So cool that there are other TCS fans out there! I first heard this in my final year at school in '93 (another 30-something!) and I rushed out to buy the album on cassette! Hearing it now still takes me back to that summer/autumn of '93 :) It's such a shame they never got more recognition. I absolutely adore their version of Tonight You Belong to Me - I wish I could get a copy of it somehow! I only ever had a poor-quality version on tape, filched from my then-boyfriend's vinyl!
the eternally unlucky band....some of the best music of the early 90's, if they'd broke just a few years later when britpop was sweaping the nation it may well have been a very different story....still one of my all time fav scottish bands...playing one of my all time fav songs.
Right there at 2:10 to the end, that's the part that made me fall in love with this song. My bud had in on in the car (we've always been into obscure U.K. bands from the '90s) and that was all she wrote when I heard that part!
@nymetsrock Check out Andy Latimer's guitar playing with Camel. Try their song " Snow Goose Excerpts" or " Hymn to Her ". Camel and Andy were fantastic and underrated. They're an amazing surprise. Louise
@Recycleplease27 : uh, that would be impossible that they could've stole a riff from bareille's song considering she came out with her hit track 'lovesong' more than 15 years after the sinatras came out with this song 'hayfever'...raises eyebrow
Hey this video is good too - the head shaking thing was pretty inventive. Yeah I agree this song is one of the best (or at least one of my all time favorites) and one of the most underrated. When Only Tongue Will Tell came out I thought they were going to be the next big thing. Oh Well. And don't forget to mention that Trashcan Sinatras is one of the greatest band names ever.
This is one of the greatest pop songs ever written....deserves a better video. Even so, TCS are my favorite band and I'm opening for them in a few weeks in DC. Highlight of my career?....pretty damn close if it isn't!
I love this band. They didn't write a duff tune. Proper drunk sing at the top of your voice tunes. God bless you all boys. Maybe you are obscure, but I love you all to bits
Perhaps being obscure helps make them what they are - a brilliant band. look at other bands who were great, got famous then turned shit... I'm a little selfish and like to think only true connoisseurs of great music listen to bands like this.
DON'T READ THIS--some random idiot posted it on my video and I dunno...hafta do it. Just don't get yourself in the same boat.
love my mom and i really dont wanna do this but i dont take chances, Sorry...I LOVE YOU MOM If you do not copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours
This is one of my favorite songs of the 90's, they're putting out an album sometime early in '09...they released a single from that album last month on Napster called 'Oranges and Apples', sounds great!
Still a favorite group of mine, in heavy rotation on my iPod. (I am 47, and bought their CD's during the 90's) Great audio on this version - cheers to jdimaria for the upload. Wish they'd tour California with Belle and Sebastian, or, even better, Cocteau Twins.
@Push1atency I agree! The trash cans are the most under rated band ever! I still don't know ho wthey continue to get overlooked. I've even told Daniel Lanois about them and he agrees that they are something special. What a treasure!
I remember this song in the background during my high school years. Never paid much attention to who it was as Nirvana ruled the airwaves back then...but like I said, I'm glad I stumbled across it...now in my thirties.
Ah yeah this song. First saw this on Beavis & Butthead, believe it or not, and I thought "wow", then bought a copy of the 12" and was blown away. Such an understated Scottish band.
I loved this song and the video. I vaguely remember Beavis and Butthead ridiculing the video because of the rapidly moving heads. Hilarious that you got into the song because of B&B. B&B usually only ridiculed lame songs so, this not being a lame song, the creators must have wanted to promote the song in their own odd way.
I remember it, too. One of them (Butthead I think) vibrated his head like in the video. They said something like, "This must be that college music" and changed the channel.
Damn, this tune is the M.F. BOMB! Reminds me of my youth, balloons and unicorns! Why does music after the mid 90's suck so much? I guess I am just turning into an old fogie.
If you're an old fogie, so am I, and I'm only 30, so I refuse to classify myself as such. But I will agree, this was a damn great era for music. At least, imported music. Non-American music.

if the lead singer wore skinny jeans and or talked about bitches and money
then this band would of been more famous good thing they didn't their obscurity
makes them all the better TCS so sweet sounding

This is a superb song. The only thing better was when Beavis and Butthead were watching this video and doing the "blurry head" thing.

Brilliant, timeless pop. Why weren't these guys megastars. Because the lead singer doesn't look like Brad Pitt?
MrSlimjimk 9 months ago
@MrSlimjimk Nah, it's because grunge reared up and stomped singer/songwriters like TCS and the Judybats like they were distortion pedals.

Only one comment on the video: heroin withdrawl.
The song is awesome though!

First heard of this band on Beavis and Butthead. I miss the 90's.
Love the harmony in this song - seems to have a sad theme.
When he says "I'm happy alone", he's shaking his head side to side as if to say "No I'm not".
Very underground band and very underground video.
Under-rated - yes.

First saw this video on Beavis and Butthead. How 90's is that.
Loved it from the beginning and still love it.
A work of art.
The song has a sad lonely overtone to it. A sign of depth in a group.
Has that British sound - Scottish band.
