Not to take anything away from Eric Clapton, (how could I?), but I have never really liked Clapton's blues phrasing.
I prefer Arlen Roth's tasteful selection of subtle pauses and melodic riffs.

That is some of the most delicate, crisp, accurate playing I have ever seen. He makes everything count there, the notes he plays, the notes he doesn't play, the bends, the vibrato, the dynamics... everything!

Blown away. It's such simple stuff he's playing - scale wise - but it just goes to show how important the nuances are, the little half bends, the great work with the volume knob and such overall feel to his playing. Awesome.

I agree s1914, slow blues (especially minor) is all about space and inflection in the playing - Arlen is a master at it too..
