Yes, those of us who investigated the issue read/heard snippets of information regarding the creative clash with the label post-merger, but even then I doubt we fully grasped the magnitude of it. Oh I completely agree. My sister's been a fan since '97, but she's seven years older than me. Then when I was around eleven or so, I heard "If Only," and even though I'd never given Hanson a second thought before, I fell in love with that song. I sort of forgot about them, though. Watching this documentary has really made me respect Hanson in a way I never have before. They are true musicians who have a passion for continuing to perfect their art. Unfortunately, this type of music would never work in today's mainstream scene where the biggest "artists" are either media crossover sellouts like Miley Cyrus, or the endless roster of those making club music.

The sad thing is that the music industry is slowly killing extremely talented musicians who are stiving to evolve their music in almost every genre. For example take Thrice (who removed themselves from Island) and Thursday (Island Records as well). Both these bands are extremely fan-based with a huge cult following in the indie scene, and very talented but because they weren't producing sell-out radio rock, Island wanted to drop them.

hmmm...dude theres no need to beg at the door of old school record companies...you dont need them to promote or distribute...basically they are just a tool for touring...my band gave up on "radio" , which does indeed suck...if anyone wants to hear us we are right here on youtube, just click on my name and youll go to our page =)
