This video has been watched over 30,00 times (and not all me!) To celebrate I have bought a 5 disc box of Mott the Hoople albums, including 2 after Ian Humter had left and they used the name of Mott. I highly recommend it to all Mott the Hoople fans.
Always remember this tune as having huge differences between left and right channel as well as being a fab tune. In the abscence of a band video for the studio version, this more than makes up for it. Great homage to a great tune !!!!!!!
This reminds me when the 1957 Chevy was passed on to my sister to drive. Blue paint job, no power steering, 4door which took us all the way to Mil-wacky auditorium Mott thee hoop concert. With Jeff & Scott O , Mark Ames, sandy s, barb P, Kevin & Debbie d
One of Motts best songs, didnt get a lot of airplay, Much like Alice Coopers, You Drive Me Nervous. Too much good music back then to play it all. Thanks!
Just SICK! You're kidding, right? Shit! MOTT Drivin' Sister?!? I first heard this & 'Memphis' on 8-track 35 yrs ago, then had the lps, and now it's on UTube? Just Fucking SICK! Thanx for the fix!!!
Glad it bought back some memories for you. It is a great tune. I always thought it was kind of lost in amongst the other great songs on Mott. I guess you cannot go far wrong with a song about girls and cars! I will need to get my daughter to learn how to play it (see my other videos).
Cool video you have put together with "one of the most underated groups in bla, bla, bla".
I forgot how smooth this song was. From the opening drums you know it is something special. The "play" between the base and guitars. The piano and "interludes". Ian's snarl. The engine sounds. Superb production values. Everyone does their part to make it perfect.I saw them in 73 in Atlanta. Opened with this song. Very impressive. Opening act was some little group out of Boston called Aerosmith.
Thanks for the compliment. I guess this tune is kind of over-looked because there were so many obvious "singles" on Mott. The sound effects always add to a track for me. One thing is for sure, they sure knew how to pick their opening acts!
Saw him a couple of years ago too but somehow it just wasn't the same as seeing Mott the Hoople. This was filmed in Renfrewshire, Glasgow and my back garden. Hope you enjoyed it.
Mott the Hoople were the first band I ever went to see, although I suppose I saw the support act first. A little band called Queen! You're right - great album.

@STRATCAT101 Some of these Hot Wheels are originals I had as a boy from the late 60's. The rest are new. They are still some pretty cool designs.

I used to have a couple of those exact hot wheels!!!

I got most of the hot wheels which are in the close up shots this year. In the "tail back" some of them are over 30 years old. No rust either!
