  • Well i like the texture of the frosting just I think her tools she is using for the outcome she is wanting are not helping her she needs beeter tools and we should always do the best even if the cake is going to be covered with fontant thank you

  • how do you make the icing?

  • Its better to put little pieces of wax paper/parchment paper underneath the edges of the cake. That prevents the serving platter from getting dirty. And once you've finished frosting, you can slide the wax/parchment paper right out, leaving you with a clean edge. :)

  • expertville? more like idiots who think there pro but cant do fuck all-ville. this is worse than the ''how to - acrylic nails'' video series that they did.

  • haha i find it funny how jus a simple cake frosting video like this starts off a world war between two three viewers about bigger issues LOL

  • EXPERT?!

  • 2:57 she licked that finger.

  • That cake is a lie.

  • love it:) am cinda new to bake cakes but a like it and it dont need to bee perfect the first time or the 2-3-4-5 :D soo cool that u show people how to do it :)

  • @LiquidLover13 Yeah, maybe you should check her later videos then, where you can clearly see that the cake looks damn good and not lumpy. Why? Because she knew she had a tool that could help her at the fondant stage. She didn't NEED to fuss over every little tiny bump in the frosting because she was PREPARED.

  • its good

  • or instead of ALL that work with the sweeping inward and whatnot, you could let the frosting dry then use a viva paper towl to spooth out the rough parts. :D DUH

  • you freaken suckkk,

  • Thanks for uploading this.. this is amazing so much help :)

  • Not very impressed! Thought this was "expert" village?

  • @michelle13579123 dropping an f-bomb over cake icing? i hope your not a parent, goodness gracious if you are i feel for your children. you need help!

  • @indibabs12227 a litle heads up! this is a cake, and that is how CAKES are suposed to be made with a lot of icing if you want a diet cake make it yourself because you are not going to get it anywhere!!

  • @2010fatimae I am the one who got mad at the person who did cuss stupid. so you replied to me and i was telling them to not talk like that about a cake. you need to talk to that person. my reply was how stupid she was and that i hope she was not a parent. i never said anything about icing, or negative about the cake. do your research and stop starting trouble with me when i didn't even do shit. are you that stupid you cant see who wrote what? maybe you shouldn't be on youtube. get an education.

  • @2010fatimae you are the one insulting me and cursing at me, but acording to YOU I'm the one who needs an education!!!! RIGHT!!! lol YOU ARE REALLY FUNNY AND DUMB!!!!!!

  • when it isn't dirty iced, it's a bloody nightmare.

  • even other commented negative on this video, i am very much thankful, this is a big help for me... thanks very much for uploading this video.

  • People always put such negative comments but you know what its good for me. I'm 13 and going to bake my first cake. For me this is very good beginner lessons and Ive seen others and there always so expert and i know the cake wont come out that way. this is a rather good and simple video. Sure this lady is not the best but she's trying and i know she might be doing better than me.

  • You know some one is always a critic, I'd like to see how "perfect" they would make a cake, or if they could do any better than she. I love to bake and decorate cakes, I have sooooo much fun at it, and people who post videos, on "how to" I love to see them. Good or not, what you may deem "imperfection" I deem as a learning tool. Besides there's no law saying you have to watch and even make a comment, just simply move on.

  • how annoying

  • So that's the way it works! Can you tell me how to make that frosting? Or where to buy?

  • It looks like a Greek house

  • being interesting to watch: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!!

  • buuuu!!!

  • Better watch Howidini.com

  • can you tell us you recept from this white thing :)

    is it buttercream ?

  • Hey Karen, Im 4 yrs new to this cake business and you're noooo expert! Why is it called Expert Village????? Your fondant job is ridiculous! Not to be rude, who taught you these methods??? They should get their asses kicked for letting you embarass yourself.. Hey artpro6666, sometimes people need to be told not to be sugarcoated with b^&*(^%it!

  • @sweetsbymrswang Why so negative? Sheesh.. Have some respect for the people who post things like this up.. ALSO... IF YOU PAID ATTENTION.. she stated in the video before this and the beginning that the icing would not need to be perfect since there's gonna be fondant to cover it! And just because her method is not like yours does not mean she's doing it wrong..

  • 1:23 i laughed my ass off

  • disaster

  • i agree with artpro6666.

  • I WANT CAKE o.O THE CAKE IS A LIE NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • 1:27 Shit Happens

BTW: I've seen a 10-year-old do it better.

Take some practice before going on youtube.

  • @NootjeC

Uhm.. Have you taken a look at your videos? The TWO that you have.. Plus take a look at how many views this video has. You shouldn't criticize one video that has over 75,000 more views than all your videos combined. So obviously people must be getting something out of it.. I'm thinking you should re-check your talents and come back to YouTube when you learn to not be so hypocritical. -Or bitchy?

  • @Chelsea32294 She is supposed to be an expert and teaching people things, but she´s nothing better than the newbies themselves.

