Kostner station closed on September 2, 1973 along with California and Central also on the congress line due to cta budget cuts. Kostner was one of the shortest-lived cta stations.
This line opened in 1958, but this station in particular never opened even then. Local politicians wanted this built to satisfy their riders, but I think there was a power change, and so it never opened. Whether this station opens now depends on if the Chicago CTA wants spend money to fix it or demolish it.
