ed Sullivan in early 1964, America needed cheering up after its charismatic President FKJ had tragically accepted a teaching post in Dallas

  • I love reading the comments on Rutle clips. It's amazing how many ignorant fools there are who do not understand what parody is.

  • THIS IS FANTASTIC !!! They caught the Beatles' mannorisms perfectly. Especially Neil Innes who plays John Lennon.

  • based on hold my hand dumasses. have you idiots ever heard satirical? I have this album and it is harder to find than most any beatle record exceapt the butcher cover. kids ,kids ,kids !I grew up watching the beatles.who was ya'lls group? FLOCK OF SEAGULLS! HA HA HA HA ON AND ON!

  • That was really bad editing with the Ed Sullivan voice. I don't know if it was meant to be a joke or not, but I think they could've done a better job.

  • I cant believe how many people dont know who the Rutles are. George Harrison produced this movie for christ sakes. One of the funniest parody's ever

  • To any "Beatle"fan who does not like this or speak English as his "mother tongue",please check-up the words "irony or parody" in your dictionary .

  • Sorry. Not funny. Not catchy. Not good.

  • Biggest rip off of the early Beatles I've ever seen