  • @NootjeC Plus she is just showing what you generally do, and you aren't just born frosting cakes perfectly. When you try to do this yourself, you learn to have a greater respect for anyone who at least attempts to do this because it isn't as easy as it looks for most people. A lot of people -if not, most- learn that everyone has there own way or style of frosting. If this is how she wants to do it, that's her choice. She also has the right to put a video on YouTube about frosting a cake..

  • i want to see buddy valastro doing some cake videos! hes the bestt! if u guys wana see him he works(owns) carlos bakery in hoboken new jersey or watch cake boss mondays at 9:00 on tlc!

  • @starrking961 he's a moron. watch ace of cakes on food network. they're waaaaaaaay better.

  • why didnt you crumbcat first, though? even though it looks nice

  • @flwer34 Not everyone puts a crumb coat onto their cakes. That's why she kept mentioning to 'dallop' or 'glob' the frosting on, and to always lay frosting on over where you left off. If you do apply a crumb coat, I recommend cooling your cakes overnight after coating those crumbs ; ) It will help the butter cream set so it would be more difficult to mess up. -As long as you apply slight pressure when you apply the frosting.

  • ey muy bueno, gracias por tu tutorial...great.

  • SHE SUCKS SOOOOOOO BAD

  • Im waiting for someone to decorate it like the Companion cube LOL

  • The Cake is a Lie!

  • Comment removed

  • damm sad..bit of practice would go a stray before filming?

  • HUMMM?????

  • Wow! That WAS bad. She definitely made a lot of amateur mistakes. :(

  • yes!! but that icing looks delicous

  • im searching how to do the perfect frosting

  • Specially in the episode when they did the world's biggest cupcake. The work in progress was completely horrible, but the final product was absolutely beautiful.

  • People!!! You guys always have negative stuff to say!!! She CLEARLY said in one of the videos that came before this one that the frosting didn't have to be perfect because it would be covered with fondant anyway, so you'd better check all the info first before posting such comments here. A work in progress NEVER looks pretty, that's why it's called "in progress"!!!! Or you have forgotten how the cakes that are in progress look in the TV Show "Ace of Cakes"? AH? HORRIBLE!!!

  • @artpro6666 i agree with you

there are many stupid people commenting nonsense they should be grateful that people take their time off to teach his techniques for free if they do not like just do not see it

  • @artpro6666 well for one thing you shouldnt put a layer of sugarpaste onto the cake and THEN cover it in fondant, sugarpaste is ment to be for decorations, she might as mell covered it in royal icing and THEN covered it in fondant! wtf didnt she use buttercream like any other person who has the SMALLEST amout of knowledge of cake making? and secondly, thta is suck a rediculuos amound of what SHOULD be buttercream to use before adding fondant! that is tooth ache and 1 stone in a slice!

  • Omg she fucking sucks.I would still eat the cake, but she still succkkkksss...

  • god she sucks...no offense.

  • lol, it looks like i made it!

  • She's defeating the purpose. If she would wet her spatula with warm water she wouldn't have to worry about removing icing with every sweep.

  • I dont like how these videos are all over the place.

  • Every time this lady smoothes over the cake she removes the icing and creates crumbs....betty crocker is a little better.

  • lol.. i noticed that to..

    not very expert like

and i want a round cake not a square one damnit!!!!

  • wow! She's AMAZING!........................i love the crater you created on the corner of the cake.. and how you didn't cover the cake completely with frosting... oh and the crumbs all over the frosting effect is a great way to go!

you are an expert... i can tell!

  • i like ur sarcasm - i just ant a recipe that i can use for icing a red velvet cake without cream cheese in it i

  • i mean the recipe in german^^

  • where can i get the recipe`?

  • on dirai du fromage lol

  • Ok *Sigh* cake making 101:

    1. Place some wax paper under the cake to keep the platter clean, when done, pull it out! Minimal fixing required & it looks cleaner

    2. Do a crumb coat! I.E a VERY thin coat of frosting then place in the frige minutes so it can "harden" THEN frost! Duh..

    3. When done take a Viva paper towel and *LIGHTLY* place the towel over the frosting and using a gentle hand smooth over the towel. PERFECTLY smooth cake. (Must use a butter cream frosting)

    VOILA! Easy cake!

  • dont sound so pompous

  • Thanks, that DID help :)

Just have to admit that Karen here is doing a great job anyway.

  • ya know, not every where in the world sells viva paper toweling. Other than that after your butter cream has crusted you can do the same thing with parchment paper and a fondant smoother (taught by pastrie schools world wide)

  • cooooool

  • how do you mak the frosting ... i want to know how ...

  • its better if you put strips of wax paper under the sides of the cake so that when your done icing it you just pull it off and there's no icing on the platter

  • yes, but the trouble w/ pulling the wax paper is that when you pull it, it can pull at the frosting and expose some cake too. either way has its ups and downs i guess

  • the cake looks so perfect

  • do we need to put the cake into the refrigerator before adding sugarpaste?
