  • too much delay

  • Bootsy funkin it up

  • 0:05

...... Nothing to see here, just a man in a diaper, no enjoy the music people.

  • Anybody know what uh... song this is?

  • I was I was alive when they were in their prime (not that they are any worse), so I could see them LIVE! I bought a "best of" Funkadelic and thought it was okay back in 1990, but LIVE , man, these guys sound far better live than their albums which seems pretty rare. Anyone know of any good live albums from Funkadelic / Parliament, Funkadelic Parliament, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton, Eddie Hazel or any of the members (solo)?

  • If I only could just wear one outift out of his wardrobe....

  • cosmic orgasmic funk right there daddy Bootsy!

  • gangstah

  • OMG Bootsie, this is just club a bitch and have your way with her back in the cave type funk...LOL

  • @Shammehard lmao hell yea

  • So, he tried out his new effect-box, but as a solo it really, I mean REALLY sucks. Perhaps it sounds great when you are stoned, but today I am not and this sucks!!

  • Dude in the diaper is Gary Shider, been with P-funk from the very beginning.

  • Amazing......

  • the guitars took away from the bass.. and the funk.. in this one...

  • dude wearing the diaper in the back at the beginning?

  • @lordcorn10 That's Gary "Starchild" Shider. Long time P-Funk guitarist.

  • pretty disgusting that pinstripe's comment is one of the higher rated ones lmao

  • @gf3tw I agree with you there...I have a feeling he just up-voted his own comment, like, 7 times...He's just a bigot with nothing better to do with his sad little life than make others hate theirs as much as he hates his own...

  • Truly, thanks for the post!!!!!

  • Bootsy Collins is the voice of Jimi Hendrix on the new Hendrix anthology DVD/CD. That's pretty cool.

  • OHHHHHHHHHHHH GODDDDDDDDDD ..................LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS... ICANT HARDLY STAND IT.. IT VIBBRATES THRO MY EVERY CELLOF MY BODY. OH

  • Yea, that's starchild, doing it to you in your earhole. I agree with afro sensuous, I'm a funkateer from the 70's.

  • I was just playing this really loud in my car ... i mean loud .... and now ... I am being sued for child support by the whole city of Atlanta cause I spewed all over the place!

  • Okay folks, I couldn't take it any longer and had to comment. This is Boosty. He played with James Brown and all the groups George Clinton created (Parliment/Funkadelic/P-Funk All Stars/Parlet). His hey-day was during the heat of the funk era. No, he's not Wooten, Clarke or Johnson or Graham, but he was known for being a pocket bassist and using effects. Please educate yourself on FUNK. There are millions from the 70's. Get your Google on folks.

  • @afrosensuous DONT FORGET JIMMY HENDRIX LOOK UP TO HIM..

  • another gasm

  • Im gunna find the Funk one day and become Bootsy Collins 9000!!!!!!!

  • I wonder if that dude could get a diaper rash....?

  • Hát ez igen karaj, valami hihetetlen, basszussal szólózni:)

a megjelenés az meg csúcs, meg az effektek:)

    hibátlan!

  • I agree with Pin... this guy is a complete JOKE!

  • Does it really confuse anybody ELSE how such awesome playing can then be twisted until its a discussion about how sick somebody else partner is? Like I mean, I'm a bassist, and while this isn't necessarily my style (and if it was, I DEFINITELY couldn't be this good) Bootsy is much better in my opinion than any bassists that are mainstream now... Oh wait... music now is made on a computer... with synths... Oh where oh where did musicianship go?

  • Cold blooded solo!

  • Gave me goosebumps starting at :49 going all up and down my arms and legs.

    YOWZA!!!!!

  • WANNA-BE GUITAR PLAYER PLAYING BASS!! SO TYPICAL. He can't really play... just a bunch of freaks getting attention BECAUSE they're a bunch of FREAKS!!!

  • @Pinstripedtie They did much more work and progress in music than you ever will. And prove me wrong.

  • @Harbec Go screw yourself QUEER!!!

