  • horrible technique.... plus your rating only like 31... you break you knees to early.

    Pick it up... no heart.

Im 14 and I got 6:35 in 2k erg.... 3 seconds off NZ Record.

  • Pretty good, but you need to bring your hands in front befor you bend your knees more. There are six points of connection.

  • try using your back more to get more reach. and on your recovery make sure that your arms are out first before your legs start to bend. streching your back will fix all of these problems

  • Establish a catch angle with your body before coming up the slide. It has to be a pivot from the hips. That prevents you from hitting your knees with the handle.

  • you aren't that bad, the one thing you might want to work on is going legs then back and THEN arms instead of arms throughout the whole stroke

  • The guy next to you has pretty good technique; his recovery is better than yours. Notice how he extends his arms and tilts his back forwards before he breaks his knees. Also note how he reaches forward more at the catch.

  • just look at the guy next to you

  • Thats a useful tecnic for someone who is not a rower. Your leg and armwork is strong. Try bending your hips a little more when you prepare for a new stroke, so u get your upper body closer to your knees. This way you get som more lenght in the front of your stroke, and you should be abel to get some more speed. Good luck!

  • lol the lady filming trying to be a coxswain hahaha so great and ur rlly stiff and need to use your body more ur arms and legs look pretty good and your finish position looks ok

  • try to sit on the front, not the back of ur ass.

  • By sub 11 sprinter I assume you mean in the 100 meter dash. Very good endurance for a sprint type, though I bet you have far more impressive 500s.

  • Actually, it's sub 11s in the 200m time trial cycling. I have no idea how I would do as a runner. I did a 25.5 in the 500 this year, which probably isn't too bad for a 40 year old non-rower. Thanks

  • i dont think anyone else has said this...but does your neck get stiff after erging for a while like that? it is so stiff...

  • Ok bud...your time is not bad at all, but there are a few things in your form that should be improved. I noticed that when you are starting the recovery portion of your stroke, you seem to break your knees before the "handle" is past your knees. Push the the handle away quickly until it is just past your knees at which point you should then start to bend your knees

  • im a junior rower with a pulled back and i get a 1:51 split or around a 7:20 something, but the seniors in highschool on my team get times well below 1:40 split..

    CJRC nationals 08

  • CJRC is a bunch of preppy little bitches....

  • ranked 8th in the nation last year and probably gonna do better this year. Jeff Gibbs has the single best erg time for someone 18 years old and the 2nd best just happens to be a person that is ALSO ON CJRC. Dominate ergs, dominate nationals for varsity. Oh and i'm a novice, no other team has been within 20 seconds of my first 4 or 8. perfect season guaranteed

  • Your time is good. Yet, from a water-oarsman's viewpoint, I wouldn't really say your posture is OK... Just look at the guy next to you in the video, IMHO he is rowing correctly.

Disclaimer: this is if you look at the erg as a means, not an end, as we do; but maybe you can overlook the standards of rowing technique and still do well on the erg, which doesn't float, run, shake etc. like a boat does.

Wish you a good training, and if you happen to, try a single: it's wonderful! :^)

  • allow your elbows to pass ur knees a bit more then on the catch put your legs into overdrive to get the best drive

  • on your recovery you've got to let your hands come over your knees before before you break your legs, and also compress your torso a little closer to your thighs at the catch

  • It's OK. but you need more training if you want to be the best. in my row club boys of 15yrs do 2000 m in 7:00 or 6:58-59 so you can do it better, but very good! ;-) continue working

  • Your power is good and your posture is ok, but you'd be able to shave 10-12 seconds off your time if you emphasized your legs more. You need to work on your hamstring flexibility and lean forward through the drive so that you can move the handle with your leg muscles and give your back and arms a break.

  • Thanks for your comment. That pretty much summarizes the feedback I've received from my rowing friends. My background is in cycling, and my rowing experience is minimal, but I'll work with a coach next winter and see whether I can bring the times down a bit. I do particularly well in the 500 (which mirrors the intensity and time of the events in which I specialized in bike racing).
