  • I don't think they are being cruel. I think they are being cowardly. Look, it's all good and well if you want to sign an agreement transferring rights of parenthood (loco parentis) to the school. It's creepy, but it's your decision to let other, more wise and pious men of God manage you. But you need to decide if you are going to pledge allegiance to the US in chapel, complete with rights of expression, or align yourself with your new parents, who seek to curtail those rights.

  • He's very right, they don't do it to brain wash us or control our thinking. If people choose to go to harding they sign a legally binding document that says they are not allowed to do these things otherwise they will be suspended. You can't say Harding is being cruel and controlling, because every student at harding is subject to these rules. What happened is that somebody broke the rule and they enforced it and it's a shock to anyone that people will still stand for something anymore.

  • I think that was absolutely a perfect example of CoC College Administrator-ese. Essentially, "we blocked it not to control your thinking, but we blocked it to control your thinking. Because we were offended by it."

  • love people.

  • religion is stupid

  • Haha, I was there when this happened. I left (about a month after this) to save my Christianity.

  • @backinpurple Save your Christianity? How did this impede your Christianity?

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I didnt want to be like all he other Harding tools.

  • @backinpurple That really didn't answer the question. How is being at a Christain school going to impede your Christianity? And fyi, I went to Harding, and yes there are tools there, but I didn't know anybody in the Bible department that impeded my Christianity.

  • You can love Jesus and see his greatness (believe me..I see it brethren!) but also, at the same time...you see the fanatics who have destroyed his message for their own selfish reasons. Usually in the form of power. Harding and the church of christ are prime examples.

  • @thevengeance000 I read your blog, and I would just like to say thank you. For too long I have felt like the only sane person hiding in a flock of dumb sheep. These morons need to wake up and realize that there's a real world outside their little bubble.

  • I'm going to go further and say this: at one time in my life I felt the same way about gay people (much reflected in Dr. Burks homophobic speech) and I felt that they were "willfully sinning" ..just plain evil you know...but over time...I realized this was propaganda and filth ingrained into my head by my parents and the church of christ since I was a kid. Always an enemy out there for christians: gay people, pro-choice people, evolutionists, etc.... I'm glad I'm finally free. I still love Jesus

  • @rustyshackelfurt (are you a Shackelford kid in disguise?) HUF rules! I actually do have a valid point and argument (i was just being sarcastic on my last point). I was one of you at one point in my life, and after years of studying and growing up...I finally saw harding and the church of christ for what it truly is- an institution that controls and manipulates a large herd of people. It instills fear and guilt. It quietly teaches you to NOT accept others outside of your faith. Plain and simple.

  • @kingofdiamonds85- Oh my goodness. My apologies to you. Ya got me good. I admit: I am a liar. Yes, I admit - I hate any organization that uses fear and guilt disguised as love and compassion to control a massive herd of religious idiots like yourself, who in turn- treat outsiders and non religious folks with indifference and inequality simply because they don't conform to your distorted version of the truth. My blog is ridiculous- yes, but it's based on the truth. I know, I was among you tards!

  • When did you go to Harding?

  • Thank you Harding for standing firm on what is true and right in the sight of the Lord! It's so sad that so many so called "Christians" don't stand firm on such issues. I applaud you for it!

  • I went to Hardly..uh.. I mean Harding and so I know FIRST HAND what I saw and witnessed. I even did missionary work at one point, so please...don't tell I'm being discriminating and that I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't hate harding..I just think it's a fairy tale world for weak minded people. Any religion that excludes people because they don't accept its version of the truth is absurd. Believe in Christ or else your gonna burn in Hell big boy! Gee..thanks for the options Lord.

  • @thevengeance000 I just read your ridiculous blog you started and you sir a liar when you say you don't hate Harding. You have a very skewed view of Harding is and have some ridiculous opinions that aren't based in facts. Your basically saying if I don't believe in your brand of truth then I'm a bigot and homophobe. Way to be closed minded.

  • @thevengeance000

So your saying dr. Burks is discriminative? But your discriminating the man just because he's a white Christian. Not only that, but you call him a bigot, but apparently your a bigot too if you hate Harding and our beliefs. And you have a point, the world is becoming more populated and knowing the truth, thats why currently 1/3 of the world considers themself Christian which is about 2.2 billion people (thats more than there's ever been). So like sirzookie said

    GTFO

  • Double yes hbcool! Lol

  • Harding blocks pornographic sites and so they blocked huqueerpress. There were penis' for crying out loud and vulgar articles about seeing somebodies butt and how you got horny. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HARDING, LEAVE AND GO PARTY IT UP SOMEWHERE ELSE

  • @thevengance hey you stfu he's not being discriminative so gtfo just because he disagrees with it like me dosnt make us discriminative. My best friend is gay I don't support it but he's my friend so gtfo or stfu

  • Underneath that fake "good ol' boy" persona, Dr. Burks is just another white fundamentalist Nazi. The bigotry of schools like Harding is not going to last because the world is becoming too populated and people are realizing the truth about all religions, and are no longer afraid to speak up. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISCRIMINATE against people of race or sexual orientation within your own little private school boundaries. You can't call yourself a "christian" and act as a bigot.

