  • It puts the lotion on the skin.....

  • Are u in guitar heaven?? GUITAR GANG-BANG there! LOL

  • what do you need to taped picks to block the bridge when you already have a tremelo stopper ?

  • What if you like to use thick picks vs small or medium? I'm so confused.

  • wonder if they make these tone boosters with ferulles or gibson string bridges

  • The best tone maker is the guitar player himself.

  • Got mine today! Gonna install it tomorrow after work, cant wait ! Thanks Adam!!!!!

  • Ref; Bass of bridge being level with body.

In this clip it was level before even staring, mine is not, is it simply a matter of adjusting the spring tension screws?

  • How many picks does it take to block the enter of a Floyd cavity?

  • How imperative is it to have your floyd level with the body? please reply.

  • @CalTamaDrummer If it isnt level with the body, the strings will either be too high or too low. Also pull ups and dives wont have the same range of motion. there are probably other reasons but these are the best that i can think of

  • ok so if i put on the trem blocker, and block it so it wont go up, i can take my strings off and change them without having to worry about the bridge moving? also will i have to adjust the intonation if i'm just changing strings but the tuning, gauge etc is still the same?

  • uhh does it matter what model floyd it is cuz mine wont let me pull back far enough to do dime squels :o

  • @shredder6078 I believe it depends on the depth of the pocket. I guess you could route it out to where you could. But first, take this into account - how much are you really gonna use them int he middle of songs or solos? Is it really worth all that?

  • for blocking to make it not able to pull up and for tuning i take the fat squar part of a chop stick and if u put it in it fits perfect

  • Hi, Im gonna buy a sustain block but i dont know what block

i have a bc rich mockingbird st

and why does the titanium block cost so much? is it much better than the brass block?

  • @LukasOddeDK Titanium is way more expensive than brass.

  • Aha..... well thanks dude. xD Wish I knew this before I made my hair look like yours trying to set up my trem xD I succeeded though xD

  • I want that shirt

  • REMEMBER AT THE BEGINING!!!

  • This guy is so badass. There's no emotion in his speech, and he doesn't even look at what he's doing.

  • where can I get a tremolo stopper, online perhaps? .. :/ I can't find somewhere to buy it

  • Why is it always so dirty inside where the springs are?

  • @Vanhalenguitars I'm struggling with the (notorious) Ibanez Edge III floating trem. After many adjustments, I've finally realised that the "locking" nut is actually the trem's main weak point. No matter how tight I screw the locks on, the high strings STILL slip a little, especially if I aggressively pull on the bar. I think the problem might be caused by the shiny finish. I've considered scoring the nut and underside of the lock-blocks with a boxcutter, or maybe adding a strip of sandpaper?

  • @SuperGuitarNerd aahhh so that's what the deal is with the thing... i've wondered about it myself and suspected it could be the locking nuts but never really cared to observe them because i really don't like the bridge anyways... bar not angled enough, it's too loose and pops out all the time.. so i'm def lookin into a dif bridge.. i'm thinkin edge pro with lo-pro locking studs mod and floyd bar mod.. good to know i'll have to do something about the locking nuts too aha

  • @m3tallih0lic Ha! Yeah... It's the WORST double locking trem system I've ever come across! Last night I finally lost patience, & "VanHalenized" it by superglueing two stacks of small washers together, placing them between the inside of the the block, & the body of the guitar (I also tightened up the claw almost as far as it can go). The trem can therefore no loger be "raised" in pitch, but can still dive-bomb. It's STILL not behaving itself 100% though! Maybe I'll mess w/the nut tomorrow!

  • @SuperGuitarNerd i actually took the bridge and it's studs out the other night.. the strings are still hangin there and i looked at the locking nuts.. i tightened the locking nuts on the loose strings and then did a little pulling test and they did seem pretty firm in there so idk what the deal is. all i know is that the edge 3 doesn't cut it.. oh and i noticed some parts of the bridge aren't really metal because if you take a magnet to it, you'll notice it wont stick to some areas..

  • @SuperGuitarNerd oh and i wouldn't use sand paper for the nut locks because it'll give room for the strings to slide thru the sand grit and probably wear the strings down... i think a thin layer of rubber would be best

  • when i block a floyd with picks, can i tune however i want and it wont come out of tune?

  • @decapitatedrathead Hey, Yeah pretty much any tuning as long as it is all down tuning. If you are tuning your strings to a higher pitch you may have to screw in the tremolo claw in the back cavity to tighten the spring tension. If you are just down tuning it will work fine..

