You don't see too much of this in the US; we build most of our houses out of vinyl sided particle board crap. I wonder what kind of mud he's using; it must at least be the setting kind. Or do they sell a mix specifically for cementing drywall to masonry.
they do indeed sell a mix for board to masonry, it's the setting kind. it's just called, as you might guess, drywall adhesive, here. the UK also has about the worst standard for insulation in the developed world, whereas I'm sure they're loads better in the US, with your heavy use of stud walls and fillable cavities in every wall. I'd also like it if more places here had aircon. you win some you loose some eh?