  • @thevengeance000 You know someone has no argument when they start resorting to ad hominem attacks within the very first sentence of their comment. Harding doesn't discriminate against anyone. Gays are allowed to attend school and there are even homosexuals on campus that are out of the closet. Could they encounter people who are hostile to them? Of course, as they would at even if the most liberal of Universities. Do us all a favor and educate on the subject at hand before speaking next time.

  • i was soooo there. i agree. the site was offensive. we are not to make fun of people. we are to love them. being a homo may be sinful, but that does not give us the right to hurt others because of it.

  • JESUS IS LORD! Thank you Dr. Burks

  • we don't want to control your thinking..... BUT ....

  • There was nothing wrong with the Huqueerpress.

This man would have been expelled from the Divinity School I went to, and they act like he's a prophet.

  • What a joke. These people take their stupid fairy tales so seriously.

  • That statement about churches of Christ that says they think they are the only ones going to heaven is completely wrong! they are just trying to follow what the Bible says is the way to get to heaven. But in the end it is God's choice alone who gets to go! People need to stop making ignorant comments about things that they hear from other people.(rumors are not truth!)

  • The Church of Christ is a cult. They told us if we went to state schools, we were condemned to eternal hell.

  • @nomorefunds My brother grew up in the church of Christ and he was never told he'd go to hell for his college of choice, that's ridiculous.

  • @kristendoll10 . Everyone knows that Church of Christ believe they are the only ones who will go to heaven. Also, I went to Harding and they told us EVERY day that people in state colleges were all "heathens and sinners".

  • @MrWomanpower When did you go to Harding? I went there and at no time did anyone Church of Christ say we were the only ones going to heaven, or that anyone who went to state school were heathens or sinners. And I was in the Bible department.

  • (continued) sexuality? In this video - Dr. Burks states a lot of facts. Even gay students at this school could have predicted every word in this speech, but where was the sense of community or help from the school's president?

Again - I am making an observation. Im not a student here so I really dont know.

  • These comments are the exact opposite of what should be happening. We are all human beings created by the same God, why cant we all just talk to each other that way? As a Christian that is Pro Gay rights (cant wait for the dumb comments about that statement) I have no big problem with what was said.

And now, I am not on this campus so I dont know what types of conversations and support systems are going on at this campus - but is there welcoming support for students struggling with their

  • @Slepsog4 -- Each of your statements are so... debatable, if not false. All I'm going to say is Thomas Jefferson also owned slaves, but that was wrong, too; plus a lot of historians think he was pretty atheist. My point is that if you have to hurt people to follow some religion, your religion has problems. Stop hurting gays!

  • @anatolebroyard'

I am not hurting anyone. Warning someone about the impending threat of pain and suffering to come is an effort to prevent hurt. What does slavery have to do with any of this. Besides Thomas Jefferson was NOT an atheist. The gospel of Christ is about God's love for mankind. The death of Christ should remind us all of how serious God is about sin. Jesus called people to repentance as did his apostles and all faithful disciples to this day. People can be saved from their sin

  • @Slepsog4 I havent really read a thing from this argument except for the Thomas Jefferson part. I am pretty sure she was a deist, which means that they think God spun the world into being and just kind of let it go. So he believes in God, just not the Church of Christ kind of God.

  • @mehhholland,

One should be very careful about using a current understanding of a term to define its use 200 years earlier. Jefferson was a man who believed in and advocated prayer. He also required Watts hymnal and the Bible to be the primary texts in the public school in DC.

  • lol, y'all got trolled

  • freedom of speech?

  • @poeticmurder911 as long as it doesn't infringe on any other individuals rights.

  • I want evidence!

  • @KingofDiamonds85 You REALLY can't understand that simple bit of logic? I suppose it's not surprising, all things considered. Let me put it to you this way... If God exists, then how come Richard Dawkins says he doesn't? I don't think he could be wrong.

  • @IkeClinton Logic? You made a stupid question: "If God exists, why doesn't God exist?" That makes not sense to anybody. Richard Dawkins?! That's your proof?! Because a MAN says there is no God, then you can't see how he is wrong?! I would like for Mr. Dawkins to show me how there is no God! You are basing your opinion off a man who can't prove that God doesn't exist. How pathetic.

  • @IkeClinton,

Wow! Are you really going to deify Dawkins? Has he become your god? You have essentially given him a divine attribute. If he cannot be wrong, then he must know everything (omniscience). If he knows everything, then he must be god. Oh, but he does not know everything, then one of the things he may not know is that God does exist. The best he can really hope for is to say that he is not satisfied with the information to suggest that there is a God. He can only be agnostic.

  • can't we all just get along?? :p

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Okay, let me explain this to you so that maybe even you can understand it. If God exists, then why doesn't God exist?

  • @IkeClinton That's not an explanation. That's a nonsensical question. What is that suppose to prove about what's being discussed?