  • @Pinstripedtie your weak. You can't play in a man's game. Go home and tell your girl your trouble. You see his bass? That bass cost more

than your car. You know what it takes to be like Bootsy? It takes brass balls. Go and do likewise, the opportunity is out there pick it up and if you don't I got no sympathy for you. I wish you good luck but you wouldn't know what to do with it if you got it.

  • Respond to this video... Oh go fuck your same sex partner you SICKO!!! I will not comment on your mentally insane comments any further... so think you have won, cause you are sick anyway!!

  • @SarahRachel59 You're not a sicko?? Hmmm... could have fooled ME!!!

and where did I say the word, HATE??? Huh??? Please show me!! I think SICKO'S such as yourself are putting words into my mouth like all sicko's do!! I don't hate... I feel sorry for all the BRAIN-FRIED sicko's and fagots disrupting our well being!! Now go take your vibrator and make the sun shine for yourself... because you apparently aren't getting any!! You da' MORON!!

  • @Pinstripedtie It's good to know this jackass closed his account...

  • @Pinstripedtie-Can you be more misinformed? Bootsy Collins is responsible for some of the greatest bass lines that have ever been created. You couldn't clean the crust out of this man's fingernails.

  • This is Rather be with you

  • What the hell is the name of this ......heavenly funk tune

    Who the fuck disliked this?

  • Raises the hairs on your back, top three in the best bass solos ive ever seen

aint no party like a p funk partay

  • Sounds like the sound of the Planet Saturn...go head bootsy.

  • Nice diaper……

  • Damn this is good !!!

  • @theManTCBflash,evidentally you know nothing about Parliament/Funkadelic/Bootsy's Rubber Band.Gary Shider is one of the original members of Funkadelic, and has always worn that diaper.RIP Gary, long live the Funk

  • This a red hot tube and registration -ben a fav of mine for a long time -still is -thank you for posting ! have a great day ! gus

  • Bootsy looks like a pimp lol

  • After watching a few funk videos… I've learned the peculiar fact that diapers and funk go together like fish and chips

  • bootsy is tha best hands dwn

  • Bootsy make it look easy, but it's not. What a funkateer!!!!!!

  • the dude behind bootsy has a shit load of funk down his diapers!!!!

  • 2:24 onwards i had to pause the video & change my trousers

i don't think words describe how funky this motherfucker is.

Ha i love the nappy wearing guy :P think he played with RHCP & Clinton at the oscars (some guy was wearing a nappy with helium filled balloons attached to them)

  • He was doing this forever, This isn't new.

  • Comment removed

  • really high sounds on 3:04. is that a whammy pedal?

  • @loreownaa hes using a Jet Phaser pedal (:

  • Just saw this solo for the first time a few days ago, I downloaded it & I listen to it at least six times day. He is so intense!!

  • how man

  • There is a grown man in diapers in the background

  • OMG i can get high off this sound. Its hypnotic....

  • he looks like rick james

  • Bootsy must have come in straight from the football field--I still see grass stains on those shoulder pads.

  • this is awsome : )

  • My vision of the bass has changed totally with this video. And I actually am a bass player.

  • love the guitarist in the background :L

  • Meh...

  • Really?!

  • ... and everyone thought that the universe was silent. It just spoke.

  • Woah awsome! Never seen playing bass like this! The guitar and the bass, together with one... Just overpowered

  • There will never be a day in which I listen to this and think to myself, "I've heard this too many times."

  • whoa...stoned groove!!

  • someone said he lost a bet...an had to perform lol

  • DIAPER DUDE! XD

  • I just don't feel like Bootsy's bass would be nice to play..Something's so stiff about it. Larry's bass? Great. Doug's bass? Great. Victor, Stanley, Marcus, Jaco's bass? Great. Bootsy's...eh...I could do without it.

  • no but hte neck is so solid (looks) and chunky and funky

  • Comment removed

  • and the most insane :D

  • That is the most intense playing of electric bass I have ever seen.

  • aftereight01if you think this is intense you really need to look into people like les claypool, victor wooden & allen woody.