  • @danpluso but im in drop b and wanna go to drop d, so no?

  • @decapitatedrathead Just go ahead and start tuning it up. Watch the floyd rose and as soon as you see it start to pull up tighten the claw screws in the back cavity a bit to tighten the spring tension so the floyd doesn't pull up. Only down side with this is... if you ever want to go back to drop B, the force needed to push down on the whammy bar will increase unless you decrease the tension on the springs by unscrewing the claw out a bit.

  • @danpluso well now i only feel liek going back up to drop c or drop a.... so im good now, i dotn fee like playing lamb of god right now aha

  • something i do is put a stack of coins so it wedges in between the bottom of the tremolo cavity and the block. cheap AND simple.

  • lolz blocking a floyd rose is suppose to be an upgrade!!!! hahahaha

Thats like taking the wheels of of ur car and callin it an upgrade if u dont want a floyd sistem buy a les paul

  • I have a question.. if i buy the trem stopper.. will i be able to downtune my guitar to like.. Eb, or D standard? thanks

  • Totally worth it! Definitely buy one you won't be disappointed

  • who cares if its 20 bucks, if you dont have 20 bucks to spend get a job lazy asses!!!

  • love the T-shirt

  • Hey Adam, just ordered a Trem Stopper from your site. Can't wait to see how it functions!

  • You could have just bought a 90° bracket and a bolt (for about a dollar total) from Home Depot.

  • @Hoopermazing

this is true, its fkn easy and cost like 5$

  • @CemetaryGatesML $5???? Oh, you're in Canada w/ all of those regressive taxes, GST PST etc...

  • lol taxes are that bad its only 13% on top . so i go to a hardware store, get 2 90degrees brackets and 2 hardened steel screws ( so they last forever )

  • stupid camara men, i cant see

  • I believe the mailman did steal it because the package was opened using a sharp object like a letter opener. Besides, a month earlier I had another package delivered empty. What was it the package... a guitar pickup.

Too much of a coinsidence IMO.

  • @darthinfurnus haha, seems like the mail man might just be a guitar player, but thats just my guess.

  • Adam Reiver is a man of integrity! My asshole mailman stole my big block, tremstopper and noiseless springs from my

mailbox and denied it. I emailed Adam and he replaced my order. I was blown away!

  • your mail man probobly dident steal it, it pobobly got mis placed in transet, but none the less. he is the man.

  • Man, I remember when I blocked my DKMG. I did such a shitty job. I didnt even use fuckin WOOD!!! I used cardboard my dad gave me and dude...I still play techdeath today with My dkmg lol

  • i just put a big block on mine, and.. OMFG, its insane, i can't believe the tone, its crazy!

  • how much does this big blocks cost?

  • i forget the exact price, but if I remmeber right, its a little pricey, but not bad though.

  • ahah i thought of picks too. you just don't want to but something for this, you take a look around for what you could possibly use, and of course you find picks xd

  • I have a question... the string retainer bar is attached directly to the wood?

  • where can you purchase a bigger block (knifedge) for your floyd rose?

  • What are the different arrangements of springs you can use? Does each have a different function?

  • Can a Floyd be put on any guitar?

  • NO! alot of people think they can, and that is absolutely false, because some bridges dont retrofit the guitar.

  • yes if you have a guitar that has a tremolo in it you can purchase a floyd rose and just take your old tremelo out and put the floyd in. if your guitar has a set bridge like most gibsons you can have your guitar routed and cut to fit a floyd rose by finding a luthier or guitar shop to have it done for about 200 dollars

  • iv done it my self a fiew times its not hard, just need the right tools. im doing it again on my strat project : )

  • can i do this on with my edge 3 tremolo ???

  • if i have a tremolo stopper seted up can i still dive?

  • yeah

  • yes. you can disengage it. you can dive even if it is engaged, just no pull-ups

  • wats the song?

  • can i change license to original floydrose?

  • yes. Just take out the licenced with an Original (get a pro to do it)

  • All depend of your cavity contact me i'll give you a link with some floyd compatibility upgrade

  • yes but depending on the licensed you have it might be a tad difficult, but most have the same measurements.

  • I'd like to say a huge THANKS to Adam. After viewing this video i ordered a trem blocker device and a 37mm heavy brass block and my LTD M-100 is sounding so much better. The blocker device does a perfect job off stopping the whammy pulling up(i only like diving down). The brass block really does give more grunt and tonal depth. The two upgrades only took about 60mins including re-stringing and set up. Great quality product and friendly service. Thanks again from Lee in the U.K :)))

  • where can you get a tremolo stopper??

