  • i want my ZooTV....

  • Nice edit too!

  • nu,pause,of,hebje,sound,weleens,uit,in,bad,word,het,beter,verwerkt

  • Bellissima interpretazione ma preferisco la versione originale di Satellite of Love...! (di Lou Reed ovviamente)

  • Satellite's gone Up to the sky Things like that drive me Out of my mind I watched it for a little while I love to watch things on TV Satellite of love Satellite of love Satellite of love Satellite Satellite's gone Way up to Mars Soon it will be filled With parking cars I watched it for a little while I love to watch things on TV
  • I love the original and I love this. Any precious fans on here need to get over themselves. People shouldn't cover Lou Reed? C'mon, Lou didn't write this song for you did he? Just because you're a fan doesn't mean an artist's music belongs to you.

  • the original is way better

  • @musicismyfuckinlife noooooooo

  • @musicismyfuckinlife True, because U2 blows

  • oh those satellites, they can be helpful even heroic, but they might also turn into junk, please beware!

  • this is back when he still had a voice

  • @tereziaca

    what do you mean?

  • que putos se ven la verdad, pero son unos genios musicales

  • Bono's voice was never the same after Zoo Tv...

  • Just stumbled across this.....this is really bad. People should really not try to cover Lou Reed or the Velvet Underground....it doesn't work. Cover Dylan or Cohen not Lou Reed.

  • Actually U2, or rather Bono could recite the ABC's and I would love it !

  • This version may suck but you cant deny that Bono's voice was pretty fucking awesome back then

  • That was sweet and the images are fantastic.

  • What an OUTSTANDING cover of this song. I LOVE the shot of the girl hugging The Edge, too!! Thanks for posting this.

  • fucking U2, they really know how to destroy a great song, fucking U2....

  • Personal preference I think, love the U2 version. First heard it at live aid during Bad. Lou Reed sound like hes trying to sing and have a dump at the same time.

  • i was about to say this was great.. but then those high notes hit lol but i still like U2, they shouldnt have attempted this though:/

  • Awful version

  • yes i know Lou Reed was pre-recorded... I didnt know U2 played this song on every date of the tour..... I only seen 2 shows live and another two on DVD....

  • The best is when U2 did this song live on " The Outside Broadcast Tour In 92 " when Bono did a duet with Lou Reed with Lou Reed coming in and out of the screens on the stage.

  • @asusundevils1971 You know they did that every night?? :P Lou Reed was pre-recorded

  • @asusundevils1971 You're right... that was better than this recorded version...

  • the backup vocals are nothing compared to bowie's backup vocals on the original.

  • bravo!

  • fucking hell...this is awful...get me back to Lou Reeds version quick... FUCK OFF U2

  • I don't see this as a competition betwean lou reeds version and this one, more like an homage and paying respect to lou reed, since Bono (and i believe the rest of the bend) are a great fans of Lou. I like both versions, Lou's a bit more. But this one is awesome too.

  • U2 seems to ruin all music

  • pause,you,don,t,need,me,as,i,need,yoou

  • ugly version

    the original is much better!

  • I like this song, it has a unique feel to it, laid back but upbeat. I love the photos you've used, it reminds of the book Three Chords And The Truth which I used to own, it got stolen.

  • u2 version is much much better than boring Lou Reed, no disrespect brother

  • @garmambozja jajaja you are so funny man....

  • Epic guitar. The Edge is pure genius

  • @eldemasiado WUAHAHAHAHA! I like U2, but you've GOT to be kidding me! The Edge is NOT a guitar genious

  • @Herringish It's my opinion. Pure guitar genius is not the fastest player, but the one you recognize as soon as you hear him..

IMHO this happens only for few guitarists: The Edge, Dave Gilmour, Hendrix, Mark Knopfler, Van Halen, Slash..

Other players are surely fastest or showing more technical abilities but they are - at the same time - less peculiar..

  • @Herringish dude, just because youre deaf doesnt mean thaat edge is a guitar miracle, which he is. even if it just was because hes different than any other guitarist

  • @hellyfornication NO! Just no! Guitar legends are, Clapton, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifseon and Malmsteen. Not The Edge.