  • There's a funky element you might not have considered...

When Victor Wooten and Les Claypool play their basses, the girls don't get wet...

Les takes you where frogs croak & pigs fly, but Bootsy takes you to the back of his Chevy (where the vibes R gettin' heavy).

So, it's a different thing. Don't dis' the Boots.

  • i'm new skool, not old skool, and i grew up on Victor wooten and Les claypool but i TOTALLY agree with you. in my opinion, les claypool is too into frogs and stuff and doesn't write or sing about anything i care about (and it aint sexy) and wooten, well, wooten is intellectually stimulating but otherwise sort of emotionless and boring.

  • I laughed my ass off when i read what you said!

  • @sex6cult9revolution

I wasn't dis'in' Boots at all, i think he's a phenom on bass. i'm just saying he's not the most intense bassist out there.

  • @sex6cult9revolution probably cause theyre both married?

  • sooooooo rad

  • Diaper Man lol.

  • dude in the diaper! lmao!!

  • i think i just had a funkgasm.....

  • Eargasam man Eargasam!

  • 2:25 now thats slapping xD

  • :0 i dont have words for describe it. He's the man

  • What would have been (WWB)- Bootsy, Hendrix and Future Man

  • This is a classic Bootsy solo. Gotay, where did you get this? I'd love to add this one to my collection, I have the others on DVD.

For the neophyte's the guy in the diaper is Garry "Starchild" Shider from Parliament-Funkadelic. That has been his "costume" since the 70's.

  • What the fuck is the guy behind him wearing? hahahahaahahahahahahahahah

  • HEs the BAby Man...hahaha

  • @theManTCBflash The guy is the background is Gary Shider, who has been an important member (vocals/guitar/writer) of Parliament-Funkadelic and many of the off shoot groups since the early 1970s. He, uh, often wears a diaper on stage.

  • @yourjesus They are too big to be diapers. Must be depends

  • @theManTCBflash

    That's Big Baby from Parliament

  • @theManTCBflash The guy is P-Funk musician/vocalist Garry Shider who recently passed away from cancer. R.I.P. He really was a really nice guy if you met him. The diaper was an old stage get-up.

  • @theManTCBflash i THINK pampers :D

  • @theManTCBflash

    lol a diaper?

  • @1337Sacranity That's Gary Shider aka Starchild from Parliament-Funkadelic. RIP Gary.

  • @theManTCBflash i believe he is one of the funkadelic guitarists (not eddy hazel)

  • @theManTCBflash awww look errybody Bootsy's baby sitting I wonder if bootsy has to change him after the gig?............that babys gonna have him some stories to tell when he grows up. Like the time Bootsy was so high all he could do was just (smile into the mic) yep I wished I had Bootsy for a baby sitter when I was a little baby...

  • @theManTCBflash not a whole lot hahaha

  • @theManTCBflash...You need to get alittle historyon funk, especially the Parliment/Funkadelic era. Ask some older folks about "The Mothership".

  • @theManTCBflash i think thats the famous starchild....

  • @theManTCBflash

When the camera panned onto him I started rolling on the ground LMAO!!

  • that delay is WAYY out... not really well synched to the tempo

  • Bootsy plays behind the beat, but always on the one.

  • anybody got a light? lmao

  • Anyone know if this is on DVD?

  • 2:22 Instant magic

  • ahhh, the envelop filter. Must love it.

  • this is proof that Collins is the greatest basist of all time.

  • I don't agree, he'd be lucky to make the top five but we should be grateful for the vibrancy he brought to the JB's sound and beyond. Thanks for the good times, BC!

  • I'd put Bootsy in the top five. He isn't the best on technique, but is definitely the funkiest. No less than Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten acknowledge Bootsy as the funkiest bass player of them all!

  • what about larry graham?

  • james jamerson was great too

  • flea it's pretty much influenced by bootsie

(no wonder he wore diapers in several performances; pure attitude!)

  • This solo is the highlight of every Bootsy show. He's been doing it for years and it never grows old - it just changes a little bit here and there.

