Wow some of those are hidious. Some of them however could be adjusted, added to and accessorised to look alright. Not everyone can afford the high quality ones and making the cheaper ones look good is a commendable skill in itself.

@rosemaxy Actually I wasn't being mean or negative. The aim here was so viewers understand not to get too crazy with odd prints, lace, wacky motifs. If you think this was mean, I don't think you should ever go on a some of the Lolita communities online. It will truly disillusion you.

To add on, just because a person may own a set of brand name lolita outfits does not mean they wont end up being labeled "itarori"... if they have bad coordinating skills with their accessories etc. And there are a few lolitas out there that can actually pull off "too much lace" - though most end up failing pretty miserably. xD

Okay... Well, I, as a lolita, do not let others tell me "This has too much lace etc" I usually end up picking, buying, and wearing what ever I find to be cute and adorable. I do have a limit to how much lace there is and although I usually end up finding the cutest JSKs in BTSSB or AP, not all Bodyline dresses are terrible - though lacking in quality, though some of their stuff - if you're careful with coordination can be cute too. and yes... the pink one earlier was a Kuroshitsuji cosplay. >.>"

Some people can't afford expensive brands such as Angelic Pretty and Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, therefore they buy from Bodyline. Some clothing from Bodyline is quite terrible, but some of it is ok and you can pull it off if you maybe redesign it or wear it decently. I don't mind Bodyline, really. What I don't like is when people wear lolita like it is cosplay or dress-up(for example, some people at anime conventions etc.), lolita is a fashion and culture.

I am a beginner lolita and even I know that these are a nightmare I mean the bad quality of the lace and the bad look that it has when I saw this I was like research as much as you can on the fashion then you can attempt to wear it so many beginner lolita's have this happen to them but I have not let this happen to me because I dont like horrible cosplay lolita dresses

ya i am a lolita and i made sure before i started whereing it that i knew alot about it so that when i got my first dress i good make a good choice none of those dresses are acceptable and anyone who thinks they are knows nothing about lolita

0:14 is actually a costume for the character Ciel from Kuroshitsuji, and nobody ever claimed that it was Lolita.

For people who see lolita as being something like cosplay or dressing up for fun, these dresses look fine, but for people who really love lolita clothes for their quality and the love put into them, these dresses are hideous and insulting to true lolita fashion. For those of you that think these dresses look okay, please try to understand more about lolita fashion.

I understand your point, but i think you're exaggerating. Lolita is not only about quality, but to feel comfortable and happy in the dress. Always this "Only with high qualitiy you are worth to call you these and that" makes me angry.

@TheMightyGosh Exactly! I hate it when people say things about how bodyline is NOT a brand and is stupid! People have said that the quality is actually GREAT and yet more "experienced" lolitas say they're horrible! I don't understand but just like a tuxedo or a gown, it doesn't matter about quality,it's about how beautiful the gown or tuxedo is to that person. I think bodyline's items are cute(cuter than some brands) so yeah...um..byez!☺☻♥

@YoYoSlowmo *blink* Um, I've never heard any "experienced lolitas" say any of those things about Bodyline, especially recently? Back in the day when you could only get their stuff from cosmates they were mostly terribad, but these days you can actually find some gems from them (like I know it's probably a minor heresy of the Church of OTT Sweet to say so, but I actually prefer Bodyline's carousel print to Angelic Pretty's. It's not so gaudy and busy-looking).

@ladyhrist Have you even been on EGL lately? Ton's of Lolitas buy from bodyline. Even "experienced lolitas" buy from Bodyline. Experience isn't a factor here, it's budget. Someone could have been wearing lolita for years now and still buy from Bodyline if they can't afford to buy brand all the time. Bodyline has good stuff but they also have 'lace monsters' too. They aren't very good at complicated designs but they aren't horrible. :I

anyone who owns or actually thinks these clothes are acceptable is most likely a beginner lolita.

As you are exposed to the fashion in greater depth- you will be able to see true quality and craftmanship in the garments

and gain a greater appreciation for it as well.

It's perfectly understandable to see how someone who has little to no exposure to the fashion would find these knock-off imitations as authentic lolita attire.

@poisondesires I just don't think these are really well-fit items and one looked anime-ish, another the socks were too high, and one or two the items like sleeves,or the dress, etc were to long. It gives me nightmares! I don't care about brand though, it's about how well its and the material or quality. Mainly because lolita isn't always cheap.

And btw, if you have had experience within the lolita community, you would know that knock offs are looked down upon; not only are they lacking in quality but they are basically copyright infringements of the original designer's work.

and knock off's are never nice dresses. Just a bunch of cheap polysester costumes.

the problem is they're NOT nice dresses whatsoever. most of them are made by bodyline, or by chinese slave labour. each dress is made cheap and without love... if you had a brand piece you would tell the difference immediately.

they're badly coordinated and there's way too much lace on all of them.. they're just plain ugly. I think poison desires was quite right!

and it's not stuck up to enjoy good quality clothes. it's knowing the difference between sh*t and quality

@KanameShito I have owned bodyline dresses in the past. And trust me, from experience I know the quality isn't as good as the brands who have truly dedicated designers.

Bodyline's designs aren't actually nice. The textiles designers aren't that great, they choose bad fabric, not only that but the general manufacturing of the items is way off the mark 70% of the time.

Plus they plagiarised an Angelic Pretty print, need I go on?

Points like this devalue the company. That's why Bodyline is cheap.

But other than BL I see other areas that have good products for cheap but they are using made in china so it may not turn out to be what you wanted

The same goes for Brand I was in the Btssb store in SF at one time there was good and there was bad so..( I won't go into detail ) but the coordination was a nightmare(too much lace) But I found the dress I liked so I was happy

I've seen a bigger version of the same picture.

1: Skirt is too short

2: The fabric is shiny. That is a no-no

3: No Headress

4: Too much makeup (it's easier to see it in the bigger picture)

In general, her outfit is slutty and not good for lolita.