  • @IkeClinton I lol'd.

  • You can't change History

Thomas Jefferson: "I am a real Christian, that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus."

“ The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend to all the happiness of man.”

  • @KingofDiamonds85 -- Of course gays want to get married and say it-- same reason why straights do-- for social and legal benefits and recognition. That's not so complicated. Otherwise why don't straights get civil unions? It doesn't make sense why you'd separate us out. As you said before, we aren't under Levitical law, so I don't understand why you say being gay or being in gay relationships is a sin -- let alone a sin that merits banning us from everything. How can you harm people?

  • @anatolebroyard,

The Bible is very clear that marriage is by intent and design a covenant relationship between a man and woman to be husband and wife. This is the context in which the expression of sexuality is moral. Marriage is the foundation of the home which in turn is the foundation for society. The Bible is consistent on its condemnation of all variations. It specifically singles out homosexuality to not only be immoral but also unnatural and detestable. The is true cover to cover.

  • @Slepsog4 -- Regardless of how people interpret the Bible, which is variable and debatable, the US government is not and should not be dictated by the Bible. That's part of the heart of this country: separation of church and state. Not everyone believes in the Bible, and it's not right to harm gays just because some people interpret a religious text to mean that.

Any so-called "Bible teaching" that tells you to detest someone else is pretty specious. Hurting people is not Christian!

  • @anatolebroyard Don't even try. These people are off their rocker. They will only tell you IT'S MY VERSION OF CHRISTIANITY OR YOU ARE NOT LIVING RIGHT. Pretty useless. It's alright though, they are the loud minority.

  • @anatolebroyard,

God is the one who inspired the writings of Scripture. He is the one who describes this behavior as detestable or an abomination. He is the one who called it going after strange flesh. Did you realize that Congress initiated the first printing of the Bible in the USA? Did you know that Thomas Jefferson initiated having church services in the capital and had the marine band as the orchestra? Did you know that the 10 commandments are displayed in the Supreme Court?

  • @Slepsog4 the bible reads like violent porn, dumbbunny

  • @jerrydoubleu That's a bogus statement. And where in the world did you get that opinion on the Bible?

  • One study reports that the average homosexual has between 20 and 106 partners per year. The average heterosexual has 8 partners in a lifetime.

73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization.

50% of suicides can be attributed to homosexuals.

    Not God's plan!

  • @KingofDiamonds85 -- Yes, it's a privilege that shouldn't be given or banned based on sexual orientation. I'm glad you say that gays and straights are equal. I wish American law and religions actually backed that up. Back to the university: those beliefs against gays actively harm a lot of people, plain and simple, and it's not the first time that religious beliefs have done so. It should change.

  • @anatolebroyard By law it isn't banned in the since of civil unions. Most gay people I meet seem to want to get married for the sake of saying that they are married. The fact that civil unions with a few exceptions are the same thing, I honestly don't see the problem. Gay and straight are equal in that we are all humans made in the image of God, and sin doesn't seperate the fact that we should love each other. Christianity does back up that idea, but it still doesn't like the sin.

  • @anatolebroyard Again, how is it actively harm people? No one is getting beat up, picketed, harassed, or anything.

  • Sophie... God's design is universal... for all people, for all time. Since eternity hangs in the balance and a day of judgment is coming, the most loving thing to do is to help people understand God's will as emphatically stated in the Bible. Homosexuality is contrary to both design and divine command. It is an unnatural form of sexual immorality. The Holy Spirit via Paul states that such will not inherent the kingdom. He also states that such can change, ie. repent. (1 Cor 6:9-11)

  • @Slepsog4 LOL

  • @SophieDefriend,

Sin, death, judgment, and hell are hardly laughing matters.

  • @Slepsog4 Too bad, I'm laughing.

  • @SophieDefriend,

For you to think this is a laughing matter tells me that you are the one who really hates homosexuals. You would rather they not be told the truth so that they can feel ok in this sinful state and behavior. For if they stay in their present situation and die in their sins, you know they would be lost come judgment. For you to laugh at the seriousness of this must mean you do not want them to repent and be saved. Talk about evil.

  • @Slepsog4 LMAO. Jeez. I want to think you're a troll, but I know there are crazy Christians who think like you do. My only comfort is that you are in the minority. W/e.

  • @SophieDefriend,

You ability to reason coherently is in high question. To think that such perversion is ok and then to think that the perspective from which I speak is the minority is seriously tilted.

  • @Slepsog4 LOL. You are the minority, dude. There are so many Christians - especially now - who reject this type of thinking that says gay people are unnatural and must be ~cured~. I'm sure if Jesus was alive, he wouldn't stand for it either, because he LOVED the outcasts of society and he understood everyone has their own path. It would be really easy for me to say that all Christians are like you, but I know they aren't. They're better.

  • @SophieDefriend

This is what Jesus told the prostitute “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

"priduce furt in keeping with repentace" you must have repentace!

