@9705CHRIS when you think of the ford gt don't think acceleration think top speed. It is geared really high that's why it wins super car, 500 mile races with a v8 when almost every other car has a v10 or v12.
I like all fast cars and i own a c6 zo6 and it is beast i don t care about the interior i just like the power so it s funny when i see people talking about the car like it s slow an i really like when people put videos of the zo6 with a proper driver smacking a 120k plus car showing the world of youtube that it is just a monster
@williamtricia81 If i drive for an hour in a day, i will see around 2 zo6s. I might see a Ford GT once every 2 months if im lucky. The 30k'ish price difference is more about the rarity of the car than it is the performance. A ford GT gets you a blowjob, a corvette is a corvette.
@Vague33 If you find a Ford GT for "30ish" over the price of a Z06, please let me know and I will take two. Current prices for a GT are over $250K, and rightfully so, they quit making them in 2006. Initially, the Ford GT sold for something like $165K and you could get a well equipped Z06 for $80K or so, and it would put a super whipping on the GT.
@Vague33 The only reason you don't see the ford gt is because of the price if it was the price of the corvette you will see more but the point is the corvette looks good and for the power you won't find a better deal an depends on your location i don't believe you'll see 2 c6 zo6s you might see two regular corvettes but not the c6 zo6

@xJTF2x Right...the Ford GT would make a great drag strip car with 59% of it's weight on the rear wheels, but not a very good "sports car". The Vette stops better, corners with more G force and at least equals or beats every performance measurement between the two. To prove it, look for the Nurburgring lap time records and you will see one Ford GT that ran more than 14 seconds slower than the fastest ZR1. That's a lifetime on that track. Oh, and by the way, the GT isn't built by FOMOCO! Kit car?
@ParisTNDude The Ford GT is a sports car in just about every way, and looking at the Nurburgring times I saw there were like five Corvettes with slower times than the GT. A ZR1 had a better time yes, but I bet they could get much better times if they ran the GT around the track a bunch of times too, instead of the one recorded time. So I don't see the Nurburgring as the holy grail of performance proof in this case. And the GT is certainly not a kit car, Ford only made them from 2005-2006.

The body was then painted by Saleen at their Saleen Special Vehicles facility in Troy, Michigan. The engine was built at Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant. Installation of the engine and manual transmission along with interior finishing was handled in the SVT building at Ford’s Wixom, Michigan plant. I'm not pasting a million references, these are the facts. Look it up for yourself.
@xJTF2x Thanks for confirming what I said, it's basically not a Ford car. It's farmed out to 3 different companies with mostly non-Ford components. The basic Ford GT was manufactured by Mayflower vechicle systems, painted by Saleen another non-Ford co and painted by SVT. I don't think you can call that a Ford built car. Chapparal years back used Chevy components, but they weren't Chevys. Ford does the same with the Focus and Fusions which are really Mazda 3 and 6 cars with Ford input.

You were suggesting this is a kit car, which it obviously isn't. Its a Ford car, regardless of who they paid to paint it or make the bodies. If you want to use this argument then you might as well say no car is truly made by that company. The Camaro is built right here in Canada, does that mean its not an American car?
@xJTF2x Well, technically, the GT40 wasn't designed by Ford Motor Company at all. Look up the history on this car and you'll find it was totally designed in England. Ford didn't even own the Copyright to the name GT40. When Ford wanted to build another replica GT40 the owner of the Copyright wanted millions and Ford wouldn't pay and thus, the name Ford GT. The plant that builds the Camaro is a GM owned company and is not a good comparison to the GT. The basic GT components were not Ford made.

Maybe it wasn't the best comparison, but I think you know what I'm getting at. I know the GT40 was designed in England, by a team completely put together by Ford, and contained Ford engineers. But in reality the GT shares nothing in common with the GT40 other than its appearance. Ford originally owned everything GT40, but they sold those rights.
Yes the GT is faster, but when you look at the price? You can find a C6 Z06 for 60k and the GT cost 140k+...I'll take the Z06 put about 10k into it and KILL the GT by several car lengths and keep the extra 70k!

