everyone has their taste. looks like it was destroyed but thats just my opinion. i always wonder when someone does this: wdont you just buy a new car if you want a modern motor brakes suspension etc etc.
i bought a 28 dodge like this off craigslist for $3000 its all complete just been sitting for the past 40 years , i wont to restore it but i cant find parts any ideas or website help i would really appreciate it
@bamcalpoly Good luck finding parts for it !! IMHO, it's not worth restoring. It will cost you 40k to restore it, but will only be worth 20K when done. It doesn't make financial sense !!
Even if you do restore it, it will be a useless car, that can't be driven long distances, or on todays higways.
You ruined it. If you were going to change it that much, you might as well have started from scratch or from a kit. Small block Chevy?! Really? Couldn't have at least kept it in the family and used a 318/360, or better yet a Slant Six? I am disappoint.
@minustrouserpants A small block Chevy?? You sir, are a fool !! A 3 year old can see that it's a small block Dodge !! Before you post trash about others, at least make educated comments !
Yeah I feel the same way about hot rods. Too many people do the same thing because it's easy and obviously everyone is gonna like it but that isn't what it's all about. That's why I bought an 84 dodge for my first truck. It was the only one that I had seen around me and everyone knew who it was pulling into the school parking lot.
I love how you shortened the car. It made it look kinda like a Ford but it's what you wanted to do and I can respect the workmanship of it. You did what you wanted and that's what building a hot rod is all about. Some people might not like it but preserving an old car like this is for those that don't plan to drive the thing anywhere, they just want it to sit in the garage and be some kinda eye candy.
@TheCrazyphysco Thanks for the comment ! I wanted to build a one of a kind car because I got tired of seeing 32 Fords with 350 chev engines. It's nice to be able to go to an event with 7000+ custom cars, and be guaranteed that there won't be another one remotely close.
@dantech1 I suppose what got me last night was when the vid started I saw this beautiful old car just needing an 'oily rag restoration' , then you cut it up!!! I appreciate the quality of the workmanship and I might have done something like this twentyfive years ago, but I've outgrown the custom car, race car, restored to factory car mindset and I'm now a preservationist. Anyone with money or skill can quickly remove all the history from a vehicle with a sand blaster, but can you put it back??
@innleadair I've done the custom car, race car, and restored car also !! As far as returning my car to what it was, that would be the last thing I would want to do. If I restored this car back to original, it would cost way more than what the car would be worth when done. Another problem with original cars is that they cant be driven very far, or at any speed and are unsafe. I live in Canada, not the UK !! Here, everything is at least 150 miles apart. Try driving that distance in an original !!!
@dantech1 IMHO restoration always cost more than the car is worth... my business is vintage vehicles, so I've got an idea what it costs.
Distance in old vehicles? Well, I know what you're saying. I'm from Scotland so unlike the rest of the UK, events tend to be far away. We do one event every autumn with WW2 vehicles which is 175miles each way from here, through Glen Coe and up to Achnacarry. Not the best time of year for open vehicles, but wrap up warm and it's a giggle :o)
I appreciate your work and effort, but here in the UK you would probably restore as per factory. I have just bought a 1934 Dainler, with coachbuilt body of aluminum on an ash frame. Its gonna stay basically as it was designed. To each their own, I guess. Anyway, at least you saved the car from rusting further.
I am a UK citizen, I enjoy seeing restorods? Over here now, we are seeing a number of vehicles that have been rescued from the scrap yard, to far gone to be restored that is if anybody had the inclination in the first place. All the underpinnings are being replaced with modern equipment, Ifs, irs higher performance engines etc., The body is left as is, it then is labelled a rat rod with rust and patina on show. However if the body is restored, it is a restorod, my current project is a Volvo .
@Tonyshortshanks Here in Canada, we also have the "Ratrod" guys building these weird contraptions. I love seeing these cars, and the thought that has gone into them. I think it's a lot easier to paint a car than to apply the patina. I wouldn't even know where to begin !!
It is fantastic work and your talents are numerous. But it is sad to lose a piece of history to the torch at the same time. I am not European I fall on the side of keeping a vehicle's historic integrity- try not to be ethnocentric.