  • @SophieDefriend,

There is a world of difference between being an outcast and being militantly and impenitently immoral. Those who die IN their sins will be lost. Jesus loved all of us enough to die for our sins. But he also commands us to repent. This begins with a change of mind concerning what HE calls sin. It progresses through a change of life and behavior. You are displaying a spirit of rebellion against the design and plan of a holy God. Truth is always narrow.

  • @Slepsog4 Outcasts - those who society deems as horrible but don't really do harm to others (pot smokers, gay people, women who like tosex)

Immoral people - those who knowingly do harm to others (rapists, pedophiles, murderers)

Or are we operating on a different level? Because those who do harm to themselves have their own path to follow, and it is not our job to "fix" them. If you believe God heals and God helps people, then shouldn't He, and not you?

  • @SophieDefriend The fact that you keep holding to the idea that it is not our job to help people who are killing themselves, makes you the most evil person posting here.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 LOL

Pot, being gay, and safe sex does not kill.

    You are so ridiculous.

But whatevs. Like I said, you are so completely in the minority and this hate is fading fast. In the near future, you will be looked down upon for your bigotry, just like the racists. :)

  • @SophieDefriend Really? Tell that to the family of a kid in my school who died smoking pot laced with some other drug that caused his heart to explode. Tell the families of gay people who contracted AIDS from the practice that it doesn't kill. Explain how safe sex doesn't kill? You want statistics on suicides, murders, and AIDS victims that died as a result of "safe sex?" Your are ridiculous to have such a narrow-minded worldview of life on this planet and how actions affect everybody.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 "pot laced with some other drug" - da hurr, it was laced with something else. Pot itself does not kill you.

AIDS isn't exclusive to sex or gay people. Lmao.

And safe sex does not kill. It's just...safe sex. Jesus.

Idek what to say, you're kind of way out there dude. But you go on ahead with yo' bad self, thinking everything is immoral and tainted and sinful. The whole world is just one big scarefest, huh? Have fun.

  • @SophieDefriend That still doesn't comfort the family, and the fact is if he wasn't smoking pot that wouldn't of happened. I didn't say AIDS was exclusive to gay people, you just made an absolute statement, and I proved you wrong in that statement. No sex outside of marriage or even in cases in marriage is safe. Condoms break, birth control doesn't always work. I've known girls that have committed suicide over there bf breaking up with them after "safe sex". I knew a man who died of AIDS after

  • @SophieDefriend continued: the condom broke after "safe sex". The fact that you are making a mockery of these real life situations again shows that you have no moral compass. You disgust me.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I'm not even gonna argue with you anymore. You are making arguments that anyone who has lived outside a Only-Christian box can refute. It's actually kind of funny now. Like I said, you are the minority. You can continue to think you aren't, but anyone with a brain knows things are changing. They will always change. And you are free to be stuck in the past. Thank you.

  • @SophieDefriend Then don't reply to me anymore, why are you talking to me to tell me your not talking to me anymore? You have not refuted one argument I have made, you just make absolute statements with no proof to back it up. The fact the you think a lot of what we have talked about is funny, just backs up how disgusting a person you are. Minority? PROVE IT! Things are changing, and eventhough being gay is more "mainstream" the idea of it is still repulsive to most Americans, and that's not

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Did you know gay people also carry the black plague?!!! It's true! They are baby eaters and also kick puppies!!!!

  • @SophieDefriend continued: Again, show me how I'm in the minority. Maybe with your clique I am but not in this country. Again, show me where I said or hinted that I hate gay people. As a Christian, I'm already looked down upon by people like you because I actually have a moral compass to direct my path, where you have the "let'em die if it makes them happy" attitude.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 No, there is growing favor of gay rights in this country and it continues to grow everyday. With every new generation, the bigotry of the last wears out. People like me? Lol. I have no moral compass? Lol. You really need to come up with something new, because the EVERYONE IS IMMORAL BUT MY VERSION OF CHRISTIANITY thing is wearing thin. No wonder a lot of people are ashamed to be associated with the Christian church sometimes.

  • @SophieDefriend WHERE? Show me where. How old are you? I bet we are not that far off in age. You don't have a moral compass, you've made that clear. It's not MY version of Christianity, open the Bible and you will see yourself.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I don't have a moral compass because I don't agree with your version of Christianity? Wow, your religion is so loving! :)

What does age have to do with this?

But yeah dude, idk what else to tell you other than start paying attention. Maybe come out of your little Fundamentalist Christian Bubble for a while and start actually living without fear. Idk.

  • @SophieDefriend You don't have a moral compass because you believe "if it makes them happy let them die." How is that loving? And yes my faith is loving, yours is not. Age has to do with your statement that your generation is becoming OK with homosexuality, which I would beg to differ because I bet we aren't that far off in age. I'll start, I'm 26. Actually, because of Jesus I don't live in fear, but in joy. Joy that I have a walk with the Almighty God, one I hope you find someday.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I'm terrible man. I don't follow your religion or believe in God. Doesn't really matter what else I do, because I'm the most immoral person just for that fact. I kick babies in the face. I confirmed it for you before you could say it. :D I have no morals, I'm just a walking non-Jesus freak! HORRRORRRR

  • @SophieDefriend,

Why does government restricts alcohol, tobacco, & other substances? Why are warnings issued all the time about other risky behaviors? Why are insurance rates lower for people who don't live risky lifestyles? All of these are to encourage responsible behavior. Besides that, the church has been commissioned to "preach repentance" (Lk 24). Part of the role of the church is to be light and in doing so we are to "expose the unfruitful works of darkness" (Eph. 5:11).

