Problem with Astra is it's limited Northern Western and Central European footprint;I would have started off with a massive pan-european footprint from the Canaries to the Middle East coast stretching northwards to Russia and baltic states across westwards through Scandinavia to the UK down through spain and back along the north of the med to the middle east coast. With that massive coverage viewers in over 40 countries can tune in and view.
i dont understand why sky in england removed all the other countrys channels since sky digital came a long it was good days because u got 2 watch channels from a round the world now its just english and asia channels that are broardcast now at least they should have some channels from around the world like they use 2
@shackles1000 Since the english language channels migrated to astra2 at 28.2degE you don't get european channels anymore and that's what made Astra interesting viewing.
these retro satellite ads bring back memories, totaly strange when you look back to it as sky has changed a lot since sky launched in 1989 especialy the sky logo, that's changed.
i love retro satellite adverts and footage, makes one realise how far we have come , or even how much we have lost, in comparison with recent satellite tv.
I was just killed by nostalgia.

The First Transpnder on Astra 1A (1989): tr.4 is Eurosport, tr.8 is Sky One, tr. 12 is Sky News, tr. 16 is Sky Movies. It´s True?
