Although not one of the greatest films, I loved it! My brother and I had the dialogue memorized as kids. We had seen it SO many times! Great to Geoffrey on The Celebrity Apprentice last season also. RS's early death was a huge loss to film history.
This was a great little movie. I especially liked the clear vocalization of the crowds in the movie. You could pick up all sorts of pertinent snippet of information from the background talk. Peter Boyle was miscast, though. I just keep seeing him as the purposely aloof comedian and not the sadistic heavy he was in this movie.
The reason he goes to a music store is because he buys piano wire for his fishing pole, that's what you bring up fish and sharks with when they weigh more then a ton. This was an important detale to his knolage as a shark fisherman, and it proves he is a big music buff as where most seamen.
His Heavy Drinking contributed to his death from Heart failure at age 51. Still terribly sad after all those years. A marvellous actor and also a talented writer. He is one of those talents who was taken far too early and he is remembered forever.
