Chatting with someone you don't know is not only a social experience but you are meeting new people. How do you think people meet each other in the real world? Seriously I don't think you know what your on about.

Lets call it two different sections, and also two of them have different type of interacting:

On a chat, it can take you 5 minutes to reply, but the conversation is still going.

On a live one-on-one interaction you cant think deeply on what you want to say, you also cant use the typical chat-talk references. (lawl, lol, 1337, etc..)

You cant say both of this sections are the same, they are social interactions, but not at the same value.

And I wasn't talking about chat who chats whilst playing games now days you chat using a mic, not text. I've met lots of people online 2 of which I consider best friends, I chat to them regularly and the 3 of all hope to meet up one day.

Now meeting someone in RL obviously is completely different to a talking to them online but that doesn't mean it's worst, it's just another way to communicate.

Don't be so cynical, it's not all that bad.