@FordGTMaster well, I have a 2008 Z06 and I don't know what world you live in but in the real world (where price plays a factor) the Z06 is the clear winner. I can only speak for me, but I'm not paying 140K+ for something thats comparable to a sports car like the Z06 (some supercar!) when I can have the Z06 and put about 10k in it and murder the Z06, hell, put in 40k and it beat a Bugatti (a 1.9M car) all for less than 100k. Bottomline, if someone buys a GT they are clear Ford fanboys.

You should since you drag race. Timeslips confirm the speed you ran and whether on not you ran stock or tuned. On those timeslips, it showed multipleGTs running on different tiems with different drivers running 11s, thus proving the GTs speed over the ZR1.

You can get a LSX 440 stroker (like the one I have in my 'vette) and put 500+ to the rear wheels while still maintaining daily drivability and without using power adders like spray, turbos or blowers. If someone wants mega N/A power they can go all out and stroke it to the max which is 511 CID and running around 650-700 to the ground and still have room for spray or forced induction. Bottomline; the GT isn't worth 140k based on numbers.

@philthyco If it all comes down to the driver, why havent we've seen 1 ZR1 do 11.0 STOCK? Top speed does not go to the ZR1 as the ZR1 does 205 MPH while the GT does 212 mph. If you've seen the long strips that they test these cars on, the GT got 212 mph on the same track the ZR1 got 205 mph. I think they have the same acceleration as both do 0-60 in an amazing 3.3 seconds, but the GT has been known for catching up on cars.

@philthyco Just look at GT1000 vs ZR1. The GT has bad tires, bad driver, and bad take off and still catches up to the ZR1s 4-5 car lead quick. You can say its because of the HP but you also have to remember, the ZR1 weighs less. Plus, if you've seen GT vs ZR1, they are about 100MPH apart but the ZR1 weighs about 100-300kg less than the GT which is also a MAJOR factor. HP isnt everything. This proves the GT is known for its catch up speed which proves higher top speed.

I like mopar as well, but the problem with there new autos, aside from the Viper, is the fact that their pigs and sit very heavy. There's no way the challenger srt8 should b losing to the new stang. That made the public go crazy and everyone wanted one then, which in turn helped Ford put the price as high as they did and still be able to sell every car, which is why they built them an extra couple years. @Vague33 If you find a Ford GT for "30ish" over the price of a Z06, please let me know and I will take two. Current prices for a GT are over $250K, and rightfully so, they quit making them in 2006. Initially, the Ford GT sold for something like $165K and you could get a well equipped Z06 for $80K or so, and it would put a super whipping on the GT.

The Vette stops better, corners with more G force and at least equals or beats every performance measurement between the two. To prove it, look for the Nurburgring lap time records and you will see one Ford GT that ran more than 14 seconds slower than the fastest ZR1. That's a lifetime on that track. Oh, and by the way, the GT isn't built by FOMOCO! Kit car?

@ParisTNDude The Ford GT is a sports car in just about every way, and looking at the Nurburgring times I saw there were like five Corvettes with slower times than the GT. A ZR1 had a better time yes, but I bet they could get much better times if they ran the GT around the track a bunch of times too, instead of the one recorded time. So I don't see the Nurburgring as the holy grail of performance proof in this case. And the GT is certainly not a kit car, Ford only made them from 2005-2006.

The body was then painted by Saleen at their Saleen Special Vehicles facility in Troy, Michigan. The engine was built at Ford’s Romeo Engine Plant. Installation of the engine and manual transmission along with interior finishing was handled in the SVT building at Ford’s Wixom, Michigan plant. I'm not pasting a million references, these are the facts. Look it up for yourself.

