Yes u did, some of the cast made cameo appearances in this movie. It's a shame Johnny Depp did not make a cameo in this movie. Actually Wes Craven did plan on having Depp in this movie but Craven was too intimidated to ask Johnny Depp at the time to be in this movie. After the film was done being made and released in theaters Craven eventually met Johnny Depp again and told him what happened.

The reason this movie was the best sequel was because he wasn't over used, you idiot. Freddy's over exposure in the other sequels made him laughable and horrifically NOT scary. This film returned to the roots of the original film, and Robert Englund undoubtedly gave his best performance as Freddy

The other sequels are utter crap that are only fun from a "so bad they're good" stand point. New Nightmare was the only sequel to receive good critical reviews. And the point wasn't to make him "look more scary" it was to to make the character more like he was originally intended. This Freddy didn't fuck around, he didn't do overly elaborate kills- he just killed. None of the overly elaborate nonsense of the other sequels.

The sequels made Freddy into a joke. Here he's no nonsense.

I agree, The sequels made him a joke. I like this film and think this combined to the original would be great but in the first place I think they should've left the original to be the only. I think Freddy's quite unique character amongst the twisted in films. He should not have been explained & made into a joke on the side. Part 5 is similar to New Nightmare because Nancy is like Alice, Dylan is like Jacob, and Chase is like Dan. The characters and story shares similarities overall such as the characters are the same and Pt 5 and New Nightmare have that storyline where Freddy is coming after the child and the mother has to save the child.
