  • спасибо от души из России

  • what if the parent thing is not there?

  • Excellent tutorial, thank you so much!

  • I just signed in to like it. many thanks!!

  • thanks time a billion for this

  • If I had a dollar for every pixel this video had, I'd have one dollar.

  • @RayThreeFifty Actually yu would have 240 dollars xD

  • @RayThreeFifty I posted it THREE years ago! Every three year old video on YT is lame.

  • @RayThreeFifty you would have exactly 240 dollars...

  • @RayThreeFifty No you'd have more than 240 dollars. You'd have $1,354,752,000. (240 x 480 x 11760 frames)

  • is it when you export it or something the null red thing goes away or does it stay

if so how can you et rid of and have my object still tracked

  • @TheMosquito101 Yes, all those lines are just for reference and won't be rendered. If they are distracting while you work, you can toggle them off and on using Ctrl+Shift+H

  • hello, can more than one motion tracking be add on the video clip

  • @petenicezz Yes

  • 240p We meet again..

  • oh gosh! thanks youuu!!!

  • @BikerFail16 No.

  • great tutorial ! Thanks!

  • Thanks for the tutorial, that helped a lot.

  • boner 5:04

  • Simple tutorial!

Thanks a lot! Finally learning something with it.

  • hmmm, any clue as to why my null wont contain the motion track data even when I selected it as the motion target?

  • We'll meet 240p again:s

  • Proxima estacion werevertumorro hahahaha

  • simon BONER

  • @omar159king hahaha yeah thats what i thought

  • Great tutorial. Thanks alot!!! =)

  • What should i convert my video files to for use in After Effects CS4? Thanks.

  • Co za asy...

  • This might be a weird question, but what camera are you using??? Does it record in avi or did you convert it? Thanks

  • @Balgangsak Well, this was a long time ago, and I shot it on a Sony Handycam. The footage was originally mpeg, but that's too compressed to allow fast playback in AE, so I converted it.

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • it looks like a backwards video of a train going the other way

  • Thank you so much!!

  • Great tut, thanks!

  • fab vid. really helped me out. thanks.

a question: i have some 3d text (it'll look like a sign on the fence in your vid) but when i do the tracking, my text swivels incorrectly. Could you point me in the right direction so so speak... Thanks.

  • @2morowMan I guess the first thing to do is work out if the track is bad, or if there's some other issue you'd not consisdered. So go through the track frame by frame (use the page down key to make this easier) and see if the track points are where you want them to be. If they're off, nudge them manually. If they're off by a lot on most frames, you may need to pick better points or start from scratch. A small, high contrast point that doesn't get blurred out by motion is the best.

  • Nice tutorial brother! Thank you-much appreciated!

  • How to do that with an effect? I don't know why the effect in adjustment layer doesn't follow the motion data.

  • Thanks mate! I've been longing to learn this method and this really helped, I'll show you a sample of what I've made using this. Although it barely consists of motion tracking rather then the first 7 seconds or so haha, but thanks again mate :D

  • Hey Daniel, great tutorial.

I have a different problem. We study the division of cells in the laboratory using time lapse imaging. I am interesting to track the cells as they are dividing. Ex: 1 Cell diving into two, those two cells dividing into 4, and four into 8, and 8 into 16 etc. I want to track them using arrows like 1 arrow becoming two, two to 4, 4 arrows to 8 and 8 to 16 etc. Is that a possibility with the motion tracking feature?

    Thanks again for your help.

  • How do i motion track a wireframe??? im using psunami plug in and i wanna track the water for realistic camera.

  • this was awesome man. thanks from australia.

  • Really great tutorial. You should make more of these!

  • Super useful post. You just made me look like a GOD at work.

  • I've made a mock trailer on my channel and used after effects tracking system, but the tracking was a bit rubbish and i think it ruined bits of the video. Does anyone have any tips on improving tracker whilst your making videos, or is there any other trackers that work better, i see in the comments above about "mocha" ? is that a better tracking system ?

