@sagendare I agree with you! Rita was/is still unique in her beauty. For many years she held the best title as winner of: A Tony, An Oscar, A Grammy, and An Emmy! A tiny beauty from a tinier town in Puerto Rico, she holds the crown! Thanks so much for having noticed, and your kind comment!
@sagendare Actually, Rita's recorded birth in Humacao, Puerto Rico, was 12/11/31. If "LL" was released in 1953 she'd have been 22. I think she was 21 because many movies are filmed in one year and released during the following. However it appears, she was just a baby at the time, but already packed a punch!
Talk about class and style! This is true dancing. Tell everyone you know to watch this. This is romance and sex combined with stylish footwork and grace. Thank for this post. Don't ever take it away.
@necktieguy1 These three were amazing, talented and very easy on the eyes. I'm glad you liked this, and hopefully it will remain for a long time. Thank you!

I wonder how many times I have now watched this. So beautiful....the dancing, the colors, the costuming, the subtle movements and the way Ricardo pulls Lana to him to tell her where he made his plans...every movement is so perfect and controlled. I am still overwhelmed by it.
Ok I watched this video like 50 times or more only because I cant stop looking at Ricardo. He was so good looking in this video. The way he talks, dances, his body movements, the way he wore his clothing (so sexy). Guys back then had so much class and looked so good. Gotta go, have to watch this video again and again and again.
@debbiechickie5 I had this big "soap-box" speech, and then just gave up. Though this was supposedly an upper-class Brazilian party, I miss the idea that people even "dressed-up" for an airline trip! Naturally First Class was all Chanel and Balenciaga, but Coach passengers were still dressed to "the nines!" As the kids say today, "Whatever!" Happy New Year!!
@Furball2k What a fascinating observation! For any one man to have danced with these 2 beauties, almost simultaneously, is kind of a miracle! He was indeed, possibly the most talented, and interesting man in the world! Your comment and observations are so apropos! Thanks again for your mention!
I stumbled upon this movie on TMC yesterday. There is a scene where RIcardo has his shirt off and he is BREATHTAKINGLY handsome! The man had the longest, yummiest arms! I wish guys would wear this look again, with pants at the natural waist. At 1:09 I love RIcardo's body language..very cool and almost "Yoyo bro, wassup?" > LOL. What a sexy man. And Lana looks like heaven in the entire movie- great outfits.
I LOVE BOTH ACTORS AND THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES AND EVERY TIME I LOOK AT THIS VIDEO , IT MAKES MY DAY , PEOPLE WERE VERY SOPHISTICATED AND WELL DRESSED AND LANA TURNER IS AN AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL WOMAN
@14magnolialovers Great to hear from you, and thanks! Given that this was a party one might understand that the guests were well-dressed. Given the entire movie, even during the daytime scenes, all the stars seemed to be beautifully attired. Sadly, it's been pretty much all downhill, sartorially speaking, since then. Once more, thanks for your comment!
I'd read that Lana Turner was a ballroom dancing enthusiast off-screen. NIce to see her get a chance to dance on-screen. Rita M. as well. And Ricardo M. is always welcome.
oh I totally agree! Rita Moreno stole the show dancing with Ricardo. Lana Turner looked oddly out of place. I enjoyed this video clip tho. well done! XXX
He spoke Portuguese with 'Cristina' and with the musicians. Do you know who are them? They remind me of the 'Bando da Lua' (Carmen Miranda's) but I am not sure.
Lana was a much more accomplished performer than she got credit for,I think, her personal life unfortunately overshadowed her work, but she really did some of her best work later, from "Peyton Place" on
Have to say Lana pretty much ruled back in the day! Still, gotta give "Baby-Rita" her well-deserved props! Anyone wanna guess her "waist?" Think we're talkin' 17-19" at max! You, GloveGirl, are brilliant! Also, most say Ricardo was so devoted to his wife! Thanks so much for your learned
I don't about that . But it is said that every one who worked with him said he was always warm and friendly to them, whether they were stars or behind the scenes. He was also said to be very professional and took each very seriously, giving it his all. Sigh! They don't make them like Don Ricardo anymore!
Besides, this movie's efforts are valid mainly because of dialogues in Portuguese (not all producers would take this into account). So, thanks for posting, varadero! And moshn2002, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
Well, I'm Brazilian and though knowing that sometimes Hollywood used to make some "mix-ups" involving Latin rhythms, this time it's correct for that's what samba cadenza was like THAT TIME in Brazil. One cannot demand the samba of then to be played as it has been done nowadays.
it doesn not look like anything remotely to do with the samba, but, it is cool anyway (let´s not even begin to mention the very fake backgrounds that reveal they were close to Sunset Boulevard than Copacabana Beach)...
It's a real shame(for you)that you can't seem to express yourself without being extremely rude. Your attempt at "correction" has failed & you've now made yourself look like a POMPOUS ASS.
It´s a real shmae that people can´t be humble when they commit mistakes and think that anyone who complaints about the the wrong stereotypes made by Hollywood are POMPOUS.
If a movie set in NEW YORK would shown a supposed Bronx charachter speaking in a Scot accent and a painted background that resembled Texas, hordes of folks would complaint...and they would have all the right in the globe to do so.
