Work on your vibrato, make it ring out. Let it tell the story you're trying to tell on your guitar, it should encompass all of the emotions of the piece. This will of course come with time, but just pay attention to it and treat it like your baby. Trust me, it'll pay off.
I'm 15 and all I can say is kudos. I'll learn it eventually, but for your age, that's just awesome. (nice guitar btw) The only advice I can give you, get into it moar. Feel it!

Very good. I didn't expect a 13 year old to be able to play that well. My friend ErikEspangberg here on YouTube plays the guitar and he's also quite good. But I think that even him could learn a thing or two from your young student.
I has the same impression when watching the video I had a 2d listening and... the music doesnt 'flow' from the guitar same way when Satriani plays it so yes, lack of emotion, sorry ;-(

Ok guys. Thanks for all your comments. I think this issue of Kyle playing without emotion is getting a bit old. He is concentrating on his playing and you have to appreciate that if he did start moving his face he would be torn apart because of it.

@Coppulor Yeah if you use Mainstage on a mac you can pull guitar rig through it and then out to your PA or just use Guitar Rig on its own. We've never done it but I know it can be done.

Dude, really great. You've got talent! But I have to admit, a little bit emotions will do the extra. Everybody have the chance to learn how to play guitar good, but not all got the "devotion". I just know that when I play, I love to jump around and stuff. Keep up the good work!
Well done buddy, I just wish you looked a little more interested! You're missing the emotion that goes with ANY good performance, but I'm sure you'll display more of it as you get older. Keep at it mate. When I was 16, I had to learn this with nothing but a cassette tape (check wiki for that one!) and the Play-It-Like-It-Is tab book :)
Sounds great, but I just miss the emotions beyond it, if I see artists playing songs live I see them enjoy, when I see covers on Youtube tey look like they were forced to do it. Makes it fun to listen but the fun to watch is gone...
this is near perfect perfect would be if he could do it without looking but i mean really who can do that and what are you gonna do stair at the camera the whole time that would be freaky and i like how he found time to scratch his nose in the middle of the song i also noticed he used up down picking which is great because if you get used to doing that it is a very hard habit to break all around amazing.

Dude, really great. You've got talent! But I have to admit, a little bit emotions will do the extra. Everybody have the chance to learn how to play guitar good, but not all got the "devotion". I just know that when I play, I love to jump around and stuff. Keep up the good work!

Well done buddy, I just wish you looked a little more interested! You're missing the emotion that goes with ANY good performance, but I'm sure you'll display more of it as you get older. Keep at it mate. When I was 16, I had to learn this with nothing but a cassette tape (check wiki for that one!) and the Play-It-Like-It-Is tab book :)

Sounds great, but I just miss the emotions beyond it, if I see artists playing songs live I see them enjoy, when I see covers on Youtube tey look like they were forced to do it. Makes it fun to listen but the fun to watch is gone...

this is near perfect perfect would be if he could do it without looking but i mean really who can do that and what are you gonna do stair at the camera the whole time that would be freaky and i like how he found time to scratch his nose in the middle of the song i also noticed he used up down picking which is great because if you get used to doing that it is a very hard habit to break all around amazing.