  • Does anyoe know how to do this in sony vegas? I'm searching my ass off :(

  • Thanks!!! Easy tutorial :-)

  • great video thankyou, i think it would look better if the text casted a shadow on the moving train, maybe with a bit of motion blur

  • can i use a changing shape mask and a motin track? i mean can i have my mask's shape changing while the video moves forward? (withiut me changing the shape frame by frame) ??? plz help me PLZ!!

  • I adore your accent... Awesome vid! :D

  • Thanks a lot for this great tutorial! You'll Never Walk Alone!

  • somebody help me i accidentally pressed down the motion tracking and now when i press the motion tracking controlls nothing comes up please help!

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this, I have been trying to undestand this all day. You are the first tutorial who explained it cleanly and logicaly.

  • Please help me, when i want a picture to stay in my vid what do i need to do then? When i import the picture i cant see it?

  • is this possible in vegas?

  • Thank You man!!! This help my project alot!

  • does ANYONE know how I can get an after effects serial number?

  • @monty583 Buy it..?

  • @monty583 Buy it faggot.

  • haha... his names bonner.

  • dude slow down whit talking

  • when i track it my tracking box goes wild and starts movieng aroudn randomly

  • @Sunny1816 I have that problem aswell, my text is moving in circles, but sticks to a point.

  • @Sunny1816 I have that problem aswell, my text is moving in circles, but sticks to a point. please reply if you got a solution.

  • Oh man nice vedio ...great, keep it up, Subscribed.

  • nice one

  • ofcourse you will not use the tripod. thats what this video is all about right? a shaky footage is a must

  • You saved my day! thank u

  • how do u track motion for a... let's say a camera wich rotates to 360 degrees. how do you keep those tracking points, when they desapear from the image? thank you for your tutorials.

  • i want to know, i have a video that is 3 minutes long long i only want to track only a minute of it so after i track that minute how do i get back the play the full 3 minute video with the track i created.

    thanks.

  • your voice sounds a little like the voice of "brick top" character from snatch. i like it

  • seriously, mocha is way better. ogirinal AE tracker blows.......dont put it in a room full of orphans with a machine gun

  • @kudjo24 It depends on the application. Mocha takes time, and if you have a quick bit of tracking to do then the inbuilt system is fine.

  • @kudjo24 also, the AE tracker can be quite powerful when combined with trackerviz..

  • Can I make a loop of the motion tracking, so that it repeats itself when the video goes on?

  • my text still moves around a bit is it because my clip is moving alot???? please help

  • @serbu21 If the tracking is bad, the parented object will move. 2D tracking in AE isn't magic, and you need to supervise it. Take a look at the track as it happens and gauge if the keyframes look off. You will often have to move them manually to achieve a good track. Also, when filming, plan ahead and try to get a couple of good track points in frame.

  • can i do it with text i made in photoshop?

  • @happygamestvfun1 ofcourse just save it as an .png or .psd and drag and drop it into AE you can motion track every footage :P

  • @happygamestvfun1 You can do it with any layer - doesn't even have to be text. Could be video, image, shape layer, solid, anything you want.

  • @simonsaysfx fucken heaps good then!

  • thanks dude, you just saved me about 2 hours! :D

  • I have a question when I click analyze forward nothing happens ? why?

  • @TheLonghairraven You may have to ensure you have the right layer selected, and the Current Time Indicator on the correct frame. There are probably lots of things that could stop this, so you might want to go through the steps from scratch, possibly referencing the AE help files on this topic.

  • can you tell me the style of the text thats used in this ? thanks.

  • why not link to the next video to make it easier for us? its not showing up on the side panel.

  • HEY MAN I DID WHAT YOU DID AND I RENDERED IT BUT MY TEXT WASNT IN THE VIDEO CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO RENDER IT!?

  • thank you for the effort of putting this up!

  • thnx this is what i looking for tnx

  • Peace Israel

  • If turn on youtubes CC thing, at 4:04 to 4:05 It says 'peace Israel' Lol

  • @BooYaHoCx Lol...