  • There's one called the Tremol-no, look for their website

  • that will kill your tone, the best things to use are big metal washers, the improve attack and sustain.

  • my bad, didnt wait to see the end of the vid, thought you was another one of those youtubers giving crap advice.

  • can u explain how i would do thatr please or possibly if your a really nice person make a video on how to do it

  • John Travolta is particularly sinister in this video.

  • where do i get this berserket shirt?

  • The View Askew website used to sell them.

  • used to =\

"its a shame, its a damn shame."

    -chaka luther king

    ;)

  • i checked it out now, they do sell it. only $22

  • I must be retarded, but what does blocking the bridge do?

  • makes it so u cant use the whammy bar anymore...

if u block from the front u can only dive down...

  • it gives u a more.. mm stabile sound, clearer notes and easier way to tune

  • keeps it from going out of tune floating so much..........especially for a licenced floyd rose

  • do you mean the screw that actually holds the trem unit on the guitar?

  • you need to have it set up

the combined tension of the strings must equal the combined tension of the springs in the back

then it will stay in tune

  • well, if I'm tuned 1 step down, and I play with 11's, how do you suggest I have the springs set. I have 3 springs all going STRAIGHT paralell in the back

  • It's not something that can be told, you have to get it yourself, just mess around with it, find a tutorial online. Or you could pay 20-40 bucks to have it set up by a pro. Or more, depending on who does it.

  • yes, I have a locking nut.

Its an issue with the balancing of the trem itelf.

Even if I get it PERFECTLY level....as soon as I bend up it sinks in the body cavity(meaning the pitch is sharp).

If I do a dive bomb, the unit looks to be angling away from the guitar slightly(meaning the pitch will be flat)

    I AM LOST!!!

  • can someone PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

With my officail FLOYD ROSE, me tuning goes shap if I pull up, and my tuning goes flat if I even slightly divebomb.

So me and my bass player are out of tune with each other.

I can't figure out how to fix this.

    PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

  • Does your guitar sound better if you keep the backplate removed?

  • Joe isn't that good of a player it looks like.

  • my floyd was leaning back about a 1/16 of an inch, so I unlocked the nut, fumbled the screws around to even up the floyd level, and it is making go insane, I get it even, tune, lock the nut, then the strings go a whole step sharp, I loosen the spring screws, the strings to fuck, someone give me instructions so I don't start drinking over this XD, but I seriously need help.

  • You have to even out the string tension between all the strings, if all the strings tend to be sharp, tune your low e string down a whole step and then tune the A down a half step and then tune the others closer to in tune. You'l have to play with it to see how much you need to tune it. Honestly, i would just buy the temporary tremolo screw thing and you won't have to do this

  • About my floyd locking nut, for some reason when I lock the nut, the tuners on the headstock still tune the strings, it probably doesn't help that my alan wrench is rounded out, but using the opposite end of it doesn't help either, right?

  • about blocking the floyd, why dont you screw in a quarter to stop the pull ups. (screw it in right under the knife edge.)

  • not everyone wants a quarter screwed to the surface of the guitar like evh

  • how many guitars do you have bro? I wish I had that kind of moeny.

  • @Vanhalenguitars hey how do you stop your bridge like stop floting?

  • @Vengeanceisourpassio loosen the strings, stick a piece of wood or something under the tremolo, then tighten your strings and the wood blocks it . but i would get a kahler tremolo because you can turn a screw on it that turns it into a fixed bridge, but you can loosen it and it's a tremolo again.

  • Big Bloooooock!!!!!!!!!!

  • can anyone tell me if a licensed floyd like youd find on a mid range jackson (not an 'official') is any good im changing the edge 3 from my ibanez cos it sucks ass. Any help appreciated

  • liscened sucks only floyd original and edge pro will be a good choice

  • too late. hopefully it will be ok

  • i dont know which guitar to buy , the Jem Steve Vai signature ($2600) or the E-gen18 Herman Li signature ($2500), :( both of them are good, but which one should i buy???

  • without a doubt id go for the jem 7v thats a dream guitar for me. also i think the herman li one has scalloped frets which im not sure id like, harder to shred on. but id be pleased to have either at the price of them. however id also consider a jackson soloist if i were you. try them out somewhere. only going on what ive heard though

  • what ever feels good 2 you... and its all up 2 u...

  • try em a lot , jem haz also scaloped frets , and haz nice pickups , pretty nice overall

  • The one that plays better and sustains longer

  • I have an edge 3 on my ibanez and yeah it does suck. It's such an unreliable bridge to keep in tune when you whammy. I may just start keeping it blocked all the time, I barely use the whammy anyways.