@xJTF2x Thanks for confirming what I said, it's basically not a Ford car. It's farmed out to 3 different companies with mostly non-Ford components. The basic Ford GT was manufactured by Mayflower vechicle systems, painted by Saleen another non-Ford co and painted by SVT. I don't think you can call that a Ford built car. Chapparal years back used Chevy components, but they weren't Chevys. Ford does the same with the Focus and Fusions which are really Mazda 3 and 6 cars with Ford input.

@xJTF2x Well, technically, the GT40 wasn't designed by Ford Motor Company at all. Look up the history on this car and you'll find it was totally designed in England. Ford didn't even own the Copyright to the name GT40. When Ford wanted to build another replica GT40 the owner of the Copyright wanted millions and Ford wouldn't pay and thus, the name Ford GT. The plant that builds the Camaro is a GM owned company and is not a good comparison to the GT. The basic GT components were not Ford made.

Maybe it wasn't the best comparison, but I think you know what I'm getting at. I know the GT40 was designed in England, by a team completely put together by Ford, and contained Ford engineers. But in reality the GT shares nothing in common with the GT40 other than its appearance. Ford originally owned everything GT40, but they sold those rights.

@FordGTMaster well, I have a 2008 Z06 and I don't know what world you live in but in the real world (where price plays a factor) the Z06 is the clear winner. I can only speak for me, but I'm not paying 140K+ for something thats comparable to a sports car like the Z06 (some supercar!) when I can have the Z06 and put about 10k in it and murder the Z06, hell, put in 40k and it beat a Bugatti (a 1.9M car) all for less than 100k. Bottomline, if someone buys a GT they are clear Ford fanboys.

You should since you drag race. Timeslips confirm the speed you ran and whether on not you ran stock or tuned. On those timeslips, it showed multipleGTs running on different tiems with different drivers running 11s, thus proving the GTs speed over the ZR1.

@FordGTMaster because of the highly modifiable LS engine. You can get a LSX 440 stroker (like the one I have in my 'vette) and put 500+ to the rear wheels while still maintaining daily drivability and without using power adders like spray, turbos or blowers. If someone wants mega N/A power they can go all out and stroke it to the max which is 511 CID and running around 650-700 to the ground and still have room for spray or forced induction. Bottomline; the GT isn't worth 140k based on numbers.

@philthyco If it all comes down to the driver, why havent we've seen 1 ZR1 do 11.0 STOCK? Top speed does not go to the ZR1 as the ZR1 does 205 MPH while the GT does 212 mph. If you've seen the long strips that they test these cars on, the GT got 212 mph on the same track the ZR1 got 205 mph. I think they have the same acceleration as both do 0-60 in an amazing 3.3 seconds, but the GT has been known for catching up on cars.

@philthyco Just look at GT1000 vs ZR1. The GT has bad tires, bad driver, and bad take off and still catches up to the ZR1s 4-5 car lead quick. You can say its because of the HP but you also have to remember, the ZR1 weighs less. Plus, if you've seen GT vs ZR1, they are about 100MPH apart but the ZR1 weighs about 100-300kg less than the GT which is also a MAJOR factor. HP isnt everything. This proves the GT is known for its catch up speed which proves higher top speed.

@iPROFITDON well the vette weighs in at 3190 and the GT at around 3400. So a little over 200lbs. I don't think that makes up for the 45 hp 40lbs deficit. The vette is clearly just a dominant machine to overcome substantial deficit and still win. I like mopar as well, but the problem with there new autos, aside from the Viper, is the fact that their pigs and sit very heavy. There's no way the challenger srt8 should b losing to the new stang. That's my opinion

Ford Motor Company is in the business of producing products that sell in order to make a profit (that is their plan). Discontinuing the profitable Ford GT was a questionable business decision by Ford and a general disappointment for consumers.

@barnetr2 No but the owners can. And Ford came right out and said they were only doing two or three years of the car. That made the public go crazy and everyone wanted one then, which in turn helped Ford put the price as high as they did and still be able to sell every car, which is why they built them an extra couple years. Now if they bring it back in 5 or ten years, the public will still be interested and pay almost anything. Plus it was a good learning curve in there performance division.