  • @Slepsog4 Wait, do you follow the Church or do you follow God/Jesus?

Or does it not matter, unless you can condemn others and make yourself feel morally superior? :)

  • @SophieDefriend,

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are the revelation of His will. I follow Him by submitting to His Word. The role of the church is to be the pillar and ground of the truth. We are to love it, learn it, live it and tell it. The person who has never murdered is morally superior in that case to the one who is a murderer. The person who has saved themselves for marriage before having sex is morally superior in that case to the prostitute. God has already spoken

  • @SophieDefriend,

It is true that there are some "professing" to be Christians among liberal denominations who embrace the homosexual agenda. Liberal denominations are in decline. Conservative Bible teaching groups are growing. You cannot possibly be serious to think that my position is a minority one among Christians. Jesus said, Repent or else.

  • @Slepsog4 As for your semi-political talk, it seems like you follow a Conservative teaching rather that Jesus's teaching. That sucks. I thought Jesus was supposed to be love - I thought above all it was about loving people and doing good, not judging, condemning, and scaring people. Whatever you have to tell yourself to get through the day is fine, but facts are facts. Just like racism, homophobia will disappear. I await that day and won't stop fighting for it in the present.

  • @SophieDefriend How is it not Jesus' teaching? Jesus is love and he loves us so much that he died that we would have a chance of eternal life in heaven, and can have redemption for our sins. Not that we could keep on sinning and we still go to heaven. Not Judging, ever read the 7 whoas to the Pharisees. Condemning, read the Sermon on the Mount. Scaring people, do you know who talked about Hell the most in the Bible? Racism is gone? Where do you live, I would like to visit.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Gah, I didn't mean to say racism was gone, just that it is completely looked down upon as a disgusting point of view to hold in society.

As for the rest, I'm not even going to try. You are so caught up in your twisted Christian dogma you can't see how other people live or any other way. That's sad. I'll defend your right to believe whatever you want, but like I said, it stops when its hurting other people. Thanks.

  • @SophieDefriend I agree racism is horrible and I wish it could be gotten rid of. And you are caught up in your twisted world view of "let'em die if it makes them happy." Honestly, if everybody lived the Christian lifestyle the world wouldn't have half the problems it has. Again, show me where I'm hurting other people, JUST ONE EXAMPLE!!!

  • @KingofDiamonds85 And you know who defended racism? Christians. They used the Bible to justify their hatred against people who were doing nothing but existing. They did the exact same thing you are doing now. Racism and homophobia creates a society of harm, it creates an environment that leads people to think they are worthless and kill themselves, and others to think its okay to kill them.

  • @SophieDefriend Atheists defended slavery more than Christians, like Douglas Wilson. Show me where they justified it. I've asked it before, so either show me or stop bringing it up. Show me where I am using the Bible to hate gay people. I've actually not put one verse since talking to you on this matter.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 LMAO atheists defended slavery more than christians?! What kind of history have you been reading? Founding Fathers were extremely Christian (according to you, at least) and most of them were slave owners who vehemently defended their "right" to own slaves. You can't be this willfully ignorant and contradictive. I don't even need to cite anything - go take a history class man! ):

  • @SophieDefriend Yes, they did. What kind of history? I can read a book to find out about it can you. Read "Christ in the Camp." for the Christian perspective. Read about Douglas Wilson. Founding fathers were Christian, but you show me one time where they used the Bible to defend slavery. Actually, men like Thomas Jefferson, wanted to include slaves in the DOI as being free of England and it's laws. Fun fact, the first slaveowner was black, Anthony Johnson. Doesn't make it right, but most

  • @SophieDefriend people don't know that. You call me willfully ignorant, yet I have provided proof of my position, while you have not, NOT ONCE. So who is willfully ignorant. This is clear by the comment, "I don't even need to cite anything" you mean, you CAN'T because you are not smart enough to have one. My minor in college was history, try again.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 LMAOOOO <3

  • @SophieDefriend,

Ethnicity and homosexuality have nothing in common. I am offended at the suggestion that they are. Ethnicity is not a behavior and is of no moral consequence unlike homosexuality. BTW, there is only one race... human. It comes it a beautiful variety of color, etc. Jesus died for all mankind to save us FROM our sin... not IN our sin. Christianity is how God reconciled sinful man to Himself and how he brought Jew and Gentile together. Christianity is not racist.

  • @Slepsog4 Lmaooooo

  • @SophieDefriend I'm sensing you have a real problem with people who are not Christian. And that's sad. That's what intolerance is. Maybe you should move to a different country, because America is not a theocracy. Freedom of religion, and the right to practice whatever you feel is right is in the first amendment. To think that everyone should be Christian is just...messed up. I feel sorry for you.

