That diesel doesn't have a chip. It's a mechanical controlled engine no ECM. 12 valve cummins it twin turboed, big time fuel the whole works it's owned by MadDog Richard Madson. And its a Cummins in a Ford.

The guy that owns that truck is in the process of putting on even bigger turbos. The engine in this truck is cummins 12valve. It runs 116 lbs of boost.

i had a f350 V-10 w/gasoline engine, worked great we towed a 12,000 pound boat with it for 4 years and no problems.. we just recently got a 03 ford excursion with the v-10 ( we heard many bad things about the desiel engines in the fords)

Only the 6.0 and 6.4 liter diesels are the bad ones. If you get one made before '03 or in early '03 you'll be good.

The 6.0's are to avoid. I had a 7.3 with superchip and it was beastly. Faster than my BMW from 20-70mph. The 6.4 has dual sequential turbos and is a monster. I'm confident in the 6.4 bringing back the reliability... I hope. It's so quiet and the King Ranch is a sweet truck. Hard to beat.

04 6.0 853 dynoed hp. Never had a problem with this truck other then damaged i have caused from racing. ^.4 stock isnt much stronger then the 6.0 stock. You wanna talk troubles? Ask your local dealer (tech not salesmen) about the 6.4.

my pops bought that truck for pulling his car but got the rawest model with no features except the biggest diesel and strongest rear. I hated it until we made a few modes like a reprogrammer for the computer, now all i can do is laugh... seeing that huge long bed 4dr 4x4 blow the tires, the power band is down right sexy. Next is the brakes If i weren't in L.A. now that would be my next buy.

P.S. The black smoke that rolls out of the pipe wouldn't go too well with the fake tree huggers in LA.

holy crap, 11s, but you should change the title to amazing what a diesel with "chip mods" can do, almost all diesel engines that aren't farm equipment have turbos (some farm equipment as well) and in fact im pretty sure all automotive diesels (modern anyway) have turbos.