@BJChochole My point was that auto enthusiasts outside of North America view their cars differently. There's no right or wrong !! I get tired of outsiders' rude comments because they don't like what was done to my car. If I had not built this car, it would have ended up as scrap metal. To me, a restored original is about the most useless, unsafe vehicle to have that can't be driven any long distance.
@dantech1 You raise a valid point re the safety of many older cars, while many scream in horror at the thought of change, I have heard suggestion that older vehicles if they are to be used on the road need to have braking etc that at least doesn't render them a risk to other road users. Couple of tons of old tin and cable brakes at 50mph trying to stop... and that emergency will happen at some time. Shows one thing and to get out there with other road users a whole different situation.
@dantech1 well see i dont have any vids up cuz i dont really have money to do much to my cars besides clean em up but if you would like i can try to upload some vids of my 1949 studebaker and my '49 chevy 3600 both need major restoration but it will be fun.
The great thing about a hand built hot rod it that you can have it just how you want it. Time will tell if it has value to others. Your skills and tallent are wonderfull.
@toadabc Thanks for your comment !! I enjoyed building the car 5 years ago, and I continue to enjoy the car today. As far as value, the car owes me nothing. I have no plans to part with it, and actually I hope (in time) the car outlasts me. When the time comes and it has to find a new owner, I'm sure someone out there will see it's value.
With all thou respect sir, you are one of the greatest twits walking around of the face of the earth. What kind of IDIOT would take a complete 1928 car and chop it to pieces like that? You are not a '50s teddy boy! If you made it out of parts that were beyond anyway it would be cool but this... Its a disgrace.
The work is beautiful, but you unfortunately dated this resto... and it looks too trendy. There will come a time (very shortly) when "slammed" cars will be like the big hair of the 80's. Consider how Chip Foose does a car and you'll see what I mean. 30 years down the road those cars will still look relevant and clean.
@alltruenews I'm sorry, but I disagree !! Red will always be "IN", as well as the rims and interior.
The car is slammed because it has air ride. When driving, it's no higher or lower than any other car. I agree some trends in the past a have dated a car ( i.e. tweed interiors, teal paint jobs, etc..)
I built this car 6 years ago, and it's still the style built today. Maybe in 20 years some parts of the car will be dated, but by then it will be time to redo the car anyway !!
@rpeek Thank-you !! It's been a great car, and it now has over 16000 miles on it.
People seem to like it, because it usually wins at car shows. It was the centerfold car in Street Rodder magazine, as well as on Car Crazy with Barry Meguiar. Unfortunately the full interview was not aired, and only a small shot was featured.
WOW!......... What fantastic work you did on the 28 Dodge. Great vid from beginning to the end. I only wish I could've seen and heard the finished product run live. Thanx so much for posting this.....from one who appreciates your hard work and love of cars.....thanx! again!
WOW, beatiful job man! I know where one Exactly like this is standing in a shed abandoned in a forest! Guess! if i got the itch to fetch it after i saw this! Extremly good job!!!! I hope u take good care of it
Then why drop the thing to the point that you are mismatching the rim diameter to the radius of the wheel opening to take the picture? The small sidewalls are allowing this distortion. Why drop it to park it at all? That's like putting an air jack under a drag car and posing a twisting wheel stand whenever you park it. Nice car but I think as time goes on and the fad wears you'll be get past this very quickly. No offense meant. Just an observation. I don't believe in insult forums.
Small sidewalls ?? Those rear tires are almost 30" tall !! The car is equiped with air ride, therefore ride height is 3 inches higher than the pictures.
Thats a beautiful car!!! I am wanting to build a 1930's Chevy pickup and it's really cool to see the whole process in a cool little slide like that! By the way, who sings that song and what is it called? That was pretty cool music!
Nice car and good work, you need some skills to put a thing like this together. It shows not only Ford make goodlooking HotRods.

@MrNohab I'm enjoying my "destroyed" car. I notice that all the negative comments are from foreigners. Here in North America we enjoy street rods.
If you think investing $25000 into restoring an old car back to original , to end up with a car that is only worth $15000, then you're a fool !!
Putting $25000 into a car and then making it worth $50000 makes more sense to me !!