  • THANK YOU! HELPED MAKE MY NEWEST VIDEO!

just-uploaded-a--new-INTERNATIONAL--BACCALAUREATE--RAP--VIDEO!!! ... for CAS hours.. check it out!! It's awesome. used after effects!

  • Great tutorial! Very easy to follow, helped me lots!

On a side note, may I ask which part of England your accent is from? Just curious, I love it!

  • @TheAnnaBelmonte Merseyside (near Liverpool)

  • @simonsaysfx MERSEYRAIL FTW!!!!!! lol

    great video man, nice one

  • thanks for this video, i used the tracking to add a UFO to a sky shot, then also created a light point, connected that to the same tracker then created an optical flare which was connected to that light and created something really nifty, gonna be uploading to my channel within the next half hour

  • Watch this tutorial with YouTube's "CC" on :D "so just quickly drunk review all with what we call Thursday...". Anyway, great tutorial :D

  • This looks kind of dodgy because you can't see the text through the windows on the train as it passes so it just looks like it disappears. It'd look really nice with a more solid object though. :)

  • This tutorial and the one following it is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you so much man.

  • Will this be the same in After Effects CS5?

  • @roborovskihamsters Yes, it will. CS5 has Mocha tracking too, which is better than this.

  • ive got a problem, when i do track motion workspace the tracker controls doesn't show up, but i had it before...

  • @112kicker nevermind i got it :P

  • thank you!!! you helped me a LOT! all best, mate! :)

  • I don't swear a lot but this is just Fuckin' fantastic!

  • Very helpfull thanks!

  • Thanks man! I saw this one ages ago and I've been waiting ever since for a suitible project to use it in! I'm now using your technique in an extreme sports film I'm doing for an important school project! It looks AWSOME! :)

  • grt work bro ...thxs

  • hey with what program you record the screen

    Camtasia or which

  • @VideoEditingGuru12 I wish. I used frontcam for this. I just tried using camstudio for my new video (drop shadows). They're both pretty crappy.

  • @simonsaysfx im a scouser to!

  • Awesome Tutorial! Interesting subject and it was made simple!

  • a++++++++++++++

  • thank you for this video...i didn't know it had this until i saw this video. I used to do this manually LOL

  • @dormantreign Ouch!

  • @dormantreign Brutal! With keyframes? I only recently started getting into motion tracking, and keyframes are, precise, yes, but incredibly tedious.

  • @dormantreign yeah me too .... :P

  • Haha! Simon Bonner!

  • thats what i thought too!

  • could i use this for Set extension?

  • Simon "Bonner"?

  • thanks helped a lot, check out the video on my channel see what u think

  • Please help me, I want to have my titles stick to an object while the camera moves away. The problem is, motion tracking never seems to leave the footage and the null object just moves up and down once the tracked object leaves the frame. How do I do this?

  • @google1212121212 I'd put a keypoint just before where your moving away to making the object/title or whatever go away, basically just make the opacity of it like 0%, then it won't be there.

  • Thank you soooo much. This tutorial was very helpful =)

  • Please help!!!! what is wrong with my motion tracking???? It takes forever, for every frame it take 5-8 seconds to track!!!! Its so damn slow, and i have a pretty good pc.... Phenom quad core 2,4 GHZ, geforce 9600gt, 2 gb ram!!!!!! And yes, even if i minimize the track area!!!!? i have the latest drivers for everything and im using windows xp!!!! any suggestion!

  • are you motion tracking with HD footage? If so, that might be the problem. It also might be because you have your preview set to full quallity. Try setting it to "half" it should track faster

  • @ClaycoreProductions yes im motion tracking hd footage, but the preview quality is set to the lowest (quarter).....but still tracks slow... :(

  • are you using cs3 or cs4?

  • Wow, I was watching your videos and you have a really nice camera. If you film in 1080p like your other videos that might be why. I have a 1 year old computer and it cant even handle editing 1080p vidoes. I can upload them to youtube, but I cant edit them. Thats why I stick with 720p. Assuming you have Adobe premiere, you could put all your unedited footage in there, then export it as an mpeg2 file. After effects might be able to handle that file easer instead of the cameras AVCHD format.

