Thank you so much for posting these videos on here - was struggling so much with an anthropology essay until I found these films. It all seems so much easier now. Thank you!!! :D
Dear Prof. Macfarlane, how wonderful it is that you have put this whole series of videos on Anthropology, Social, Political and Global. Your lectures on the origins of the modern world has been most stimulating. In a way, it is the most fundamental part of any education, how exactly our world came to be. After all the formal work in mathematics, systems and AI, it is uncanny how your lectures had a "completing" effect on me. Thank you for your efforts, how could one ever compensate you for this!
this is the kind of crap by the kind of weaklings that took a country that ruled the world and turned it into a country so pathetically weak that they import their enemies who openly declare their goal at annihilating them and breed them on welfare
How very astute of you. Truly, celebrating efforts to understand another culture on its own terms can only ever be an expression of our own society's decadence.
@palotin07 "understand another culture on its own terms" another way of exalting moral and cultural relativism. The hallmark of the kind of cowardice and weakness that infused the upper classes of England and led to it's downfall. The decent into utter stupidity that makes a people forget what got them where they are. To the worthless offspring of the spoiled classes a mud hut is as big an accomplishment as a jet engine or computer, but only to those so spoiled they are dead inside.
I am honoured to have sat on a cushion which once belonged to Evans- Pritchard. I also have the honour to know a now elderly former student of Evans- Pritchard.
This programme has done exactly what it should do, it has prompted me to go to the works of Evans- Pritchard, starting with (only because it is the only one I have) his 'Social Anthropology' (1951).