  • I agree - good version, Bono's voice is similar in tone to Lou's, but not as edgy and ragged, which is what makes Lou so great.

  • great videos, The cute pictures I´ve never seen before!

  • I love their version of the song to bits and Bonos voice is awesome <3

  • @LizzyLouFiftyTwo Aha yeah ... Well i rly dont care what you think .... Besides i never compared u2 and Lou ....

  • he says satellite so screeeeechy...that is the worst part

  • that picture of bono hugging the edge is so adorable. <3

  • The live version during the 1993 ZooTV tour (check the 1993 Live Registration) with the Lou Reed version on screen really rocked.

  • make sure you listen to 2:20 thru 3:45 before you judge this song!

  • u2 completely ruined this song, lou reed is god

  • @Pruneization they don't ruined it. they COVER it, when a band covers a song, it means the band loves the song and even the band who made the song. even if they 'ruin' the song... you can still show some respect, you bigg ass fagottt

  • @schietpaleis you could also show me respect too son

  • @Pruneization

    true.

  • u2 makes hearts feel warm :]

  • Pure and beautiful music...and the story goes on

  • There is nothing like U2. Agreed, Lou Reed is awesome, but this song by U2 shakes the soul.

  • Fucking shit!

  • 25 years ago today, this was the intro snippet to 'bad' at live aid. check it out. this isn't a bad song really, don't know it is being bashed. edge is spot on. what's really freaky is the d*mn picture show. kudos to you for putting this together. rock on.

  • way to ruin a song, bono you douchebag

  • me encanta esta version, tambien la de milla jovovich

  • Great cover :) Very emotive and kicks in towards the end...

  • its by lou reed right?

  • @TheYannickOne lou reed and david bowie

  • xD funny song this is, I like the pictures naha

U2 is my favourite for ever <3

  • Absolute crap version by U2 Bono give the planet a break you have covered so many original artist's and Jim Morrison you are not as Patti Smith told you quite a few year's ago.

  • @Gringotom well said Bono has become an A class wanker. He's even promoting the Conservative party in the UK. This man has no morals other than promote himself

  • @leonoel42 thats funny, when people "promote themselves" they usually will at least occasionally mention themselves, bono NEVER does. you can believe that he is promoting something politically that you think is wrong but what the hell does that have to do with promoting or furthering his career? Bono is pretty set as far as his millions of lifelong fans wouldnt you agree?

  • i'm a pretty big fan of bono's voice and i enjoy a lot of U2's music, but i've gotta be frank, this rendition completely sucks the sarcasm and dry humor out of the song, and that's what makes lou reed's music what it is. this is done well, but it just sounds like another old U2 song

  • this sucks

  • in confronto all'originale fa pena .-.

  • Song, smong. Great video of U2 pics.

  • not at all as good as the Ja, Panik version.

  • geiler Titel-----------

  • Desecration of the original.

  • this is better than lou reed's man. annie lennox was better than lou reed's version too.

  • is that kafka in the beginning?

  • crap

  • Not going to be able to add that punch Bowie did.

  • Much better than the live version, but still nowhere near Reed's best song.

  • U2 makes (or at least made) really great covers, don't they ? This one is so good, Everlasting Love is great too... The one they did for All Along the Watchtower wasn't that great and the one for Hallelujah really sucked, but otherweise they are a great band even in their covers.

  • Seriously. My name is Joshua Effin Tree, and this blows goats.

  • No kidding ?

You have the best name ever :D

  • magic.. great cover!

  • i like that cover, but the original is fantastic! (:

  • SONG RAPE!!!!!!!

  • Not bad at all, Definitely needs David Bowie singing the back-up like he did in Lou's version to hit those high notes at the end though. That's the kinda backing vocals that makes your spine tingle.

  • This song takes me back, i don't know how many of you farts are born in the 50s, but i wasn't around when Lou Reed was big hehe. (relax i'm teasing)...so for me, this is the first time I heard this song was the U2 version. LOVE IT.

  • WTF? oh my god, it sucks. with all the money they've got you'd think they could do better than this !!!!! i could do better myself. seriously boneyoh check me out if you dont believe me ; )

  • @eamonosu money doesn't necessarily make good music. Lil wayne proves this with every song he makes. haha

  • still dig this tune, the U2 version got me into listening to Lou Reed when i was a kid.

