John Eldredge leart eastern mysticism and has trained in thearter he is the consummate false teacher laeding many astray·His ideas dont come from the bible."In modern shamanism, geese are also associated with communication, the ability to express oneself, especially through the use of stories. Its said that the goose as a totem signifies the importance of the childhood belief in stories and legendary places. The stories people liked most as a child might give insight in the patterns in their lives"
I would try to read Epic before all this arguing about what he means about battle. And can we just stop bashing other Christians? Or just go out and start speaking about what you believe since you all have very strong beliefs and convictions. I'm sure somebody would like to listen
Again, I would encourage you to look at what Jesus himself said about the good heart, noble heart and so on. No one including Eldredge would claim it is done by me or you. It is obviously not in us to change ourselves, God Himself said he would put a new heart in you. Is the heart He put in you now just as bad as the old one? Ezekiel 36:I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. What did God mean?
Maybe all this crude lust for battle in the heart of man is the fallenness of the male heart, after all the heart of man is deceitful above all things.
this is nothing but a string of crude appeals to pride.
i am, not to become a MAN, but to become a small child, after all it is for small children that the gospel is for
@Strefanash You know I think I probably would have agreed with you to a certain extent a number of years ago. But not longer. Yes the bible says the heart is wicked but that is the un regenerated heart. I would encourage you to look into all the passages that refer the good heart, noble heart, new heart, and so on. That is why we needed Christ you see. Our old hearts were just not capable of transformation but our new ones god is using to battle against a very real enemy in Satan.
@dkoone We are to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit each day until the Glorious Appearing and then we will be made whole. “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God” (Romans 8:13,14). With a new good heart the Apostle Paul would have never had to cruicfy his flesh daily. This stuff is a "new age" twist on the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
@Strefanash Sir, a "crude lust" for battle isn't what God has in mind. If it were, you think He would have stopped Peter from killing the men who came for Him in the garden of Gethsemane? If God was interested in bloodshed, the world would be bathed in blood, end of story. But there's hope. He is the PRINCE of Peace; He wants that peace in us, too. He calls us to battle evil, not our fellow man. He calls us to humility and respect, not arrogance and pride. He wants child-like faith in MEN.
