I really believe that El needs to get back to his Xtian roots..i love his new album..but everything tells me he needs to totally surrender his gift to God. His sister and brother have realized it..maybe the struggle raging within him is beacuse, though he clearly loves God, he has not totally surrendered his gift,."There is a way that seem right to man.." He and his family..right back to his Uncles clearly have an annointing..even his Pops was a Christian but had demons he never dealt with.

El is out of prison as of 10/2009 and from the interview and upcoming projects lined up, i believe he's going to have a great year. He performed so well at a show, Brian requested for him to make an appearance on his acclaimed radio show in the evenings on Kiss FM He's doing great, he sounds amazing and is just as passionate and dedicated to his music as he ever was.

He never gave up on himself, no matter how severe the struggle, no matter what people have said or say. He's Just Fine.

DamitaJo, I caught the replay of Brian McKnight's interview of El Debarge. I was pleasantly surprised at how good El's voice sounded. I think he coud make a comeback.. I believe Maxwell's comeback was so successful because he came back looking and acting like a GROWN MAN. Grown women need to hear from Grown men in a positive and loving way. Hey Sis...Yes, wasnt it a great interview. He was honest about what he went thru and i believe that his comeback is on the verge as well. Girl i was almost in tears when he started singing "Someone" - just as clear and smooth as he is on his records! Brian McKnight sang so nice with him too...it was a sincere interview.

My fav song on Maxwells latest is "Bad Habits". Although after seeing him perform "Cold" live I started lovin' that too! He's an excellent performer. I've never seen El perform live, but if he can bring the "grown and sexy" like Max did, he won't have a problem with his comback. Have you ever seen RKelly live? I have a few times....interesting.

I love his voice. My only concern was that he really tried to tap into Marvin Gaye's spirit later in his career which brought the demons Marvin fought along with it. Things have been tough for El lately. I praying to see him restored. He still looks and sounds great through it all. There's recent video of him on the site.