  • yeah ive seen loads of bad things on forums about it, my new one came today. id have done that if i didnt change it, only i need to be able to do dive bombs. my edge 3 was so knackered it couldnt take a whammy

  • Yup wish i had a floyd. The problem with mine is that, i'll tune it and whatever, tighten the screws, then i'll whammy down or up. Right then if i whammy down my strings go insanely flat, and up sharp. That forces me to either retune it or fine tune it until it's correct. The only problem with the edge 3 is that i'll fine tune it back to tune, whammy down again, and it stays in tune. Then when i whammy up..boom. Sharp as hell. So i'd have to either choose to go up or down. It's a pain in the ass

  • hey man u need good quility springs then it should help or check if ur locking nut is fucked

  • I know man my springs aren't bad, and my locking nuts are fine. The only problem is my guitar only holds 3 springs, and what i NEED is a 4th or 5th spring. 3 springs leaves so much little tension on the bridge which causes it to move a lot. (I play very low most of the time Drop B etc)

  • Oh and also, my guitar only came with 3 spring slots, not 5. So i can't have that extra secure tension on the bridge by adding 1 or two strings. Stupidest thing i've ever seen. I'm a metal fan so I usually play with 11's or 12 strings down in drop B most of the time, so the edge really never works out. Oh well, i just blocked it and it's never been so in tune :D

  • And last but not least, is your guitar the RG5EX1? That's what i bought and it has the edge 3. Great guitar and pickups, poor tremolo system.

  • mines a cheap rg370dx which im changin the trem on and at the moment a pickup, but will do all of them. i was ripped off when i bought it was in such bad condition

  • Ah yeah that sucks.

  • well enjoy your journey to te correct spelling of "chord"

  • are you a floater?????

  • wow thank you need this info....

  • hes a really cool guy too, ive called floyde rose and adam answers the phone, hes like a jack of all trades, he wallked me through a set up right over the phone, top notch dude!!!!

    thanks adam

  • hmmi watched this a while ago but then i created my own way to block the floyd i think its the best way possible to block a floyd permently i just can believe no one though of it but me lol....

ima make good money reapiring guitars and blocking floyds with this new trick hahahah...

    yeah adam is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • well whats the trick???lol

  • lol...ima make money off of it lol....

    im a basterd hahahahahhaha...

only my custamers will know lol...HAHHAHAHHA XD

  • ok then , i gues i will put my guitar in the mail so you can do your trick

  • haahhaha...

what kinda guitar you got anywayz man?

  • 84 kramer baretta

  • krammer nice....

mostly those guitars are for thrash metal....

    you play thrash?

  • no i hate thrash,

i relaced the pick up with a JB seymour duncan, killer tone

  • what do you play then?

  • old stuff, zztop,, van halen, classic rock stuff, fun to play stuff,

thrash isnt something you play at a bar and expect people to dance too thats all,

although i can play a tonn of shit from the black album

  • !!!!! ALERT !!!! A-FUCKING-LERT !!!!

the black album is by no means thrash metal that album marks the fall of metallica.

sorry, it's just i get reallly worked up when people mention that album =)

  • your ropinion, but as metalica were at the beginning of thrash, and help evolve it, my opinion is everything metalica does is the evolution of thrash, just becasue they are not stuck in a creative rut, rammin out power cords like the rest of these "thrash" bands, doesnt mean the black album isnt thrash....

    cause it is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH

  • one word, my friend.

    no

  • well you enjoy your sliding power cord "thrash" then

  • no that album shown they were much more than just another thrash band. although ride the lightning did that. but all they did is move from thrash to heavy metal, not sell out like people say

  • for that tremolo stopper, do you have to drill holes or can you just screw the screw in to make its own hole?

  • idk if i should buy an ibanez JEM

because i dont want to fuck up the tremolo system and i dont want to pay super expensive repair/fixing costs

  • furthermore...the my guitar body is made of Alder..will I need to drill holes prior to installing the Tremolo stopper or should I just screw it in without drilling holes before hand...?

  • Do the newer floyd rose come with these new blocks?

  • I need some advice,

I just bought a new Charvel Socal model. I want to block my tremolo which at this time pulls up half a step so that I can install the D - Tuna.

The base plate is prallel to the body, but is not touching the body...is that okay? if not how do I fix that? Can I just install the tremolo blocker and then install the D - Tuna?

  • ur awesome man