  • @SophieDefriend Depends on what those people who are not Christians, or even proclaimed Christians are doing. I love everybody, even you, eventhough you obviously don't agree with me. Intolerance? That is what you are doing by not tolerating the Bibles and Christians view on homosexuality. Again, tolerance is stupid. Nobody can be tolerant, that is what is destructive. Thinking everyone SHOULD be Christian is not messed up. FORCING people to be Christian is messed up and against the Bible.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 You want laws to be made specifically and solely under your Christian dogma. That would force everyone to live under your religion. Now, if you have an argument that isn't GODJESUSBIBLE, then I'll consider it. But until then, your argument is literally invalid. "My religion said so" is NOT a good reason for any law.

I don't have to "tolerate" the Bible since I don't believe in it. Lololol. :)

  • @SophieDefriend A lot of laws already are made out of Christian values. And no that doesn't force anybody to live under my religion. In fact, it is my religion that teaches that we should teach others about the salvation of Jesus, but we CAN'T force them to accept it if they don't want it. The GODJESUSBIBLE comment is stupid, since we are in fact talking about the Bible. Your right, you don't have to read or understand the Bible, which you clearly don't and haven't, if you don't want to.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I've read the Bible, I just don't think it's divine because it was written by man. Give me all your fake sympathy for my life about which you don't even know anything about <3

So judgemental. I love the smell of fundamentalism in the morning! :)

  • @SophieDefriend,

Christians seek to persuade everyone else to be saved precisely because we want to please Jesus. It was His command that said "make disciples of all nations" and "preach the gospel to every creature". A disciple of Jesus would be disobedient if he/she did not seek to proclaim the righteous demands of God and call people to repentance leading to salvation.

  • @SophieDefriend And again, nobody here is "afraid" of gay people. You fight out of ignorance and perversion. You claim to fight for a righteous cause yet can't even explain how it is righteous. I'm still waiting for you to tell me how it is natural. Your logic on most posts seems to be, "as long as they are themselves and are not hurting me, let them do it even if it kills them." Definition of evil

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I don't owe anything to you, dude. It's a YouTube conversation and I think you are really fucking ridiculous, lmao. I believe people have their own path to follow, and there's a difference between helping someone and indoctrinating them into hating themselves. Like I said, you're the minority, so I'm not sweating your hatred. I know there are truly good people out there who are religious, and you aren't one them.

  • @SophieDefriend Then stop replying. If you don't want to contribute to the discussion the easy thing to do is walk away. The fact that you keep replying to tell me you don't have to reply is pathetic. I am helping, and I actually teach them to love themselves, and to step away from a destructive lifestyle. You keep saying I'm in the minority, I want proof. You don't know me well enough to judge me, I guess me talking about love and respect make me evil compared to your let them die theory, huh.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 The proof is in society dude. The proof is that things are advancing for gay people and the people who your group condemn. Discrimination laws, hate laws, DADT, and eventually gay marriage. And the world has not ended. Haters gonna hate and all that. In the end, I know what the outcome is. It's only a matter of time. :) No one is dying from being gay, just hating themselves and others.

  • @SophieDefriend No it's not, society as a whole is still against gay marriage and that lifestyle. The only that that may have changed is societies idea of "if it's behind closed doors" theory. Again, my group, who is my group? Again, where am I preaching to hate gay people? Your reaction is purely driven by emotion and not facts. No one is dying, you know how many men die from gay sex?

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I'm facepalming so much right now. You are probably the dumbest person I've ever met lmao. Do you live in some secluded Christian compound where you don't interact with the real world?

    But anyway.

Good day. This is fruitless and you are obviously too crazy for me to even seriously argue with. I've been bantering with you for the sake of interest, but you've bored me now with your nonsensical arguments.

  • @SophieDefriend I would actually say the same thing about you being the dumbest person I've met. How old are you again? Nope, I live in a big city, actually the middle of the city. Crazy? That's up for debate, but don't try to pose as the righteous one in this discussion since you haven't answered or proven your points at all. You have made the most disgusting posts I've seen in a while on this video, and it sickens me.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 OMG you know what? I've seen the light. You are so freaking nice and sensible, that I realize now if I don't become like you, God will strike me down.

Wait. He hasn't...:s Am I not being ~heathen~ enough?

Ah well, it will happen eventually. :D

    See you in hell!

  • @SophieDefriend,

True love speaks truth. True love protects people from destructive choices. Jesus was more conservative than the Old Testament law. Jesus pointed to the fact that it is not just avoiding murder but avoiding hatred. He also said it was not just about adultery but avoiding lust in the heart. It is not just about not stealing, but don't covet. BTW, Jesus spoke more about hell than any other person in the Bible. He commanded the woman caught in adultery to sin no more.

  • @Slepsog4 Did you know I'm atheist? Lol. :3 Tell me your reaction to that. I'd love to hear it! :D

  • @SophieDefriend,

How about I give you God's reaction? "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no god.'"

