Kelly Clarkson's version is wayyy better lol m sorry! Kelly has vocals, talent and emotion while carrie only has vocals (that r not close to KC since Kelly can sing on a higher key) and Kelly's range is a lot better carrie's voice gets nasally when she trys to hit the high notes!

Just heard both versions & .. people have their own opinions but .. Kelly definitely owned that song. She has soul, depth, emotion in her voice. This song is definitely to big for Carrie. Sure it was given to her first but doesn't matter. Kelly should definitely record this for a bonus track or something I don't know. I just NEED a studio version of this song by Kelly.

I couldnt even listen to Carries full version.. Everytime she got to the chorus she gave me a headache trying to scream.

Carrie's vocals are effortlessly powerful in this song. She doesn't need to scream or add too much melisma and twirling around notes to bring out the emotion. The phrasing and impeccable breath control conveyed such powerful emotion, subtle but clear. A mix of despair but then a sense of strength towards the climax and end. Such a mix of emotion and character Carrie brings to this song. Carrie tops all, no doubt about it.

Yes Carrie's version is in fact powerful. But it is powerful in a sense that she had a lot of range. Kelly's was powerful in a different way. Kelly had so much emotion and acting and you feel her lyrics coming to life. And she seems like she was about to burst in tears. Carrie's is great as well but too controlled and precise.

HOW can people think Kelly's version is better? If I saw her sing it live I wouldn't care to hear her sing it live again. When I witnessed Carrie sing this live it became my favorite song she has ever recorded. Her performance of this song is moving and flawless. @carshe209 i'll take this. First, it's Carrie's Song so NOBODY can sing it "better." If you're too dumb to realize this Carrie doesn't sing any covers that she does "better" than the original. Whoever sings it first sings it the BEST. Second, Kelly messes up the words, isn't ANYWHERE as pretty, and can't switch from chest to throat voice very well. She goes from chest to raspy which comes out like crap. Third, Carrie can hold WAY bigger notes without screaming, and longer than Kelly. Thanks, bye
