  • Ok now perhaps I am just confusing myself ...but how could I use my Cyclone with sy a Kurzweil K2000 or my Roland GR-33 Guitar synth.

Wouldn't I set up some kind of MIDI feedback loop going MIDI out to the Cyclone and back into the MIDI in on the synth?

  • @mrbeautiful999, No feedback, use a direct signal path: controller's MIDI output > Cyclone > sound module's MIDI input.

  • this is the core of electronic music.

  • sounds kinda like VNV

  • As always a great video, love arpeggiators! I have a Roland R70 drum machine (midi) and a Juno 106, would I be able to use this to arpeggiate the juno 106, in sync with the R 70? I have the urge to buy one!

  • @grauzone84 YUES

  • I was wondering is this the same unit as the Oberheim Perf/x Drummer?? I was looking into buying one, however the pictures and the names are slightly different..I was thinking maybe there are different sound cartridges or something..*shrugs* This thing is suuuuper dope but I'm really curious if there's one out there w/ a drumming purpose like the one I found on craigslist describes.. Please advise.. lol

  • @riddickulous84 The only difference between the Cyclone and the Drummer (and the Strummer and the Systemizer...) is the EPROM chip and the printed control overlay-you can swap EPROMS and change their behaviour.

  • Wow great, do you think it's work with a dx7 ? or there is software with midi out ?

    Thx

  • @camillerrrr

it works with any synth with midi

  • @retrosound72 Ok thanks ;)

  • Very Miami vice.

  • NICE STUFF !!!

Any software alternatives for an arpeggiator controlling vsti in a host program like cubase ??? would love to know...

    thanks

  • @therealdoron project5!

  • hey this is very clever apparatus :) would be needin 2-4 of these for my Midi synths that doesn´t boast an arpeggiator ; the Roland JX10, Casio CZ5000, Korg 01/WFd & Kurzweil K2000 v3.. don´t get it why some ppl still say that arpeggiators are silly & useless things.. well, don´t think so ;)

  • Hello, what software version pops up in the display right when you turn this on? 1.0? 1.1? 1.2? 2.0? Thanks in advance.

  • @jasoncreek

    1.2

  • Fantastic little box.

These came out when nobody was really into arpeggiators anymore, because in 1988 everyone had an Atari. The last synthesizer to use an arpeggiator was the Prophet-VS I think. I remember there were two other Oberheim boxes of the same make, one called the Strummer and the other had master keyboard functions.

That Matrix 1000 sound is great.

  • Check out:

    "808 State - Nimbus"

They used an Oberheim cyclone on Nimbus.

  • thx for the info

  • hi retrosound thanks for post. Is these arpeggios midi clock syncable?

  • yes

  • I don't like the design of this arpeggiator; there's a lot of "bad" space and little controls. But very useful!!

  • Very nice indeed.

  • thx :)

  • love it

  • Have you heard of the Zyklus sequencer ?

  • yes

    posted sometimes on matrixsynth

  • whoa,u smashed that one wide open. id like to say that watching all of your videos is helping me to understand keywork and synthesis much much more.

    all the best -billy

  • this is the message!

    thank you billy :)

  • a pleasure as always

  • Can the Cyclone be used as an analog sequencer in real time?

  • You can only change the arpeggio types in real times

  • Thank you!!!

  • Yo Retro ^^

Only this tiny box can make arpegges and drive other synths ? Seems not easy to control.

    Nice demo ^^

  • Hi!

Yes this little box can make outstanding polyrhythm arpeggios but yes not easy to program.

    thank you :)

  • Sounds awesome! You should make a video with an accompanying drum machine.

  • yes

    thanks :)

  • I have one that just stopped powering up. Does any one have the service manual or know where it can be found? Help!

  • Nice demo :)

This is an interesting little machine.

  • thx :)

  • Super sounds, super Kiste !!

  • geil!!!!!

  • Well done one time again mister Retro Sound ;), it's only a midi or cv/gate too ?

  • only Midi

    thanks :)

  • Wow! what a cool little machine marco, a very simple but effective tool....

  • yes

this tool is fantastic but not easy to program

    have a nice weekend mick.

  • sounds like The Knife. sick!

  • Cyclone = Hammergeil

Ich hoffe da kommt noch mehr von.

    5 Sterne deluxe

  • dankeschön :)

  • Where do you buy all your stuff?

    Your videos are amazing :D

  • Absolut der Hammer. Ich bin echt neidisch, was für tolle Geräte du hast. Ich kriege garnicht genug davon. Als riesen Jean Michel Jarre Fan bin ich nun auch ein Fan von dir. Wo bekommst du das alles her? Wunderbar !

  • dankeschön :)

freut mich wenn es dir gefallen hat

  • This is really nice, by ROM do you mean its playing factory recorded samples ?

  • wonderfull! Want to see it in action in your next track ;-)

  • And now you can all that in software. Nothing matches the nearly instant-on and personality of hardware, just commenting about the math and programming behind it.

  • wow...

  • Interessant! So lernt man mal die verschiedenen Arpeggio-Arten kennen.

  • genau :)

und das ist das erste Video über den Cyclone überhaupt

    danke dir

  • Very cool! I have never seen those before. How much do those run these days? Are they hard to find? Total Midnight Express/Vangelis!

  • I have search two years for this great tool. Very rare and hard to find.

    thanks

  • Auto-Record is how the arpeggiator works on the Korg DW-8000.

  • was für eine tolle Kiste...!

  • das ist sie wirklich! :)

  • this i sgreat ! i bought it in 1992.... a magic machine for me...

  • absolute !

  • what a nice bass !

  • Brilliant stuff

  • thx :)

  • Sounds very 80s. Brings stuff like the Miami Vice theme into my mind.

  • the Matrix-1000 is perfect for bass sounds...

    thanks :)

  • Heheh, 'sounds very VNV Nation.

    I like it. :)
