Been there just before the BBC made there documentairy, we were the last to go in with Den Haag and Swansea's finest. Old man was crying on the pitch...Cheers, George, Holland Den Haag....Vetch Field in remebrance.....cheers.
Millwall fan here. Always sad to see the loss of your stadium. I hate modern stadia I prefer grounds like our old one and the Vetch which had character.
Thank you. That was, I am sure, a painful experience to catalogue all that. A superb compilation adding to the pathos shared by tens of thousands of Swansea supporters over the years at the demise of a location embedded in the hearts and minds of supporters from 15 to 99, young and old. From an old Swans supporter, now living in Texas. Kudos.
Any chance of doing a final video showing the final acts of the removal of the Vetch and its subsequent reclassification as a park for the local residents. I used to live in Glamorgan Street, so the old place is close to my heart.
@627peterwilliams I go down there as often as I can to take pictures, so there's a part 4, 5 and maybe 6 on their way :) If you want the photographs/videos emailed to you I'll happily do so (send your email address in a private message).
@badboygreene007 The pitch is all dug up, the iconic North Bank has completely gone, the centre stand (with the clock) is in the process of being demolished. Work is beginning on the East Stand and the away stand has had its roof covering the upper deck removed in the last couple of days. It'll be completely gone in a few weeks though.
Any chance of doing another video showing the final death throes of the Vetch and it's new life as a park for the local residents. I used to live in Glamorgan Street too.
@swanzfan1 It was a couple of weeks ago when the contractors had literally just moved in. The gate to the centre stand (between the terraced houses) was wide open. They don't let people in now though because of health and safety, unfortunately.
The last few pictures were taken last week, they only let me onto the North Bank though.
How sad :-(
Will be there tomorrrow, after 20 years. Woud've liked to say good bye...
Oh well.