  • @ClaycoreProductions thanks, anyway i tried to export/convert the hd files, but the quality doesn't remain the same.....

  • Thanks a lot

  • please help i play cod and im and editor, i want the 3d to stick to a wall so when the camera passes the text the text stays put in a certain postion on the wall if you know what i mean, could you help?

  • @SuPeRPiiG I'm looking for this to, help?

  • Thanks it was awesome

  • Can you track a point that goes out of frame periodically and then comes back in? I have this problem where the my track point goes in and out of frame and the key framing gets messed up. Any one know how to fixthis?

  • If your point goes out of frame, there are a couple of options.

One is to use Mocha for AE CS4, which is a better tracker than the built in one in AE.

Or you can track multiple points and link them together. So, when your first point is about to go off the screen, stop the track, apply the keyframes to a null, then start tracking a new point, etc. Then join your nulls. For more info, Google "set extensions videocopilot" and watch the video tutorial.

  • Thanks!. I will look into that. Your vid is very well done.

Hope to see more tuts like this.

  • ya that was a nice one

    thanks for posting it

  • does anyone know how 2 make 3D text...im new at AE

  • you have to use another program to make the yext properly 3d

  • Yes, you either need another programme, or you could buy the Zaxwerks 3D invigorator .

  • There is a small problem with this tutorial. Because of motion parallax, when your camera moves or shakes the objects that are closer to you move faster than objects that are further away from you. So when you set your tracking point, you want to set it on something that is at the distance you want the object to appear to move with. In this video, you are trying to make the text appear behind the train, yet tracking something that is in front. This makes the text move like it is closer.

  • Just to clarify, I do realize the problem with tracking something that is further than the train, because the train passes. However, I believe there is a technique to temporarly track the distance until the train passes, then track something closer, then track the distance agian when the train passes. Distance is key. The fence moves faster than the horizon. If you want something to look like it is on the horizon you have to track the horizon. Tracking the fence will make it seem closer.

  • Yes, you are totally right. I would probably stress that point in a more advanced tutorial, but I just wanted to make it simple for total newbs.

  • thers another problem his last name is boner

  • Great helpful tut!

  • I have Adobe After effects and I cannot find motion tracking under windows. Help please

  • windows>workspace>motion tracking

  • You might not have the full professional version.

  • Very clear and easy to follow. Thanks

  • wow pause it when the train comes in... ant much of a train lol :D

  • Do everything exactly as you say. But cant select the null target...

Also if you have ever seen the Heroes intro were a text sticks to a surface and the camera kinda pans away from it.

    Been trying to do that.

SO lets for example say you are going past a wall and you film the wall and you want a text to stick to that wall. By doing the stuff you just did that dosent work.

Looks pretty shitty.. And now i cant even stick that to the null object anymore. I really love after effects! -_-

  • Thank you so much, sir! I've been online for hours looking at tutorials and none of them made sense to me. ^^;; I found this and it's exactly what I need! Very clear and easy to follow...thanks again!

  • Thanks!

  • many thanx simonsaysfx,

that is exactly what I'm looking for.

    GimmeaPTW :

I think this could be done by duplicating the train.avi layer and animating several masks around train's windows. While the text layer comes between the two trains.avi layers. I'm jsut saying.

  • Nice, but duncha' think u should make it so that the "taxt"(text) is visble through the windows of the train?

  • If this was for realsies, yes!

  • @simonsaysfx yas!

    xD

  • Lets make some "taxt" lol. Awesome accent bro

  • Thanks! I did just watch the begining =)

but tha really helped me out.

this words was the key to all my problems "If you got a shaky fotage, you may make the squers biger." Thanks for tose words xD 5/5 for helping me!

  • YEs! :D i have been looking forthis kinda stuff forever

  • i cant find the tracker controls help!!

  • I LOVE your accent

  • Great teaching, straight to the meat of the matter and very detailed!