  • lou reed versions better

  • great version, but Lou Reed is the best

  • @superasamp hey bro check out velvet undergrounds version its pretty good.

  • @superasamp both good

  • @superasamp ....lou reed is great.. this is the best version. :)

  • meh, its okay. i like the original better

  • lou reeds version is good too...

  • its better

  • U2 wrote "Miami"

  • and The Playboy Mansion

  • I suppose it's O.K. for a band like U2 to put something like this on a B-side: not making it their main focus, but by its very inclusion, drawing attention towards the original artist.

An A-side would suggest they were trying to compete with Lou Reed, but a B-side is more like honouring the man -- or trying to, anyway.

    Just a thought.

(Not even sure if the musical world of today operates in A- and B-sides anymore.)

I hadn't heard this version before.

Not sure if I will again.

  • Milla Jojovich's version is better:

    watch?v=D-czfk23ovw

I think they're both from the 'Million Dollar Hotel' motion picture soundtrack

  • its an alright cover, wouldnt call it great it.

really dont like the chorus though

i much prefer the lou reed version

  • YOU SIR ARE A HUGE PIECE OF SHIT!

  • I was going for humor but you can tweak if you like idc.

  • lol, that episode was funny.

  • this sucks

  • Comment removed

  • bono sings it but lou reed puts his soul in it you probably don't even get what it's about

  • i googled Satellite Of Love and your right

  • So, I'd like to throat-punch every person involved with the cruel butchering of this awesome song.

  • you are a fucking moron!!!! Lou wishes he could sing like this!!!!

  • MR . MACPHISTO ftw

  • i feel sick

  • I like U2 but I hate this slaughtered version. The chorus sounds like a 50's American high pitched Doo Wap tune! They shouls get life for murdering this lovely song !

  • Great pictures!

  • This is pretty good. U2 really made it their own in a way. Lou Reed still does it the best though.

  • Mehh I like Lou Reeds version a lot more.

  • lou reed >>>>>

  • B-side,please don't die

  • a great version, but i think the version of lou reed is better ;)

  • omg. i love. LOVE the pictures.

    where did u find them???

    great.great.great.

  • I think this is good, but I wish he stayed away from the Falsetto in the chorus, and simplified the lyrics. This song isn't about frills.

  • Anything that is done with the heart deserves respect, love is the best as so is good music! Thanks

  • I think they do this song much better live for two reasons, it's slower, and Lou Reed sings it with Bono. Don't get me wrong though, I'm a huge U2 fan.

  • U2 definitely does this justice. Glad to hear it.

  • i agree, no comparison

  • Exactly.

  • thank you kittichan...for a work the very bleary morning, another of what seems to be a endless series of rainy days in

F L A. "Transformer" made my junior high school days magical and realy introduced me to Rock and Roll. And U2

crafted a beautiful version. An example of genius found on flip sides. The choice of photographs shows great care as well. The "rights" may not belong to you, but this is kittichans work of art.

    peace. ODAT

  • Typical pseud comments, making yourselves feel better by criticizing anything that's popular. U2's version stands up on its own. I happen to prefer Lou Reed's version as well, I usually prefer the original, but this is a sweet version.

  • buena hereeee =D

  • Urk!!!

Lou Reed's version is 50 times better

  • shit.

  • LOU REED, not Velvet...

  • Spettacolo...

  • simply brilliant

  • I must agree.

  • bastardize could even be an understatement...skullfuck, perhaps?

  • I think Edge is missing a minor chord somwhere.

  • Cool cover! I love U2 and Lou Reed

  • Just magnificent ;)

  • Beautiful version

  • NO words .... wow....

  • this soo is so peaceful

  • hermosa.... bono es el mejor que lastima que hoy dia sea una basura su musica

  • i dunno. that falsetto in the chorus is a little rough. yuck

  • ron and fez noon ta three wee heee

  • Ron and Fez Noon to Three

  • ron and fez-noon ta three

  • Yeah budday!

  • i like --everything here: fotos, song, bono, U2, sound, ect.. thanks for this video.

  • Bowie is better than bono but this is good