Actually, I haven't seen him since 1995, but he was doing it still then and this looks more recent.

  • Well THAT'S pretty weird.

  • he has been playing in diapers for years

  • Is that a diaper 0___________O

  • Ahh yeah...

  • as soon as i saw the diaper i went straight to the comments hahah

  • Soothing and epic at the same time... I didn't even know that was possible, but with bootsy, anything is possible...

  • that diaper is funk.........lol, but nah, bootsy is a damn funk legend

  • how can i get this sound? q tron? bif muff? what else?

  • ionno what brand of sound equipment he uses, but you probably want to be looking at some envelope filters and some fuzz distortion

  • u could probably get the bootsy collins fuzz wah

  • what's a bif muff?

  • You're right. That would've been something to see.

  • Bootsy = Hendrixs. No doubt about it.

  • @gaddyify you can tell..Hendix =Prince,Bootsy..Imagine Jimmy palying ,with bootsy on the Space Bass..The two greatest!

  • i can never get enough of that epic riff on 2:52

  • Bootsy's the man!

  • DEEP FUNK!!!

  • Seriously, what's up with that dude in diapers?

  • lol guitar guy

  • wtf is the guitarman wearing?

  • That's either Glen Goins (R.I.P.) or Gary Shider and he's wearing a diaper. That was his thing on stage for years.

  • it's Gary Shider, of parliament-funkadelic

  • Thanks. I didn't check for a date on this vid and didn't know if it's before or after Glen Goins passing. Just a little aside note: I played in a funk band during the 80's called The Funktion Freeks and we were in the Parliament/Gap Band/Rick James mode. Our guitar player would sometimes come onstage in a clear plastic suit (yes, you read that right!) with nothing underneath but a pair of tighty whiteys. Wish I could find some pictures of that.

  • Glenn Goins passed in 1978 at the age of 24

  • RZA!

  • that bass crazy!!! if u like these guys check out ICEMOSIS too

  • how do I smoke this?

  • Is dude praying in front of the keyboards?

  • He's praying the god of flashy rock aka Bootzilla :D

  • Somebody please give me some settings to get these sounds.

    So epic.

  • You're not going to get these sounds with today's tech. It will be too flat and robotic. Invest in some old school effects like a Mutron and some Electro Harmonix gear: I recommend the Small Stone phase shifter, Bass Balls compressor; I forgot what they called their flanger and to throw a curve in the mix, a Cry Baby wah wah. I used a Small Stone and Cry Baby on my bass back in the 80's. Guys would see the setup and think, what the hell, you're not a guitar player. Then they heard it.....!

  • Flanger was "Electric Mistress" and a Dr.Q.

  • Thanks, I really couldn't remember those. The Dr. Q was the Mutron effect. Afterthefox7, was that comment meant for me, about what one's name partly implies? I'm not offended, just trying to understand what you mean. Wmdbassplayer is an inside joke reffering to a cop that said to me he has to keep the streets safe from us dangerous musicians. I make a living as a busker and am supposed to have a sound permit for my amp in NYC.

  • there's a delay in the mix

  • so u know how 2 create these sounds similiar 2 bootsy like a bass soundin like a lead

  • Back in the days the main effects to get these sounds were the Mutron pedals. The closest thing I can think of from todays tech to get the best sounds would be the Roland Multieffects Bass pedal. I don't know the exact model number right off hand, but in my opinion that's the best you're going to get unless you invest in all the original old school gear, which is gonna cost you a lot.

  • Sorry the settings are from the soul and not online or robotic as your name partly implies

  • EARGASM

  • dang that sounds down right beautiful!

  • wicked rude funk attitude

  • Bootsy has got it figured out

  • Lary Graham is the Hendrix of bass...but i don't like those comparisons....let's say hendrix is hendrix of guitar and Bootsy is Bootsy of bass :)

  • this dude is the hendrix of bass

  • Can someone tell me if this is from a song, or if it's just a jam?

  • its I'd Rather Be With You, the solo from it.. not sure what year.