Did you know that one can only believe there is no god? One cannot know there is no god. One cannot prove a universal negative. The best one can really do is be an agnostic... claim that there is insufficient evidence to come to a firm conclusion. The Greek based term agnostic closely parallels the Latin based term ignoramus. God says there is no excuse.

  • @Slepsog4 Hmm. I give your reaction a 5/10. Good use of made-up etymology and telling me what I am without knowing me. Still, you could do better.

    Now to step it up.

Does God also think I eat babies? Or that I'm ruining all of society by existing? :3 Please be as insane as possible in your response and show me how your God is full of hatred!

  • @SophieDefriend,

LOL, homophobia. Now there is a silly word. Why would someone be afraid of a person who is so mixed up morally that he doesn't even understand the proper design of his/her sexuality? What irritates many people is not that certain people have chosen to be moral deviants. But rather that they are militant in trying to force society to embrace their choice as if it is normal, healthy, and legitimate. Normalizing homosexuality is destructive to societies base of the family.

  • @SophieDefriend He is not the minority. You are actually the minority. Christians are commanded to love. However, the act of homosexuality is sinful, the bible makes it clear. However, that doesn't mean that one's will should be imposed on another. God designed us to have free-will for a reason. He wants us to make our own decision. I believe that the act of homosexuality is not more or less sinful then lying, committing adultery, or whatever.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 -- Straight people are not better than gays, and marriage is for healthy straight or gay relationships. Having a man and women together is *hardly* the rule for having a blessed marriage. Having a loving relationship in which a family can grow *is* the rule, and gay people have that, too. Unfortunately gays are unfairly kicked out of that legal institution (and religious institution) in the USA for no sound reason at all.

  • @anatolebroyard I never said that gay people are better or worse than straight people. Again, marriage is not a right to anybody. I've told a straight couple before I refused to marry them before. Sound reason is NOBODY has the right to get married. There are plenty of straight people who get denied the right to marry for various reasons.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Not by the government, which is what LEGAL MARRIAGE MEANS. Lol, it's like you're willfully ignorant.

  • @SophieDefriend Last time I checked the government still holds that marrriage is between a man and woman, it is only on the state level where that could change and most haven't. Ignorance is bliss isn't it.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Yes, legally, but you are arguing that no one has the right to marry because of your religious beliefs. The fight for gay marriage has nothing to do with religious marriage. It has everything to do with legal marriage.

  • @SophieDefriend No, NOBODY has the right to get married. You show me some law that says that marriage is a RIGHT.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 I'm pretty sure that Congress already ruled that marriage was a right. The only reason people are against gay marriage is because some religious reasons, which have ZERO place in government, ESPECIALLY as basis for a law. Again, this is not a theocracy.

  • @SophieDefriend Then show me. That's all I'm asking. Marriage in itself is a religious institution, the government mostly recognizes civil unions which gay people can have. You do realize that a lot of the laws we have are based on religion right? There are a lot of people in the medical profession against it as well.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 But yeah, judging from this statement, I guess you believe that marriage shouldn't be issued by government?

  • @SophieDefriend,

Government did not establish marriage. Marriage was created by God. The particulars as it relates to the process of declaring a couple to husband and wife vary by culture. This declaration protects the partners, children, and property rights, etc. The regulations protect people from those who might manipulate, or abuse.

Morality wasn't invented by government either. The role of government is to uphold what is right (morally and legally). Immorality of every kinds hurts.

  • @Slepsog4 "Marriage was created by God"

Um...do you even know the origin of marriage? (Tip: it's not ~adam and eve~ or whatever. I mean actual history here.)

Lol why am i even trying.

  • @SophieDefriend,

Just because you refuse to recognize the historicity of the biblical account does not make it untrue.

The Bible is divine rather than human in origin. One should consider the manuscript evidence; the archaelogical support; the prophetic fulfillment; scientific foreknowledge among other things.

  • @Slepsog4 Are you serious? I mean, if we were talking about religious marriage only, you'd have an argument. But we are talking about marriage by law. The Bible is divine if you believe it is so - that is all. Idek what the hell else you are talking about because it seems irrelevant.

If only Christian people could get married legally by the government, you'd have a great argument. But atheists and non-Christians can too. Where's your outrage over that?

  • LOL can't believe these comments.

Bigotry is bigotry, idgaf if it's ~in your religion~ or not.

Any school, private or no, that makes their students feel this way is fucking terrible.

  • @SophieDefriend Nothing Burks said was bigoted in anyway. The most that these students "felt" was being scared of being kicked out. And again, you've never been to Harding so you are in no position to judge how the university is.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 LOL keep living in denial. I'm not going to make excuses for prejudice and bigotry. I know what goes down in super fundamentalist universities. There are no ~good intentions~ towards gay Christians there.

  • @SophieDefriend I don't have to live in denial. I went to school there and know what goes on. I'm guessing you don't, so your opinion is moot.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 Nope, sorry, I can still judge your atrocious university for subscribing to some kind of dogma that treats homesexuals as deviants. If you are honestly defending this type of rhetoric and shitty treatment of gay people on the grounds that IT'S MY SCHOOL~ then you are fucking sad.

  • @SophieDefriend I also notice that you don't refute that there aren't good intentions towards gay students, just that I can't judge cause I ~didnt' go there~. So tell me, do they treat their students right? Or do they shame them and tell them they are deviants for being who they are?

  • @SophieDefriend As far as I know they treat gay students right. This perception that they instantly get kicked out is wrong. There is counceling for gay people there. What goes on in said counceling I don't know. But I know of only one gay person getting kicked out and that was because he tried to assault his roommate.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 No one said they get kicked out. This ~counseling~ they give their gay students is to TURN THEM STRAIGHT. They shame them into thinking something is wrong with them. That is a fucking terrible thing for a school to do. If you don't know what goes on or what happens to the gay kids at the university, maybe you should LISTEN to them. That's what the magazine was for.

  • @SophieDefriend It's a Christian school that teaching correctly what the Bible teaches on homosexuality. And it is perverse, no matter how you spin it, it is an unnatural act. And I have listened to a couple of gay students at Harding, what part of that don't you understand?

  • @KingofDiamonds85 "It is perverse, no matter how you spin it"

    That right there.

And you say you aren't bigoted or preaching prejudice.

As long as that exact mindset is in that school, it is BIGOTED. I don't know how much clear cut it can get. Like I said, I DON'T CARE IF IT'S ~BIBLICAL TEACHINGS~ or not. Bigotry is bigotry. You will be left behind in the dust.

  • @SophieDefriend I'm not preaching for people to go out and kill gay people or badger them in anyway. BUt you avoided the point, you can't provide one single shred of evidence of how it is an natural act.

Fine, call it what you want, it doesn't change facts about what does and doesn't go on at Harding. You are making a generalization on a 4 min. Youtube video which is pathetic.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 You're not killing them but you are ruining lives if you tell kids they are unnatural and sinful and all that crap. That seriously fucks up a person's mind and if you think it's okay to tell someone that who they are is wrong, YOU are the one that is unnatural.

I'm not here to argue about homosexuality. That's your own fucked up thinking. My point was that the school treats their gay students horribly, and that's unacceptable, even if it's based on ~god~. Bigotry is bigotry.

  • @SophieDefriend Seriously, how am I ruining their lives? If someone loved taking drugs that would kill them, would you not tell them? Same instance here. And really, people have told me they don't like things that I do and I'm not messed up in the head. That is a gross exaggeration if I heard one. Again, you have ZERO proof of how Harding treats gay people, get a clue. I'm still waiting for you to correct my thinking by showing me how homosexuality is natural.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 OMG did you seriously just make the analogy of being gay = taking drugs? Lmao, that's seriously all I need to know. That really shows just how much you think of gay people. You digust me.

My proof is the whole of society treating gay people like something is wrong with them - your version of your religion being a driving force. Go pray to God about the gays, but don't you dare try to act like you're tolerant of them.

  • @SophieDefriend Yes, I did. Biblically living a homosexual lifestyle is killing yourself. The Bible is clear on this. You have a very narrow-minded view of the act that you can't see how harmful it is or even answer a simple question about it. There is something wrong with gay people, but that doesn't mean I can't love them. And you still haven't shown me how it is natural which is proof that you are blinded by ignorance on the subject. I don't tolerate them, but I can love them.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 LOLOL okay. I'm just gonna be over here embracing people for who they are and fighting against your hatred. If I prayed, I would pray that you would become more tolerant and ACTUALLY love people instead of trying to change them or preach to them when they are literally just LOVING other people. But because they aren't loving other people LIKE YOU WANT TO or your screwed up version of how you THINK God wants them to. Sad. Welcome to 2011, buddy. Have fun in your biblical time.

  • @SophieDefriend My hatred? You seem to be the one who hates people, particularly Christians. I love everybody, but that doesn't mean I love everything they do. If you embrace people for who they are no matter what then you are the worst kind of person in the world. If I was drinking myself to death, I would hope someone would love me enough to try and stop me not "embrace who I am" and let me die. Tolerance is stupid! It only works one way. If you were tolerant then you would tolerate that the

  • @SophieDefriend cont.: Bible is against homosexuality and so are Christians. But you are not. What's better is love and respect. I respect the man, who was created in God's image, and I love him enough to try to help them overcome a perversion that will eventually kill them. Your sense of love is a perversion, you are talking about a sexual love that is completely unnatural adn you still haven't proven that it is natural. Welcome to 2011 where the Bible is timeless, and your beliefs are sad.

  • @KingofDiamonds85 You do know that there are many Christians who don't believe God condemns homosexuality? Nothing is absolute when it comes to the Bible; it is ALL interpretation. Again, you are digusting for believing that homsexuality is a "perversion" and will "kill people". Bi-go-try. It's clear that you want everyone to live by your religion, which is really the sad thing. This is America, and America is not a theocracy. You have a right to follow a religion, but not when it hurts others.
